this was 6 years ago but what he meant was 2-5 mins for 45 ppl in that dorm to be showered and changed not 2-5 for each person. i was lucky to get 30 seconds but most of the time i literally just washed myself with water and that’s it
Hey man just wanted to say thanks for all the great info you put out. It's helped learn a lot about what to expects at BMT and Air Force life in general. I just got cleared to attend MEPS and hope to by November 1st. Again thank you.
I was in the 320th Squadron last Winter. I discovered how much a treat "Disneyland" was as compared to them older dorms. Especially when I got transferred to the Medhold dorms. When I was in the Medhold dorms I heard some girl had been in there for about a year after getting injured within the first week or so! It's good to see the new backpacks. The web belts were a pain! Ha.
That was my squadron! It's now the new 324th knights, but when I was in, it was 322nd Gold eagles, and had changed to DET5. My flight was the first round to have graduated as Detachment 5 before they brought back the 324th. Mine and my brother flight had to set up pretty much every single dorm room in the squadron because that building wasn't in use before.
Amazing video. I have a lot of Air Force personel in my family including my dad who was in the 321st TRS in 2000. Today my cousin graduates from the 322nd TRS, and eventually after college I will go to BMT too.
Just graduated last month. I'd like to add that these type of dorms are not for most of the trainees. The new dorms that most trainees are in, are much, much nicer.
Everyone thought they were so cool for being in the new dorms but the 324th is where its at ahah! Even if we had 6/8 shower heads and are rlly old and our dryers were in a diff place and all this stuff ahah. I loved it!
Watching this gave me chills! Looks exactly like the 321st TRS I lived in during BMT. As crazy as it sounds, I would do anything to go back and do BMT again.
Dude!!! You were at BMT the week I graduated. I wish I could've met you, I was in the new dorms though :( I'm at the TACP school house now training. But the people in this video are people that I went to airman's week with. So jealous
I remember a laundry room on the first floor. The room had soda and candy machines. I am uncertain if smoking was allowed (1968), but I did sneak a few cigarettes.
I'm use to that kind of marching and drilling, from NYPD Explorers program in High school. I believe I'll be just fine for Basic Training. I switched from Army to Navy now signing up for the Air force! Im so excited plus I know more people thats been in the Air force plus I feel i'll enjoy it! AIM HIGH :)
I walk by the 324th every day! I'm in Tech school right now for Security Forces! I graduated Dec 7th 2018. I was 321st TRS FLT 039! I did KP for the 324th. Low..Slow...Kill everything below!
Unfortunately ..I was with the first group to get backpacks on July 26th..I cannot tell you the disappointment when I saw a wall full of them in the Pfingston..BUT they gave us EVERYTHING in that bag(towels, tuberware, soap, shampoo, flashlight(not the Lackland Laser.💀) etc.)That was probably the most disorganized BMT cycle in history because no MTI knew wth was going on..All that room for A BMTSG and a canteen.🙄 but we did get Web belts for BEAST Week and hated them with a undying passion.
so that mti that was marching them was my mti at the 324. I won't say names becuse I don't want to violate anything. but he was an awesome man that helped me so much.
I was in the very first flight to get the backpacks, it started july 26th. we had alot of trial and error with the MTIs cause they didnt know what to do with them haha. they were nice to have but sucked to march around with
Nick Mola-Vongtheva that was my dorm as well, except it wasn't the 324th when I was in. It was first the 322nd when I went in and then I graduated as DET5
I ship Nov. 29th.. Do you know if we get "Christmas exodus"? (where you go home in the middle of BMT for the holidays) my brother is in the Army & he was able to come home from BCT for the holidays and returned to training the after New Years.
I left nov 15th of last year. Stayed there for christmas and new years. We had a christmas themed lunch and dinner...really awkward...basically 2 days off. Best to fold your clothes and clip strings those days. In addition they brought a tv in and played christmas movies. I just secretly slept through those.
been watching your videos for a while now i plan on enlisting into the AirForce in early November of 2016 (mom wants me to wait till the election) and i want to go into Combat Control. do you know much bout them? or how to get started in the pipeline? if you do could you make a video summarizing all of the airforce's spec ops. (TACP, SOWT, CCT, PJ, JTAC)
TheGodfather I would highly recommend against going for Combat control unless you are in the best physical and mental shape around. Because if you wash out of the 2 year long training(95% wash out rate) then you will be reclassed into something you will hate
Can you please do a video where you drive and possibly go into The Minot ArtSpace Loft apartments I really wanna transfer colleges to there and I want to get one of those apartments cause they look so nice And maybe see what stores are nearby haha please :) so I could work somewhere or somewhere I can eat groceries also haha please
nothing is the same between any branch I'm actually just about to graduate tech school and the squadron that wildblueyonder is showing here is the one I was in, just remember all branches are paid the same and everyone gets the same benefits
patrick Tighe Thanks :). The one part that I don't like about the Navy though is not being able to communicate with your family for months :(. By the way do you guys have to swim for your PFA (I don't know what they call that in the Airforce either)
+WildBlueYonder Quick question: do you need to know how to fly an aircraft just do in-flight refueling?? And what is the minimum score to be qualified for in-flight refueling? if you know
I have to be honest, 2-5 minutes for a shower is a blessing
Chris Andrade For real tho!
Right tho, went to a quasi-military academy for six months and we only got 1and a half minutes.
assuming the MTI doesn't watch you shower
2-5 min per flight. I never got 2-5 mins for just myself.
this was 6 years ago but what he meant was 2-5 mins for 45 ppl in that dorm to be showered and changed not 2-5 for each person. i was lucky to get 30 seconds but most of the time i literally just washed myself with water and that’s it
whooo looks better than I expected. I can't wait to be there in 2017!!
same here

Imma sign up later this year and hopefully be in by February or march
Your support to ur friend is commendable. Glad you were able to show an up to date tour. Helps a lot of people out.
Hey man just wanted to say thanks for all the great info you put out. It's helped learn a lot about what to expects at BMT and Air Force life in general. I just got cleared to attend MEPS and hope to by November 1st. Again thank you.

