I highly respect your opinion but I personally loved the gameplay, I imagine many may disagree since this was your main complaint however the sound of joels fist slamming against someone's face, the encouragement to experiment this simple yet effective stealth system and the tension I had while playing in the hardest difficulty alongside the beautiful story makes it a 10 out of 10 for me! I'm excited to see what you have to say about the sequel!!!
It's interesting when someone has a different opinion about some things and I respect it completely, but I still love this game to its core, every aspect of this game. All in all a good review, despite the disagreement. For me TLOU is 10/10.
I always thought the story should complement the gameplay, rather than be all it offers. Know why? If you don't care for the story the game is automatically boring. I think that this game deserves more criticism. Excellent video.
That's why I found Uncharted 4 so much better, even though there is still some slow boring stuff, it can cut into an intense and memorable moment instantly that compliments the story and continues to tell it through good gameplay. Naughty Dog know how to do it, I just hope they learned from this and Uncharted 4 so that TLoU 2 will have better gameplay overall.
jak i cant believe you found this repetitive but you totally praise horizon... horizon has only ONE FUCKING melee weapon.. the other weapons aside from the bow arent all that speciall and ALL YOU FUCKING DO IS SHOOT ARROWS AT THE WEAK PARTS OF THE ZOIDS OVER AND OVER FUCKING OVER AGAIN WTF! now the story on horizon was good... at least the last of us had way more combat possibilities than horizon.. combat wise for an open world game its really lacking a lot
Square Eyed Jak I never really thought that their Uncharted games have ever had the best writing out there, in fact I'd argue that even their previous Jak & Daxter games had better writing but I see your point.
This game is pretty much why I prefer insomniac rather than naughty dog, I feel that they put in effort to mix both story and gameplay so not one feels better than the other( most of the time anyway).
I think you’d like the 2nd game alot more, the gameplay was heavily improved and there’s so much more you can do. I love the 2nd game much more personally because it just feels more like a game than a movie
It's funny Jak, I just finished my first ever playthrough of this game, and felt nothing. Started up a second playthrough on "Grounded" difficulty and found myself enjoying the gameplay a bit more from each encounter to the next. I shouldn't have to bump up the difficulty to max to "get" a game, but I'm glad I don't feel like I wasted my time overall. Great review my dude!
Actually, playing 3rd person shooters on the lowest difficulty can be more enjoyable because you don't have to hide in cover, you can run and gun more which is much more exciting than waiting behind cover for 5 minutes.
Square Eyed Jak This is one game where you are punished for that. I played on Easy, ran through, and still got rocked by the Clickers. Can't tell if that's good design or just frustration, but I'm leaning more towards frustration. Haha
I hope this Channel really kicks off next year it’s entertainment in its purest form and needs to be experienced by everyone keep up the good work Jack!
Hi jak! Sorry if you have already answered this question before but I was wondering what was the reason behind your tattoo on your arm. Nice vid BTW :)
Jak, my favorite thing about your reviews is how you do not hold back, you have ripped a part a few of my favorite games and i loved it! here, i agree with you 100%!
Wow, that went better than I thought, glad you’re willing to give the sequel a shot. Also, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the music at all, which was brilliant imo
Amazing job Jak. I love how unbiased you are towards your reviews, giving your honest opinion whether or not a game is bad. I love will love The Last of Us to death, and when you dissected the gameplay aspect of it, it made me realize yeah, the gameplay is very shallow and bare bones, but to me, it was a good ride. Always looking forward to your next review. Happy Holidays mate!
All what Naughty Dog does now is just an uninspired action blockbuster yawnfests, which is why I find them to be garbage today and easily the most overrated "gaming" developers. The sellout gaming media wouldn't be blindly worshipping them if they weren't Sony's first party. "Game of the Year" lol
Bitterly cry more about how you’re in the minority. To call TLOU “uninspired” is simply wrong as is calling it an action blockbuster since the gameplay itself is a complete subversion of the usual action game tropes and conventions. Did you even play the game or are you unable to look past your own personal bias to even accurately criticize it?
I mean he's not wrong for saying it is unispired, there is no mechanic in this game that hasn't been used long before. Naughty dogs biggest strengths usually lie in their set pieces and art design. The story almost feels like it's taken inspiration from the walking dead and just replaced zombies with infected. If you think about it, if the set pieces weren't as grande or the story had less focus, the fairly average gameplay would not be able to even engage interest in the fans that love it so much. I personally just think the game is decent, a 7/10 but it is far from anything masterful, there's a very large list of games that it doesn't even compare to.
