    If you're wondering why I spend so much time with my arm on my head when I'm in bed, it's because it opens up my torso and seems to give my kidneys a little more room to "breathe" if you know what I mean. haha

      Makes sense! I have reactive airways and asthma along with a very large chest and I sleep with my arms above my head all the time. Good thing I'm not super tall so there's still room for my feet when I scotch down the extra door for my arms 😂

      I have had two liver transplants and end stage your liver is larger than an NFL regulation size football. Very painful so I feel your pain. I frequently kept my right arm above my head when trying to find a comfortable position. I hope you can get transplanted soon. You will feel so much better and have a new lease on life. Within 24 hours of my most recent transplant I felt like a completely different person. Before that I literally slept 20 hours a day. Sloths were my spirit animal! Even after transplant my autoimmune disease has attacked my latest liver so I have progressively started feeling that fatigue creep in. We just have to use our good days to be productive and really be patient with our bodies on the bad days and really focus on self care. So hard to do as a mom and when you have the desire to do so much! Keep up the fighting spirit! Every heard of the spoon theory? Look it up. Beyoncé has like 50 spoons where as people with chronic disease have maybe 10 tops and we use them up just trying to get ready for the day!

    I have a few chronic illnesses / pain / mental illness and I live by the spoon theory. We might all have 12 spoons for the day, but what costs you 1 spoon, might cost me 4. So what I do in the day has to be carefully planned so I don't run out but alas, I usually run out by 2pm and the rest of the day is so so painful.

    I have been working from home since march, before COVID I had one day a week in my contract. We are still self isolating as I have Fibro & CRPS and I had cervical spine surgery in April as well so recovery has been tough without access to normal medical care.
    Thank you for sharing the truth about living with chronic illness and how hard it is to function normally. Healthy people find it hard to understand how debilitating it is to be fully exhausted and not just tired. I am finding since working from home full time I need to take a 3 hour break and sleep somewhere in my day, every day. I honestly don’t know how I will cope once we have to go back to the office full time. I’m dreading going back to normal life and having to travel & socialise now my body is used to this slower pace of life and napping when needed 😥

    • @dianeandbrad529
      @dianeandbrad529 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicole Fraser Nicole: I have CRPS too. It's in my left foot. I'm approaching my third year (the surgery that started it was 12/01/17). I'm always pleasantly surprised if I find someone with crps in the comments! how did yours start and where do you have it? how are you doing with it?

    • @nicolefraser2891
      @nicolefraser2891 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diane S SAME!!! Terrible club to be in but nice to find another member ☺️ I have it in my left hand following carpal tunnel release surgery 17/04/2015. Well the first 3 years were the worst getting to use to not being able to use my hand and trying various treatments. I was lucky I was diagnosed early (within 10 days of surgery) so had access to pain specialist, physio & pain psychologist from the start. What was life changing for me was the ketamine infusions. My 3rd one in September 2018 worked and i was 100% pain free. I got full use of my hand back within 6 months 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I was pain free until August this year when it came back ...its not too bad but after being pain free it’s annoying mostly and my strength is going as I am not using it as much. I am on the list for another Ketamine infusion so its a waiting game.
      Are you able to use your foot? what treatments have you had success with?

    • @dianeandbrad529
      @dianeandbrad529 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicole Fraser I had a consult for ketamine but I haven't been able to commit yet - the process seems a bit scary to me - maybe if I found a doctor I was more comfortable with? I was diagnosed early in the process also and got nerve injections and lumbar injections... not super super life changing but the slow and steady progress I've made in PT is encouraging. My initial symptoms were completely life stopping for the first couple months. Medication helped a lot. I still am very limited with what I can do in a day but I am so thankful to be in a better place than I was 2 years ago. I am just incredibly thankful it hasn't got worse or spread...
      I'm encouraged to hear you found success with ketamine. Was there anything in particular that made it flare back up do you think? What state are you located in?
      Are you in Cindy's FB group - I'll keep an eye out for you there as well 🌸

