Would love to find one (IMO the holy grail of 80 series land cruisers): jdm spec VX limited turbodiesel, 5 speed manual, triple-locking diffs, rear limited slip diff preferably in blue slate metallic, maybe even one with the Active Vacation Package
Amazing video, thank you for all the details on this land cruiser. For sure helps out to know what to look for. Had a question on that white Supra in the back, is it for sale?
@PacificCoastAuto Love these. started really getting into the 80 series land cruisers lately, although these were always one of my favorite gen land cruisers since I first saw them in the 90s. I really would love to find the holy grail (IMO) of the 80 series, which is a VX limited turbodiesel, 5 speed manual, triple-locking diffs, limited slip rear diff, in blue slate metallic
No it should not be. It can be that the temperature and oil pressure sensors are faulty/damaged. On the 70 series Land Cruiser as soon as you start the car the oil pressure gauge moves. The engine temp gauge takes a while to warmup if you only idle because it's a very large cast iron block. (Unless you live in America where they have a lot of big engines. Then this would probably be considered small.) But he did say the car had been running for a while so that needle should have moved by then.
@@Simple_Classic_Cars I'm trying to see what the price difference would be to go through an export/import service like this or buy from a stateside dealership. I've seen them stateside, anywhere from 18k - 30k depending on mileage and trim.
@@franciscomelendez4048 Getting a HDJ81 out of Japan in my experience is about $12K+. A year it would be about $8-10K, now the market has gone nuts. I see some sell for nearly $20K in Japan. I suggest finding good diesel here at the rate that you can afford and you won't lose money.
Usually, diesels need two batteries because of the manufacture building a vehicle that can withstand any climate as diesels are harder to start in the cold than a gas motor. You can start it with one but it’s not good for the battery.
90s Japanese 4x4s are so cool. Once I move to an RHD-friendly province, I'm getting myself an LC81 or a Y60 Safari.
Bought one 3 years ago. The difference is mine is a 5 speed. Love it.

my dream SUV. Not better than my Excursion though.
Why are some of the videos in your JDM playlist private and also there’s some off-topic videos in there that have nothing to do with JDM or cars?

I actually have 10 videos that were shot but have been too busy with work to upload them until last night.
Nice video. At 1:35 is the oil pressure supposed to be this low?

This thing went for crazy money for the mileage, Japanese market is completely screwed up by American buyers.
What did it go for?
@@franciscomelendez4048 Did you buy it in the US?

@@Simple_Classic_Cars So are you saying to buy one in the United States from an import dealership or try to have one imported from Japan?

This is false. ;)
See the TH-cam channel by one Maxx Powell, some idea who now has this.