"Joel even lies to Ellie about what actually happened at the Firefly Hospital, which I can't wait for that to come out in the sequel." If only you knew just how bad things would get.
I only decided to watch this for the heck of it. I don't really hate The Last of Us, but I do think that the game is a bit too overhyped and because of this game, MANY games in this generation try to replecate the same formula and that isn't a good thing. -_-
The next God of War is my biggest target for copying this format, I heard someone say at PSX the game was looking to be 30+ hours long... I wonder how much of that is searching for fucking pallets!
I have to say playing this game on the harder difficulties makes the gameplay so much more gripping. I’m a firm believer that higher difficulties are how games should be played though.
I remember an analogy that this game is like mixing oil and water, the oil being the story and the water being the game play. They don't mix well together but the story is good on its own.
I'm not gonna lie, when I first played this game I had a pretty similar opinion and dropped it after like 3 hours. But I came back almost a year later, upped the difficulty and I actually enjoyed a lot more. I thought the survivalist nature of it complimented the story really well in a way the lower difficulties didn't. Conserving ammo and frantic gunfights to make sure I didn't go down in 2 hits. It gave the gameplay a tense and anxious feeling I really enjoyed. But yea I absolutely agree with your points. Didn't agree with a lot of your points but I'm glad you're willing to express you're opinion and not ass kiss like a lot of critics these days and besides it's nice to hear something different you know? Anyway your vids are good shit and I'm looking forward to see what you've got planned next year. Have a good one dude.
That was exact opinion I had upon finishing this game a week or two after it's release. Story is great but the gameplay? It's not bad. It's just there's nothing special about it. Also, great job at noting a standardized procedures like raft and stair flinging throughout the game. These things make even the good game play feel like predictible shit. Though, I must admit, there are some interesting situations in the game gameplay-wise. Like, for example, breaking through the sniper fire in a suburban area and... uh, that's it. Anyway, keep up the good job because your videos sure make my day fucking great!
This is the first review that I ever felt matched the way I experienced this game. Everyone praises it, but I found it so mundane, padded, and forgettable.
Interesting review. I'm not gonna lie, I will most likely NEVER play games like Uncharted or The Last of Us because I'm just not into hyper realistic games, they don't immerse me at all so I mean, it's great for people who don't mind the more realistic art direction in games (from an art design perspective of course because zombies aren't really realistic lol) but they just aren't for me. But I will say that it's cool you gave this game a critical, fair review considering it got a huge amount of praise which sure it sorta deserved but even when I watched things about this, it felt like they may as well just made a CGI film instead. One thing I never liked about modern gaming that started in the 7th generation was how developers were trying to make games into movies what with way longer cutcenes and lots of slow parts where you're not doing much as the side character unloads exposition on you, it just isn't fun and I think that's what kinda take away from games like this. They're too busy showing off the story and graphics which don't get me wrong, they are important but if the game is boring to play, why bother playing when you can just watch the cutcenes on a site like TH-cam? I'm not going to say The Last of Us is bad since I never played nor watched all the cutscenes of the game but if even you picked up on this, hopefully Naughty Dog will keep critiques like this in mind and make sure the sequel is more gameplay oriented, trying to strike a comfortable balance between presentation and gameplay. They've done it before with the Jak series and they can definitely do it again. Great review and Happy holidays!
This is why TH-cam needs Jak. This right here. He doesn't tow the line and gush on a game with huge praise. He dissects it and shows how weak a game is because one amazing aspect. This is definitely a good way to end the year.
The gameplay is at best a 7 but the story and atmosphere got me so interested that i put up with the lack of gameplay and beat the whole game in only two sittings.