    • @nicolefraser2891

      @@dianeandbrad529 I am in Sydney Australia, got my date for my next infusion Monday 19th ...cannot wait. Today was very busy at work and i had to type a lot and my hand was up to a 5 i had forgotten was it was like to be in that much pain :-( I cant believe I suffered for 3.5 years with such intense pain its so crazy what we can endure when we have to.
      I am not sure if it was stress from work as we have been very busy or if it just wore off? When I got it done my pain specialist said 6 days, 6 months, 6 years everyone is different. Pray to all your gods for a miracle to go pain free as I have only seen a few in all my years. I was lucky i got 23 months :-)
      I prayed and got everyone I knew to pray and if they didn’t believe I asked them to keep me in their thoughts. I kept a very positive mindset and every day said “this is going to work i am going to hit pain free”. I also went to a shop that sells crystals and asked them for healing crystals for a medical procedure and held them as well during the infusion. Every little but helps.
      The infusion is not that bad its a small needle under the skin in the fat of your belly or legs. It’s only if they go too high too quickly you will get sick and have hallucinations - this happened the first time for me. Then they learnt how to increase it slowly over time with a max dose of 8mg (some people go to 16 or 32) I am very sensitive to all brain altering drugs, gabapentin, endone ...everything really.
      No i am not in her group ill pop over now. Hope this helps xx

    2020 has been one long, continuous flare for me too. It's also confusing because I would have the same symptoms and problems even without pandemic bullshit. But everything just feels so much worse because of the stress and chaos of everything else. Thank you for being vulnerable with us. It may not "fix" everything, but it's important for us (you too) to remember that we're not alone.

    • @CindyGuentertBaldo

      @kcnurse19 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cindy Guentert-Baldo On the other hand, if your function was about to tank anyway the slower pace of life right now is so beneficial! I have had chronic pain since I was hit by a car 37 years ago. Pain sucks, dealing with pain is a giant time suck but dealing with other people ( or my own head ) judging me for not being active enough etc is almost more draining. I have made a habit of looking for the positives anywhere I can find them and hanging on to those to savor when the negative Nancys (in my own head or coming at me from outside) start to chip away at my strength. I wish you peace and extra spoons when you most need them.

    I recently shared with you that 5 years ago I had my right kidney out due to cancer. About a month ago, I had my first ambulance ride (and hopefully my last) but we found out that my left kidney now has a 2cm cysts on it. I guess you know what and how I have been thinking (and feeling.) I am also diabetic, have a heart valve problem, high blood pressure and fibromyalgia. I am awaiting an appointment with my derm. because they think I may have the beginning of "lip cancer." I think we have to take a long look at our pets. When they need a nap,,,,they take a nap. They stretch, yawn, look for soft quiet places. They avoid conflict, loud noises and stress. Sure sounds good to me..........

    Writing postcards is so great! I never got hooked up with that campaign.
    Instead, I'm writing letters through Swing Left/Vote Forward to registered voters, Democratic-leaning or traditionally underrepresented but who the data determined are not already highly motivated to vote. We write letters about why we think it's so important to vote and give them info on how to navigate their systems.
    I've handwritten 160 letters so far for the Texas campaign. Apparently data has shown that handwritten communication is incredibly effective, matching the turnout-boosting effects of door-to-door canvassing! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

    I reframed that Beyonce meme during a bout of my own chronic illness flareups: yes, we have the same amount of time as Beyonce, but not the same amount of energy, resources, health, wealth, and assistance. The time part is all we have in common (well, and great hair), and it takes so much more than that to get shit done. That way, I still recognize the similarities between me and Bey, which is just fun, but still recognize reality.

    I wanna say "i am amazed at how much you get done in a day" but I also realize how easily one thing (kitty jumps) can change the course of the day for you....
    It's so hard going through my day knowing if I do one thing weong or even nothing at all and just pain flares up, my day takes a huge turn.
    Love the Jesse and Kitty footage - that made me smile - how adorable - (it's funny my boy cat and my husband have a different relationship than that cat has with me, it's funny - they just need some guy time, lol)

    I have like 13+ chronic illnesses including EDS (which causes frequent joint dislocations which causes nerve and muscle damage which causes a fuckton of chronic pain) along with its fun comorbidities like a paralyzed stomach (requiring a feeding tube) POTS (which causes frequent fainting and dreadful dehydration that causes a central line and daily IV fluids), TBM (which makes my lungs floppy and collapse in on themselves requiring oxygen 24/7) and more so I’m basically just a walking (sometimes) talking medical device and I was just telling my friend (who’s also chronically ill cause normies don’t want to be friends with someone who’s full time job is taking care of her body) that I’ve literally slept through all of 2020 because I am literally in bed at least 20+ hrs a day and asleep 16-22 hours. I hate it so much but it’s where I’m at and I try not to beat myself up too hard cause I didn’t choose this life but it’s hard when I know most 29 year olds have a degree and a career and a family and I’m not even able to sit upright for long periods of time. But anyways that’s enough of me whining, just wanted to let you know that I totally get it and also I love your vlogs and your whole channel and appreciate you 🥰

    Watching you prepare food is satisfying because I know what it's like to feed teens! I think preparing and cooking food can take so much longer when you're feeding teens (especially without double ovens!). What are your thoughts on that?

