Best video about this stuff that I have seen in over 5 years of working with wireless mics. As a total newbie just thrown into a job, I've been hobbling along all this time. Now, I get it. Thank you so much!!!🤩
Precise information! Q - When using a wireless microphone setup, what kind of configuration is needed to route it through a DAW on a computer? Great content!
Yeah. That's not surprising at all. In our rental department, these things took an absolute beating and they would have gone for another 10 years if it wasn't for the frequency spectrum being banned where I live.
Thanks for doing this presentation. I would like to connect a microphone to an existing LG 77C1 TV running WebOS. Any suggestions are most appreciated.
Hello Kettner, Thank you for the video. I have the exact Shure ULXP4 receiver. I would like to hook it up to the BMB DX333 G2 Karaoke Power Mixer. So far, I connected them together using the 1/4" both end straight from the Receiver to my Karokee Mixer. However, there is a "hissing" sound as soon as I turn on the Microphone. Today, I looked the back of the ULXP4, I noticed there are 2 ports: the 1/4" AUX/High Z output and the 3 pin XLR Balance Low Z Mic/Line output. I wonder if using the 3 pin XLR Balance Low Z Mic/Line output to connect to my BMB Mixer would help vs. the hissing sound? My BMB only have 1/4 MIC in. Could you please help to guide me beside the current way of connecting the 1/4" cable from the ULXP4 receiver to my 1/4 Mic in Mixer, can I use the 3 pin XLR Balance Low Z Mic/Line output instead? If I use this port, then, I will need the 3 pin XLR cable to 1/4in. But, there are 2 different kinds for this cable: balanced vs. unbalance. Which one should I use? Thank you so much for your guidance. Best Regards, Duc
What mixer would I need to get so I can film movies with multiple wireless lavaliere mic’s on each actor - filming on IiPhone 14 Max Pro? I have gemini ux1620 uhf system with both lav and handheld mics. I want to be able to utilize the latest iPad and iPhone with cinematic feature and be able to record with the transmitter on the phone and mic on the actor. 😊
Can you explain: after connecting the handheld Mic to the stationery transmitter, can we transmit the sound of that handheld Mic to another MG06X console and finally get a headset plug to transfer the sound from the handheld mic to the translator's headset? Can you please help explain or post a tutorial (especially for the Simultaneous Translation system)? It would be great though! I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Is it microphone good for singing and doing vocals your voice overs and enter viewing people? Please respond. Thanks a lot. I'm just getting started at 70 years old and working on my vocals and interviewing people. Thank you!
My wireless microphone receiver has gain knobs for each of the 4 microphones. I also use xlr cords to connect each mic into its own channel on my audio mixer. If I’m connecting Mic 1 to channel 1 on my mixer, where do I set volume of Mic 1 on the receiver and the gain & channel volume on channel 1 of mixer mixer?
I have question my microphone receiver has both a TS/TRS output and an XLR output is there a difference in sound production using either one. I usually use very short TS cable to connect it to my mixer. Should I switch to XLR
Kettner Creative sir,im thinking of DJing my home stereo system,i have late 90s carver amp with adcom preamp, the preamp is the top of the line model, multiple connections on the back, how do i hook up a MIC?
Am I able to use simultaneously 2 single channel wireless system to 1 mixer. Let’s say I am using a shure pgx with my beta58 mic and my friend will use her seinhessier evolution E835 mic. Are we able to perform with this set-up
Isn't placement of the receivers a very important part of the installation? Don't you want them as high as possible so that the signal being transmitted from the mics is a clear "shot" to the receiver(s) to avoid as much interference as possible? No metal, wood, etc in between the mic(s) and the receiver(s).
Is it possible to connect a wireless shure sm58 microphone to a 2021 macbook pro? and what would be needed? struggling to find info about this, all i’m getting is for the XLR version! thank you so much!
Great question. It's basically the same process. You can think of a wireless microphone kit in the same way that you think of a wired microphone. Your wireless receiver still has an XLR output, so you need to connect your XLR output to the computer. Wireless 58 > Radio > Wireless Receiver > XLR Cable > Audio Interface or Audio Mixer > USB Cable > Computer.