Haha been looking forward to this review Jak, honestly agree with everything you said here. I hate this game. I *hate* this game. I have never played anything that I felt was so overhyped in my entire life. I went into it expecting SO much, especially with all the praise it recieved but damn, I was just so disappointed with it. It felt so flat to me and I was bored out of my mind. I think 6/10 is a fair enough score, the game indeed does have a very good story and soundtrack but everything else just... ugh. I personally wouldn't have rated is as much as that but then it's not my job to be a game critic. Certainly a great review for Christmas though, well done! Also, that multiplayer part was hilarious 😂
Like I said, had I done a video on it right after I beat it, it would have been much more brutal. I think giving it some time and going back to certain things helped to appreciate the story and some other parts better but yeah... overhype = death! Cheers and have a great holiday! :D
Jak, let me ask you a question, and please be honest. Do you believe that this would have been better if it was a movie rather than a video games? Do you think that it would have been as successful as it is now or do you think it would've just fallen flat on it's face and would've just looked like another Zombie movie? I do believe that a game needs good gameplay for it to be a great game, but that doesn't mean that it can't have a story near in quality to a movie. That's why people love these games, because it's a movie that they can interact with. It feels like you are actually in that world with the characters, making all of these choices and interacting with the world around them. But you have you're opinion, and I respect that.
Like I said in the video, you don't see a character painstakingly search their surroundings for a perfectly placed ladder every 10-15 minutes. MAYBE ONCE... but that's it. The fact that the "storytelling gameplay" very rarely told any fucking story is the sole problem here. As a single movie, it would have been a lot more to the point and the characters would not have been nearly as good, this kinda thing needs to be a game. But that's the problem, they clearly don't want to make the "game" part of the experience.
Yeah, I can see your point. Even one of my favourite games of all time, Life Is Strange, can be a little lacking in the gameplay department sometimes. The reason I love it so much is because of the story. The developers crafted it so well that it started to make me feel emotions.
That's Red Dead Redemption for me, an actual video game and my prime example of a game not needing slow, plodding gameplay with pallets to have a gripping, engaging story.
Life Is Strange has this really cool mechanic, time rewinding powers. considering it's a choice game, you can go back and change your choices in the moment. It had a good story AND good game mechanics to keep you interested. not like this where your walking aimlessly for ages until you get to a battle or a "puzzle." It's just Uncharted, but instead of finding treasure, you find Zombies.
Watching this in 2020 with the last of us 2 these points really damaged the last of us 2 as well as the glitches and the story being so nonsensical this really made the first game just good and the second game kinda bad it really shows how these points are done really well
Finaly someone said that joel is the bad guy. I mean we all love joel but saving ellie was selfish and bad thing. I mean its the end we all wanted that ending and 2 of them continue their lifes together but deep in ourself wee all know that decision was wrong. Yes he loved her and he saw sarah in her because ellie was same age as sarah when she died and she was his daughter figure but in the end that was her choise and we who played the second one know how that thing end.
I thought the story was definitely good from observation, I haven't actually played this game so a can't really say anything about gameplay itself. Loved the video and happy fucking holidays mate! :D (just a quick note I noticed the video was out of sync near the end but I'm not sure if its just my device)
But... But what about your quote about how to make a brilliant fucking game 101? Do whatever the fucking fuck Naughty Dog does! No but seriously Jak I was really surprised that you reviewed this game quite honestly and you did an amazing job. This is personally my favourite game of all time but I can respect your opinion. Maybe a TLOU multiplayer stream down the line? ;)
Out of curiosity, what are you thoughts on Uncharted 4? It's so very similar to this and if TLoU is your favourite of all time, how do you feel on Uncharted?
Uncharted 4 was an incredible game also. Yes, while it does have its walking sections and so on, the gameplay can be described as simply "fun". The rope mechanics and faster gameplay is what made it just that. Although I loved TLOU more in terms of gameplay because of that survival element to the game. Having to scavenge for supplies and deciding what to craft with the few materials you had that was critical to your success is what separated it from being a "mediocre cover based shooter" imo. Honestly Uncharted is more closer to that than TLOU.
Yeah but... no way I would call this game a survival horror like so many others, the lack of an extensive crafting systems kinda makes it lose it's purpose even being there. YES, having to manually heal vs. waiting for the screen to change colour is better but I think given action games like Uncharted, it's totally fine. For me, Uncharted 4 absolutely shits all over this purely because of it's clear focus on keeping an even balance between gameplay and story, and does a much better job at telling the story through gameplay.
Yeah I wouldn't call it a survival horror either (even though Wikipedia says that it is). But I'd make the argument that TLOU ALSO has an even balance between story and gameplay. On a side note, I think you should have talked about how ND cleverly based the outbreak on a REAL LIFE fungus - Cordyceps, and that this made it different from basically every other zombie game with unique enemies to face.
