This is just sad. So the Yoruba majority, in Ilorin, naively created the Islamic brotherhood, while the Fula, a tiny minority group, cleverly created the exclusivist ruling policy which gave them the sole right to Ilorin’s Emirate. Basically, the Yoruba were more interested in religion than power, but the Fula seemed to be only interested in power. Smh! If the Islamic brotherhood in Ilorin indeed transcends ethnicity, why is it then that only the line of Alimi, a Fula Muhammedan, can rule as an Emir and not the line of Afonja (a Yoruba), or the line of other ethnic groups? Any religion, belief system or even philosophy that’ll strip me of my crown and kingdom, I don’t want it. No going back on Oodua nation. O to geee!
