The commentary is great on this one. Hearing these detailed explanations makes it way more accessible to new viewers or people just getting into speedrunning (which I hope will grow your audience), but it's still fun to watch for those of us who already know about the more technical/strategical side of the run because we love to see your continuous effort and persistence pay off. It's just crazy to think about this. This run beat the past record by 14 secs. If Gunner had gotten the other squirtle, which was 12 secs slower, maybe this WR run wouldn't have existed.
if he had a single extra pokemon break out of a ball the record may also have been lost. Crazy how tight this is with all of the RNG and needing to catch so many pokes
Yes pretty crazy. It was really cutting it close after Rocket Warehouse. But then when we didn't get any encounters in Mewtwo cave, it was definitely looking possible again. You hear me saying in the video '"our chances just went way up!!" which was definitely true.
@@ProWrestlingPsychology101 Repel is working only on less level pokemon. In Cerulean Cave, there are pokemon that overlevel Blastoise, resulting in potential encounters. One of them is even Wobbuffet that has Shadow Tag so you are trapped in a battle. The WR had an encounter in the cave, so it lost time there, which Gunner covered by having no encounter

Because this is Elite Four Round 2 speedrun. You need national pokedex to reach the elite four second round and for national pokedex you need 60 unique pokemon registered in your regional pokedex.

I remember months ago there was that huge scandal with the dude cheating for money with Pokémon world records. Watching commentary like this proves why it’d be seemingly impossible to record so quickly… this shit’s HARD. It’s crazy how much you have to think about and remember. Thanks for the commentary, and congrats on the well-earned WR.
The music is added in after, it’s not the actual audio from the run. The time it takes to essentially put every music change in would take forever, it’s good enough, you should be focused on the commentary, or go watch the actual wr video
If you mean that not all the music is correct, then yes you're right. That's because the music was added manually while editing the video. Making sure all the music is true to the scene is not really worth it imo. But if you mean that certain music transitions aren't accurate, something went wrong near the end of the editing. The test render I did was a lot worse, a lot of the music al like half a second off and I couldn't really explain it. So I went through the entire project and manually rearranged almost all the music, but I obviously could have missed stuff.
There's definitely a real amount of timesave in this run, but considering the length of the run and the nature of RNG, this is already a really really good run. Improving it would require even better RNG which is possible of course, but it would take a lot.