I may love this game, but regardless you´ve made some pretty interesting points and i can see why you didn´t love it as much as other people. And of course it´s great that you´re not afraid of giving your honest opinion just because it´s different, i respect that. And of course great video! Keep up the good work
hi square eye jack i havnt watched the video yet but im stoked to you encouraged me to go get more games so thank you for that and have a great fuckin day!
Hey Jak, just wanted to let you know that this was a good video. Keep up the good work man! You have great editing and a great personality. I wish good luck to you in the future of your TH-cam career. Have a great fucking day! :)
7dogguy it has to do with the fact that the gameplay is sandbox focused. With different enemies and weapons to try out, it makes an unique experience that you don't see in the last of us.
Amazing review jak. Sometimes i also tired about playing a games that has too much cutscene even if they are memorable, it feels removing the fun and the gameplay will be more generic. However, can you give me your opinion about Metal Gear Solid games? Because these game is almost look like The Last Of Us IMO(sorry). Too much cutscenes and reading. However, The Gameplay is a bit unique yet repetitive IMO.
Someone please explain why at 9:52 the outside of her window has blocky 1990s game graphics, whereas his window at 9:54 has a solid, 3 dimensional, clear view of detailed terrain outside. Small observation but surly I’m not the only one who noticed this..
Exactly how I fell. I just felt the ending to predictable and it still didn't find it as great. I'd still give it a 6 myself, good review! Hope to see you cover metal gear series at some point lol
Just finished the game and yes I 100% agree, the story is great, but for me,the gameplay killed the story, I think I would've liked the story more if this was a movie, anyways the gameplay is so repetitive that after half of the game it got boring and also hard on hard difficulty I played on,I barely managed to finish the fucking thing
There's no denying that the gameplay is the weakest link of The Last of Us. There were plenty of areas for improvement, and I hope they do get improved in the sequel (Which if the changes Uncharted 4 had are any indication, then they'll probably have some improvements in TLOU: Part 2). That scenario you posed with the Infected in the water instead of the same kind of pallet 'puzzle' is the exact kind of thing this game needed. More Dynamic and realistic solutions to the tasks, as well as more dynamic encounters with enemies. Have Joel and Ellie fend of infected while riding on horseback. Have Infected and hunters in the same area and use bottles/bricks/gunfire to pit them against each other, and have multiple options/scenarios as the result of different approaches to gameplay. Matthewmatosis did a video pointing out some of the major issues with this games design that I think should be considered going forward. The game suffers from a serious lack of options and creativity in the game design (Something that I hope TLOZ:BOTW will inspire more Devs to look at and implement), and I think it's become abundantly clear to anyone who isn't a fanboy that this game has some serious flaws. That being said, I adore this game, the characters, the writing, the structure, the visuals, the soundtrack, and the entirety of the Winter segment of the game (One of my favourite ''levels' in gaming) keep me invested and wanting to return to it.
One of the few reviews of yours I emphatically disagree with, although I respect your opinion. My only recommendation for you is to play through the game again on Survivor difficulty instead of Normal; it improves the gameplay massively as the removal of 'listen mode' and scarcity of ammo and resources make every encounter nail-bitingly tense. I enjoyed my first playthough of The Last of Us, but it wasn't until I played it on Survivor that I realised it was one of the greatest games I'd ever played.
Well, I like this game BECAUSE of the gameplay. I think most games have forgetable stories, and tlou is just a little better in this respect, in my opinion. But I enjoy the combat, the tension, the scarcity of resources. It doesnt feel like a generic 3rd person shooter for me. I've beaten this game 4 or 5 times and I never get bored. Games that dont have anything but story to offer usualy bore the fuck out of me in 30 minutes hehe. But I liked your video, it's certainly a valid and solid opinion.
An amazing review to finish of the year. Every single month, worth it. And now, I can't wait for 2018 to fuck shit up even more and probably end humanity. But your videos are great Jak! :D
I just finished Uncharted 4 yesterday finally, I can see the strong influence but at least Uncharted has a much better balance of action gameplay to story stuff, hell Uncharted is better at story telling WITH gameplay in my opinion.