    Is there anyway that you can set up a bed-desk situation? I know that working in bed is ~terrible~ but like if it's what you have to do...

      I’ve had that magical being in bed for 18 hours a day at least level and in order to get anything done I have to do things in bed! It’s efficient and you can lay back and take breaks at well without walking. I am in a wheelchair so having to transfer from the bed to the wheelchair and then wheel around transfer again try to get comfortable hang out for a while I also have kidney disease so got to get up to P transfer again lather rinse repeat. Your sister was right Cindy...If I am sitting outside in the sun in my wheelchair it’s like a golden moment, if I was also getting something done at the same time it would be even better LOL. I think I’m gonna wander off and check out your Patreon page…

    Hi, Cindy, it's really cool to hear you talk about how you can't do as much as you want or as much as others want from you and how ok with that you are. I'd really like to hear how you break down tasks I find doing like anything really hard and I haven't worked out why yet life just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. How do you manage to be on time for things when you don't have alarms or such to remind you of the time.

    Cindy - one thing you may find handy is a mask lanyard. If you are going in and out of places it is handy to not have to carry or store the mask - just wear it like a necklace / reading glasses :)

    I would love to see how you do the freelance work for Kristin, that always intrigued me.
    As far as chronic pain goes, I had a bad day yesterday and trying to catch up on the things I didn’t get done is a bitch but adulting...imma right? But you’re right, I can’t judge what you get done and what I get done in a day, we may be in pain but I don’t know what your pain is like compared to mine so I can’t get down on myself for not getting the things I had written down in my journal. Just have to talk myself out of feeling bad and today is another day to get those things done, hope your feeling better today! Hugs 🤗

    Cindy, I just discovered you maybe last week and I have gone through at least half your content already. It's upsetting to hear about someone's chronic pain and not be able to have a solution. You are inspiring me to look into a Squarespace blog. While I don't have chronic physical pain on my plate, I have been dealing with anxiety since I was about 12/13 yrs (28 yrs. currently) and more recently severe depression after having my 14 yr old cat, and closest confidant crossing the rainbow bridge in January of this year. He passed from Chronic Kidney Failure (which happened almost within a weeks span of time). He was diabetic for 7 yrs and most of my life lovingly revolved around him. These days it's hard to get up, my heart says "what for? You have nothing to do, you have nothing left." But I get up usually an hour late and try to be the adult who still goes to work, pays her bills, and brushes her teeth.. while feeling half dead. I hope this doesn't read as insulting. If you manage to get through your day feeling like crap (or crap ^2) physically, which I'm sure also affects you emotionally.. I should be able to do that very same thing. I think I can even spell your name drunk XD

      I understand. I still miss my cat who died seven years ago and have had anxiety and depression for most of my life. You can't replace your little darling, but I suggest looking into adopting another one. I also love the two I have now. Wishing you all the best.

    I hate that you deal with so much pain. As someone who deals with chronic pain/invisible illness, it's hard to see someone else in pain. I'm sure you don't have near as many hours in a day as beyonce! I don't even have as many days in a week as she has. But I doubt she could deal with the pain I deal with and still do what I do! So there! If she had your pain, she'd quit! Take care of yourself, please. You work circles around beyonce!! It takes SO much more effort when everything is a push, every task a struggle. Some days I can pretend I'm ok. Some days I can't walk down the hall. No days show up as a beyonce day. Not even like beyonce's grandmother!! Ha! OK, I laughed at my own joke. Stay strong. I'm rooting for you.

    I'm having a flair up of my chronic pain today (this whole past week really). I'm trying to give myself some grace and compassion around the lack of ability to get things done around my house. I can only do what I can do today. And while I would never wish chronic pain on anyone, it is nice to know I'm not alone in the struggles.

    Question: how did you start explaining your sharif being (or I ABA to be) during flare ups. As a work outa the home person I can’t just lay down even when blinking is too painful. I feel like I come across as complaining or always “woe is me”
    (That was really long for what I was trying to say lol. )

    • @fromthecat
      @fromthecat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that happens because we often so used to explaining ourselves. At some point we have to stop asking "Can I go home" and just say "I'm in pain, I have to go home". It's no easy feat!
