Talk about unique sound, check out ONF's Sukhumvit Swimming or Ugly Dance (yes it is on and off). Bye My Monster mixes in Rachmaninoff's Symphony No 2 as well. They try so many different things. I think that is why I enjoy their music so much as it is always different but in an ONF way

There were so many great songs this year already....but, although I dint follow ONF as much as other groups, this is my number 1 song of 2024. If this doesnt end up as the most listened song on my spotify then idek. This has sooo much of 2nd gen vibe. Love it.

love ONF! They have a dedicated producer with a classical background who works exclusively with them and has been with them since before their debut. Their discography is not confined to any particular genre or trend, making it hard to find any of their songs that sound similar. Additionally, their lyrics are beautiful. Unlike groups with a hip-hop or pop base, their music has a distinctly Korean feel that is somehow nostalgic. As the first K-pop group to enlist in the military together, they are showing promising momentum for their second chapter. I recommend listening to "Goosebumps" "Beautiful Beautiful" "Sukhumvit Swimming" and "My Genesis." Speaking of Disney, there is "My Song," which, although it might not match your usual taste, reminds me of Disney animations. Sorry for the length!

The orchestral segment is actually a sample of Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 Movement III

thank you for checking them out. Yess ONF is a group I always go to because their vocals and instrumentals are crazy. They have a very unique sound, but they never necessarily stick to a certain genre. They can go from dramatic to fun to retro, etc, you never know what they'll release. Goosebumps and Ugly Dance are probably my favorite songs, but literally any song by them is good. I highly recommend their discography.

I haven't had many occasions to say this, but the Wiki page was right. ONF is pronounced as 'on and off'. I'd personally recommend their songs 'We Must Love' and 'Goosebumps'

Thanks for your reaction! ONF mix genres quite often within their songs! For a similar approach among their title tracks, I would recommend “Sukhumvit Swimming” and “Goosebumps” (very different from “Bye My Monster”), also “Ugly Dance” if you want to check out their more ‘hiphop-ish’ side (with a twist) or “Why” for more rapping parts. ONF’s music initially leans more towards vocal-heavy EDM/Pop since they officially have only one rapper (and the other members taking turns in rapping depending on the song), so the amount of rap-focused songs in their discography can be counted on a single hand LOL

glad to see a reaction to this song. finding first time reaction to any group i like is always fun especially when it's for a really good track(it is this song that made me listen to their other songs)...i think you picked some good comments to give an idea on what to expect of the song...as an old time kpop listener...i agree the song definitely reminds me of good 2nd gen kpop(not just any 2nd gen kpop), well not exactly just by the sound but the feel to it, and the quality. and when i think of mixing orchestra/classical sound with rock i think of some SS501 songs particularly, like Love Ya and Find and maybe to less of that blend extent Fighter and Unlock, also ZE:A's Ghost of Wind which is not really a mix with rock and i don't really associate with this song but has that orchestra/classical sound at forefront. well...those are some of the 2nd gen groups i love..so yeah. some kpop fans i've seen comparing this to Infinite songs but as someone who don't really listen to Infinite naturally i've no opinion on that. but comparing to songs i mentioned, this song definitely feels like it has more sense of completion/variety/sections to it that actually sound cohesive, but that depends on what you're looking for in a song, back then kpop's goal wasn't to have as many different sections in one song but now a song gets called boring when it doesn't do that so much so that many songs have segments that sounds jarring probly to fulfill the shock factor, so what do i know lol. (but as a result of movement against that...maybe, the newest kpop trend is to make songs as bland and monotonous as possible to be 'vibey' or 'chill'...ugh...) anyway, if you're looking for more hiphopish sound, you can try their other songs mentioned by other comments since they only have a few songs that i know with this kind of vibe/sound, though this is the most elaborate in terms of instrumentation n probly the most 'elegant' one, despite the title has monster in it lol. for me this is definitely best title track in kpop for 2024, no need to wait to year end since even all the songs that have been released and got high praises in reviews don't impress me much so i'm sure this is THAT song of the year for me, then again maybe i'm just one of those annoying nostalgic 2nd gen fans😅.

it is indeed pronounced as On N Off ! it's linked to their (usually) futuristic and scifi vibe and also the fact that they have two units : the ON team and the OFF team !
the ON team is basically the vocals team, they're the ones that do the high notes at the end
the OFF team is their dance counterparts !
each team has its leader : the ON team is lead by Hyojin and the OFF team by Seungjun ! fun fact, these two have been friends for 17 years now !