Interesting review. I disagree entirely, and consider 'The Last Of Us' to be one of the single best games of the last decade, but I enjoyed the review all the same. The story as you said, is immersive and well told; but I found the gameplay to be an enjoyable mix of slow paced and deliberate stealth and action, that elevated and enhanced the story. As for the multiplayer, I generally hate multiplayer shooters, but I'm addicted to the multiplayer in TLOU because it has subtle tactical elements that I've not seen before, and there feels like there's a weight to it that other games don't have. The scoring system also rewards failure in an odd way, by making the item drops more valuable for the losing team, meaning that the game is constantly re-balancing itself, and stays challenging without being overwhelming. I love this game, but I don't disagree with your review. I just don't find the walking and slow pace of the game quite so off-putting as you do. The swimming and getting the wooden pallets was a bit forced admittedly, but that aside; I don't recall any parts that felt bad or immersion breaking. Perhaps you should stick to more frenetic games; platformers and action games are more your speed... I think this is more a case of the game not appealing to you, rather than it being a bad game.
This is my favourite game of all time. But, this review is terrific. Some aspects to gameplay were nice; combat felt brutal and great but could have had more variety and more mechanics, crafting was simple and good but not interesting enough. Naughty Dog should really listen to this review and work on some major improvements in gameplay.
And as a follow up, you should review uncharted 4 next, Jak. I think you gave this interactive movi.... I mean "Game" a very fair review. And would love to hear your thoughts on U4
I loved the story and characters but the gameplay was pretty easy, the combat I was fine with but I went into the game expecting a focus on survival since you manage a few resources and crafting tools, but I ended up almost always being full on resources and had to leave most stuff behind because I simply didn't need them.
Well I found the levels pretty rememberable too so after my first playthrough I remember things like where enemies are in each area, the paths they take, where most pick ups and weapons are, ect. So it'll be just as easy anyway. Also, in my second playthrough I went out of my way to use resources more so I'm not always full and it made the game even easier than before. I feel like this is one of those games that just aren't the same to play after the first time. If only I could erase my memory of the game so I can experience it all again..
As amazing as this game looks and the strength of the writing. Gameplay wise I only really enjoyed the stealth sections against Clickers. The Puzzles were very intrusive and at times uninspired and repetitive. Sure the game rewards patience and strategy, but it did cause the game to drag at times, especially against human enemies. I only ever played through the game once for both PS3 and later PS4 and I just cannot be asked to play through it again, because at the end of the day. Its just an interactive movie. The replay value from Crash and Jak did not translate onwards on the PS3/4. I can only hope TLOU PtII changes this as neither Uncharted/TLOU compare to Naughty Dogs earlier games. They might trump good writing/pushing the Playstation to its very limits but thats all Naughty Dog have accomplished with these 2 franchises.
I haven't played the last of us since my first playthrough in 2015. I really enjoyed it but its mainly because of the story. To be honest it feels like Naughty Dog just took Uncharted's gameplay and slapped a post apocalyptic setting and story onto it. Uncharted to me feels more entertaining, has more going on and shows better character and story progression in my opinion. I hope they can do more with part 2. Merry Christmas and keep on reviewin'!
I DON'T CARE IF ITS A COPY PASTE GAME. IF ITS LIKE UNCHARTED ELEMENTS. THIS REVIEW IS TRASH. GO FIND A DIFFERENT TH-camR. I'LL RECOMMEND ANGRY JOE OR ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD
"Oh, you mean a movie?" I died laughing, but you have a lot of really good points in this review. I couldn't even get through a Let's Play of this game because it was just all SO BORING! The game play was extremely dull and the story was uninteresting after the first ten minutes. I ended up looking the entire story on a wiki page and while reading it, I do wish the game was much more interesting because it's not like the story was terrible.
You know everyone says these games are praised for the story but i cant for the life of me remember any of the story of any naughty dog game. Maybe it was awhile ago but I remember movies I've watched from a longer time ago so idk.
Ok I've literally never played the last of us and won't any time soon but just looking at the "gameplay" it looks so much more like an Interactive movie kinda like those weird ass mini games you get on a DVD Fuck I'm only a teenager and I already feel old just mentioning "DVD"
You make some good points, but I think the gameplay was more of a shock and awe and a survival type gameplay. When you're walking around "doing mundane things", that's world building and showing you how fucked up the world has gotten. And as for the coverbased gameplay. It's a survival game. You could just go out an wrecked shit but more often than not, you're gonna have a bad time if you don't plan out your attack.
