I am playing Bottom in an upcoming performance, and I was having trouble memorizing this monologue, but after watching this over and over, not only do I have it memorized, but i can perform it very well! Thank you so much Mr. Henry!
I'm pretty sure this is a soliloquy because he is speaking his thoughts out aloud. Since he is not speaking this in a conversation this would be a soliloquy.
I’m playing as Bottom in a play soon and I’m trying to study Bottom as a character. I haven’t found my confidence just yet or my Bottom, and seeing this is helping me get to know the character’s personality well. Probably gonna watch this back a couple times now lolol
When my cue comes, call me, and I will answer. My next is “Most fair Pyramus.” Heigh-ho! Peter Quince? Flute the bellows-mender? Snout the tinker? Starveling? God’s my life, stol'n hence, and left me asleep? I have had a most rare vision. I have had a dream-past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass if he go about to expound this dream. Methought I was-there is no man can tell what. Methought I was, and methought I had-but man is but a patched fool if he will offer to say what methought I had. The eye of man hath not heard, the ear of man hath not seen, man’s hand is not able to taste, his tongue to conceive, nor his heart to report what my dream was. I will get Peter Quince to write a ballad of this dream. It shall be called “Bottom’s Dream” because it hath no bottom. And I will sing it in the latter end of a play before the duke. Peradventure, to make it the more gracious, I shall sing it at her death.
I don't think you would have anyway of knowing what "the bard" would have wanted seeing that my guy has been dead for hundreds of years. lol what an absolutely pretentious thing to say.
@@benjaminjenkins394 all one must do is listen to Hamlet's speech and the words of the master to know. Opinions make people sad don't they? But a valiant effort you demonstrated, as the knight in shining armor riding to the defense of the video.
@@Tamerlane666RLSV and like opinion, everybody has one…doesn’t mean we have to hear it or care. Also, my point still stands, you’re extremely pretentious. As a matter of fact, anyone who calls Shakespeare “the bard” unironically in 2022 is a rather bumptious jackass. 🤷🏾♂️💁🏾♂️

what's he pretending to hold at 3:03
Ya feel me?
Thank you! That’s what I figured but I wasn’t sure.
I'm not sure if the bard would approve of the unnecessary pauses AND added words.
Added words? Which are they?

RANDOM but good acting
For the biblical among you, compare the line beginning "The eye of man hath not heard" to 1 Corinthians 2:9 and Isaiah 64:4.