Thank you so much but I'm having issues with controlling the volume of 2 mics. I don't want them to share the same channel because i want to individually change their volumes. My shure receiver doesn't have a volume lever on it. When I connect via 1/4 one if the microphones will not play out the other speaker. Is this because I need to use XLR cables instead?
Here's what annoys me. I want to connect a mic similar to that one on his jacket. Every TH-camr is recording a video about recording a different microphone, not the one they are wearing. 😂Which is exactly the one I need.
@@kettnercreative Hey bud, can you confirm if there is a reciever that can connect 4 mics to it, and the receiver is connected to a speaker system, the mics won't work properly?
I literally know nothing about wireless microphones .. but we need some for a starting our shows. We are just singing no instruments involved and no recording . So Can you tell me why if its wireless why the long wire that u plugged into the radio receiver? You said its to 'plug into an audio mixer' i don't know what that is? Can you still use the reciever without it? Thanks
audio mixer is a device u use to connect the mic to speakers. its wireless in the sense that u can move around with the mic without a cable going into the audio mixer.
Sir can i apply the phantom power to cordless mic desk top receiver, what will happen if i apply the phantom power to cordless desktop mic receiver, can i phantom power apply or not . Sir iam waiting for your answer
Phantom power is used by microphones that need power to magnetize an element in the microphone to pick up sound. The microphones that are used as wireless microphones are dynamic microphones and they don't need the phantom power. So if your mixer or audio interface can provide phantom power you don't need it in this situation. AFAIK It won't hurt immediately if phantom power is left on by accident, but that is for somebody who knows this situation better to answer. I wouldn't be surprised if the quality of the microphone is involved somehow.
I have the same mic I have some frequency issues, when you move around the auditorium the frequency cut at certain points and comes back again pls what should I do to rectify this problem.
Hey good video man. Very useful info but I have a question. If you were trying to mic 6 to 10 people at once in an indoor open space setting what mics would you use and how would you go about that?
Depends on the speaker. If the speaker is self powered and has a line input - the receiver and speaker have to be set to line in. Alternatively, you can set the receiver and speaker to mic level input, if you have those options
Good question, there are a lot of variables. In general, digital wireless systems tend to have "better" audio as far as dynamic response and frequency response. However, just like everything else that's digital (HDMI, SDI, Etc.), it's either on or off. For low end wireless systems, this is extremely noticeable with big dropouts even when your transmitter and receiver are 15' apart. Medium to high end analog wireless systems have been designed in such a way that the audio section is actually quite good and comparable to high end digital systems(low latency, good dynamic response), especially if you're using it for speech which requires far less dynamic range and range of frequencies. Hope this helps,
Rookie question here. Can someone tell me if its possible to run two microphone systems from two different brands at the same event? Yes I need to upgrade but I haven't booked that many events yet as I'm a new DJ, but at the moment I have a Samson system (lav and handheld) and a Pheynx Pro system (lav and mic). Could I possibly use both at my event this Friday? Also with the new Digital systems coming out would the Shure SLX4 system which are heavily discounted be a good buy or just save for the upgrade? Thanks to anyone that can help!
@@kettnercreative Wow I didn't think I would get a reply before Friday! Definitely subscribing and joining! So On the Pheynx system I can see the frequency but not on the Samson system so I need to figure out which frequency the groups and channels are for that system which I hope is on their website, then I should be fine? this is awesome! This is my 1st large event (I did fully disclose that I did not have pro mic equipment) they are more concerned with music. After this Ill be able to buy a new system torn between Sennheiser EW-d or SLXD. or save money and buy 2 older SLX4 systems. Thanks again!
Many, but only one can operate at a time. If you have multiple mics on the same channel, the closest mic/strongest signal will lock all other mics out.
I have question my microphone receiver has both a TS/TRS output and an XLR output is there a difference in sound production using either one. I usually use very short TS cable to connect it to my mixer. Should I switch to XLR
You need an audio mixer. You connect the TV audio RCA out into the mixer And connect the microphone Into one of the mixers channel. A small Mixer with RCA input will work fine. If you are using it for karaoke a mixer with effects will work better.