Gameplay alone can't count as 4 points towards the score, also the game has the cover system to punish bad players, i know because it heavily rewards you for not using it. I also hated the walking and "puzzle" segments but I honestly think you were too hard on the game because you were bad at the combat
The video is 20:17 long this video came out in 2017
I got a pin from the square eyed jak awsome
I'm scared
God dammit
I was about to comment that
Nathan Sheldrick parodox

What an interesting perspective. I like that you speak your mind despite your opinion being so controversial, good points brought up as well.
‘Jak II: Renegade’ is a playable movie in all the best possible ways.
‘The Last Of Us’ is a playable movie in all the worst possible ways.
Holy shit... Jak said Dead Rising is enjoyable...
My Christmas has come early!
Petronious He only said the Crafting system isn't as fun as dead rising which i agree
I still need to play that series lol
Feelathon. The Last of Us is a feel-a-thon, and you dissected the game very well, honestly gave me a new perspective! Awesome review, man.
It's interesting when someone has a different opinion about some things and I respect it completely, but I still love this game to its core, every aspect of this game. All in all a good review, despite the disagreement. For me TLOU is 10/10.
"Expect story spoilers from the start of this video"
Dammit Jack, why must you torture me with a new video that I can't watch for the sake of story
I always thought the story should complement the gameplay, rather than be all it offers. Know why? If you don't care for the story the game is automatically boring. I think that this game deserves more criticism. Excellent video.

Actually I did, I called it gorgeous.

I have to say playing this game on the harder difficulties makes the gameplay so much more gripping. I’m a firm believer that higher difficulties are how games should be played though.
I actually plan on playing this soon, are there any spoilers?
There are story spoilers, yes. Play the game and then come back later!
Going to the beach huh? That would be nice :/
This game and your Heavy Rain reviews were spot on mate. Good Story, no substance in gameplay. Please review Beyond Two Souls next.
Agreeable
Chance of TLOU2 review?
Yeah, can't wait for you to review Part 2. So much to talk about. LOL
Jak>>>>>>Caddy and I love both lol
As accurate as you can get. Great story, shit gameplay. Solid review mate, happy holidays. :]
Cheers mate, happy holidays!
This is why TH-cam needs Jak. This right here. He doesn't tow the line and gush on a game with huge praise. He dissects it and shows how weak a game is because one amazing aspect.
This is definitely a good way to end the year.
You're getting subscribers fast!
Thanks for another year of great content my friend! I look forward to seeing what you have in store for next year. Keep up the great work!
solid review , no pulled punches
The gameplay is at best a 7 but the story and atmosphere got me so interested that i put up with the lack of gameplay and beat the whole game in only two sittings.
The skit in the beginning 😭
Here’s a fact, without the cutscenes the game is only one and a half hours long
Anyone else’s audio out of sync?
Yeah man I mean maybe if I went back and played it again, I'd feel the same way but yeah... That's never going to happen 😂 Thanks, you too!
Have a great fucking day is probably my favourite TH-camr outro
Watching this in 2020 with the last of us 2 these points really damaged the last of us 2 as well as the glitches and the story being so nonsensical this really made the first game just good and the second game kinda bad it really shows how these points are done really well
Doesn’t even relies that the zombies are infected with a real live fungus
Finaly someone said that joel is the bad guy. I mean we all love joel but saving ellie was selfish and bad thing. I mean its the end we all wanted that ending and 2 of them continue their lifes together but deep in ourself wee all know that decision was wrong. Yes he loved her and he saw sarah in her because ellie was same age as sarah when she died and she was his daughter figure but in the end that was her choise and we who played the second one know how that thing end.
Ending left a little to be desired
I thought the story was definitely good from observation, I haven't actually played this game so a can't really say anything about gameplay itself. Loved the video and happy fucking holidays mate! :D (just a quick note I noticed the video was out of sync near the end but I'm not sure if its just my device)
Hey Jack, have you tried A Hat in Time? You seem like a platformer guy.
Great review, as always
I never played it, but I thought the last of us would make a good movie, but was a meh game.
On 16:23 the raving angry gamer is the best part in my opinion.
Keep up the good work
It's crazy how you can still find a online match
Welp here we go!
hi square eye jack i havnt watched the video yet but im stoked to you encouraged me to go get more games so thank you for that and have a great fuckin day!
