It’s not a purely logical purchase. I can buy practically any car and have 6 currently. But the Mini is by far my favorite and it’s a love affair for sure.
And it has been 100% trouble free in the 4 years I’ve owned it.
    Thanks for the great content!

Yeah, but how much use does it see? How many miles/kms on it? I've seen too many videos about catastrophic engine failures, turbo failures and electrical issues on these over the years to ever trust the brand.

I have the new Countryman S - it’s the maxi MINI which is much more practical for my needs. It’s not perfect but love how it drives and the design. A lot of Miniacs hate it because of its size. But there are still small MInIs for those who want that. People want larger cars now and MINI is a brand not a size per se. my Countryman S is still a sub compact SUV and I will be able to tow a teardrop trailer with it! Great review as always!

A niche car, for sure. It's too bad that manual transmissions are being phased out. Minis are fun to drive, but the maintenance and repair costs are astronomical and must be factored in seriously if one is to consider owning one. At least the reliability has improved. Great video as usual guys. I love the new design except for the light colored cloth on the dash and doors. It seems to be a trend in the industry right now which is a shame because everybody knows Dashes get covered in dust within a few days of driving and being light cloth It will look terrible after a couple years since cloth stains and it can’t be simply wiped off with a wet rag like plastics. I know hard plastic isn’t the most luxurious but I’d mulch rather have clean plastic than dingy cloth.

The new interior together with the new buttons and toggles looks really cheap. Not to the level of the price they are asking for and definitely a step back from the previous gen. of Mini Coopers. I am glad they kept the round headlights, though. Also if you fancy a Mini, then you will never even look at the 4 alternatives they mentioned here. (I am a Mini owner) Would probably go for something like a Mazda Maida instead which as more characters and a statement.

A lot of Mini enthusiast are not happy with the new Cooper. Mainly because it lost its manual, but also the S lost its hood scoop, and the exhaust pipes are now hidden. It still looks like a Mini, unlike the new Countryman which many Mini enthusiast dislike even more.

Hello - to the Motormouth couple.
I've just watched (and liked 👍🏼) your review of the F66 MINI Cooper S… after driving 80 miles in my F66 Cooper C (which has the 1.5 litre / 3-cylinder engine in Europe).
    A couple of quick points;
    - re: the response speed of the (Operating System 9) infotainment system on your test car… this didn't look particularly slow on your video - but it might've needed an OTA update. Did you check this?
The current version is 03/2024.52… but there is an update coming (which OS9 equipped BMWs are getting first).
My car doesn't have any noticeable lag… but changing between the 'Experience' modes does take a few seconds because, for example, the sunroof might be closed as part of this process.
Unlike some F66 early-adopters, I've had zero glitches with the infotainment system… and my car is a total delight to drive.
    - re: the date when the J01 MINI Cooper E & SE models will reach Canada and the US… BMW/MINI has announced that this won't be until production moves from China (currently) to the Oxford plant - which is due to happen in 2026. So, the best guess is that you won't see these models until 2027.
BTW: I took the Oxford plant tour during the week my car that my car was scheduled to be finished… and I missed seeing it in the final assembly area by less than 2 hours! During my tour, we were driven past a massive construction site… which is where the new production facility for the electric models is being built.
    - one final point, re: the lack of a manual gearbox… I've previously owned several manual MINIs - including an F56. It's very subjective, of course, but I think the 7-speed DCT is so good - I just can't see any benefit at all in having a manual gearbox. Over here, the Sport model includes the 'Sport transmission' with paddle-shifters - but I don't think that's the same for North America.
I like the format of your reviews - and I'll definitely watch some more.

I don't think the alternative cars to consider toward the end of the Video is fair for the mini. There is no other cars being offered at the moment in the same category as the mini. GTI, Civic, M3, Corolla are a larger category and don't offer the same driving experience. Not saying that the other 4 cars aren't fun. But Mini 3 doors sits alone in this category at the moment. Btw, I just watched Matt's (Carwow) review of the Mini EV for the EU market, the back seat room looked anlot tighter than this gas version. Is the gas version really bigger?

I have a 2023 Cooper S and I CANNOT see stop lights from the driver's seat. There is no good seating position for ideal visibility. I really appreciate you for pointing this out with the new model. Love a lot about the car but so many reviews miss this important fact. It is dangerous and a deal breaker for me with future Minis.

The newer Mini's have a more raked windshield now. I didn't have a problem w/ it during my test drive.

BMW pricing the margins on these out the door must be approaching criminal.

It's subjective, of course, but I have to disagree. This new Mini, to me, looks cheap and tacky inside and out. I'd definitely pass on this gen.

Still require premium? As long as Mini does, it will always be a no sale! By setting up profiles, is Mini selling your data and snitching to your insurance company?