Hey Jak, just wanted to let you know that this was a good video. Keep up the good work man! You have great editing and a great personality. I wish good luck to you in the future of your TH-cam career. Have a great fucking day! :)
Cheers mate, much appreciated! :)
Gears of war is really fun imo but also the only cover based shooter i like
7dogguy it has to do with the fact that the gameplay is sandbox focused. With different enemies and weapons to try out, it makes an unique experience that you don't see in the last of us.
Good Game.
11/10
As a TLOU fan, I respect your review and opinion, Square Eyed Jak ✌👍
Amazing review jak. Sometimes i also tired about playing a games that has too much cutscene even if they are memorable, it feels removing the fun and the gameplay will be more generic. However, can you give me your opinion about Metal Gear Solid games? Because these game is almost look like The Last Of Us IMO(sorry). Too much cutscenes and reading. However, The Gameplay is a bit unique yet repetitive IMO.
The Lastivus for the resitvus!
Have a great fucking Christmas, Square Eyed Jak! 🎄🎁😊
Oh man I can’t wait to see your review on the last of us part 2 lmao!
Just finished the game and yes I 100% agree, the story is great, but for me,the gameplay killed the story, I think I would've liked the story more if this was a movie, anyways the gameplay is so repetitive that after half of the game it got boring and also hard on hard difficulty I played on,I barely managed to finish the fucking thing
can you review conker next
Great review man can't wait for 2018
I know I should comment about my feelings about this game
But all I can think of is...
12:59 that was a sweet flip
God I laughed when that happened.
I like the game, but one thing I'll never forgive us how it affected Uncharted 4. Looking forward to watching this jack!
I think this is more a case of the game not appealing to you, rather than it being a bad game.
just saying I think a lot of people wanting a game like The Walking Dead sooo
This is my favourite game of all time. But, this review is terrific. Some aspects to gameplay were nice; combat felt brutal and great but could have had more variety and more mechanics, crafting was simple and good but not interesting enough. Naughty Dog should really listen to this review and work on some major improvements in gameplay.
And as a follow up, you should review uncharted 4 next, Jak. I think you gave this interactive movi.... I mean "Game" a very fair review. And would love to hear your thoughts on U4
I finally beat it last night, shits all over this. There you go.
6/10 WHO THE FUCK WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD REVIEW IT IN DIFFERENT POINT RANGE??
I loved the story and characters but the gameplay was pretty easy, the combat I was fine with but I went into the game expecting a focus on survival since you manage a few resources and crafting tools, but I ended up almost always being full on resources and had to leave most stuff behind because I simply didn't need them.
Duddridge1 you should have tried a different difficulty then
Well I found the levels pretty rememberable too so after my first playthrough I remember things like where enemies are in each area, the paths they take, where most pick ups and weapons are, ect.
"Oh, you mean a movie?"
I died laughing, but you have a lot of really good points in this review.
Maybe it was awhile ago but I remember movies I've watched from a longer time ago so idk.
fake door probably a card board but thanks for trying .... oh god
naughty dog needs to get their asses back on some jak and daxter
Ok I've literally never played the last of us and won't any time soon but just looking at the "gameplay" it looks so much more like an Interactive movie kinda like those weird ass mini games you get on a DVD Fuck I'm only a teenager and I already feel old just mentioning "DVD"
YES HE REVIEWED IT!!
Damn I was honestly hoping you'd break it in half but oh well it was a great review nonetheless.
This is my favorite game I can see where your opinions are but I disagree
You make some good points, but I think the gameplay was more of a shock and awe and a survival type gameplay. When you're walking around "doing mundane things", that's world building and showing you how fucked up the world has gotten. And as for the coverbased gameplay. It's a survival game. You could just go out an wrecked shit but more often than not, you're gonna have a bad time if you don't plan out your attack.
this critique is exactly right. gameplay, lol, more like lameplay.
Square eyed jak do a video on bonetown
So what's the point of playing this "game" than. Might as well watch the cutscenes on TH-cam.
Damn you deserve so much more viewers/subs you have excellent content. Keep it up you're gonna blow up..soon
Gameplay alone can't count as 4 points towards the score, also the game has the cover system to punish bad players, i know because it heavily rewards you for not using it. I also hated the walking and "puzzle" segments but I honestly think you were too hard on the game because you were bad at the combat