I was in the OLD DORMS in 1978. They were fairly new back then.
Brings back memories! I was there in 1990
It probably has changed quite a bit
Watching this gave me chills! Looks exactly like the 321st TRS I lived in during BMT. As crazy as it sounds, I would do anything to go back and do BMT again.
So cool! That's my squadron that I graduated from 2 weeks ago and that was our team member TI calling the cadence!
Dude!!! You were at BMT the week I graduated. I wish I could've met you, I was in the new dorms though :( I'm at the TACP school house now training. But the people in this video are people that I went to airman's week with. So jealous
I've only been in a year but this takes me back! Man they don't know the struggle of web belts lol, cool vid
Looks just the same as when I was there in 1984.
this was awesome to see and hear about female dorms! especially the shower times!
10 more days! Let's do this!!!
I went to BMT. Up until the 2 WOT, I was in Disneyland, but when I got sent to MedHold I was in Alcatraz.
I just graduated last Thursday.. Squadron 324 Flight 716, Section 2 Alcatraz, A-7. BMT was fun, but I would NOT do it again. Lol
I remember a laundry room on the first floor. The room had soda and candy machines. I am uncertain if smoking was allowed (1968), but I did sneak a few cigarettes.
I graduated from BMT on Sept. 16, and yes we did have backpacks. No more web belts
that's the pretty girl from Alaska!! aww sweet!!
Leonard Collier when they went to Whittier Alaska
322nd Eagle. (Blue) Man BMT has changed. I graduated in Feb and things have changed alot since
They got backpacks/camelbacks one or two weeks after my graduation.

Holy crap that's the 324th! Was my old BMT sq. Knights!

I switched from Army to Navy now signing up for the Air force! Im so excited plus I know more people thats been in the Air force plus I feel i'll enjoy it! AIM HIGH :)
Graduated July 15 and wow it's gotten worse there we would get in so much trouble for those beds and those backpacks!
Backpacks started for the trainees arriving on august 2nd.
I walk by the 324th every day! I'm in Tech school right now for Security Forces! I graduated Dec 7th 2018. I was 321st TRS FLT 039! I did KP for the 324th. Low..Slow...Kill everything below!
so you get no privacy while you're showering.....well that sucks
I wonder if that's his gf Airman Foltz
OMFG, FLASHBACKS OF NAM!!!
You're there the same time my best friend just graduated!
I saw you walking around the squadron and I wanted to go up to you and say hi but I was in formation 😂
man Disneyland (new dorms) are pretty nice , comparatively to the Others
I can easily say that I enjoyed Disneyland a lot more than if I were to be in Alcatraz (old dorms).
why do u call it disneyland?
the easy squadrons are called disney land because they're not too hard on you
ugh med hold was in the old dorms
that’s my squadron 324 TRS graduated last week
Unfortunately ..I was with the first group to get backpacks on July 26th..I cannot tell you the disappointment when I saw a wall full of them in the Pfingston..BUT they gave us EVERYTHING in that bag(towels, tuberware, soap, shampoo, flashlight(not the Lackland Laser.💀) etc.)That was probably the most disorganized BMT cycle in history because no MTI knew wth was going on..All that room for A BMTSG and a canteen.🙄 but we did get Web belts for BEAST Week and hated them with a undying passion.

didn't even know they had double bunk beds at bmt guess these were at old dorms I was at two squandrons gators and mustang because of coronavirus.
That bathroom had dividers... are all BMT latrines like that? Or is it just cuz it’s a female dorm or the new ones or something ?
So many memories. I was in the new dorms though 😂😂😂😂😂

Hello Wild Blue Yonder ,
What are some things that are different than what you thought it would be like when first joining ?

I ship Nov. 29th.. Do you know if we get "Christmas exodus"? (where you go home in the middle of BMT for the holidays) my brother is in the Army & he was able to come home from BCT for the holidays and returned to training the after New Years.

been watching your videos for a while now i plan on enlisting into the AirForce in early November of 2016 (mom wants me to wait till the election) and i want to go into Combat Control. do you know much bout them? or how to get started in the pipeline? if you do could you make a video summarizing all of the airforce's spec ops. (TACP, SOWT, CCT, PJ, JTAC)
TheGodfather I'm in DEP for TACP. Go to Specialtactics.com or shadowspear.com or the enlisted Air Force forums and you will get answers to all of that
TheGodfather I would highly recommend against going for Combat control unless you are in the best physical and mental shape around. Because if you wash out of the 2 year long training(95% wash out rate) then you will be reclassed into something you will hate
I can smell this video
324 Knights BB!
@wildblueyonder is their any way I could contact you for personal questions for the Air Force? I am 17 and looking to go
Do you get to shower in front of everybody while they look at you?!

What is all in the bag that give you at Basic
Is BMT like the Airforce's version of A school?
I just looked it up, it looks like it's boot camp
it's BMT or basic military training our version of A school comes after which is called tech school
Nice, thanks! I'm thinking of joining the Navy but it seems like the vocabulary in between branches is so different haha.
nothing is the same between any branch I'm actually just about to graduate tech school and the squadron that wildblueyonder is showing here is the one I was in, just remember all branches are paid the same and everyone gets the same benefits
patrick Tighe Thanks :). The one part that I don't like about the Navy though is not being able to communicate with your family for months :(. By the way do you guys have to swim for your PFA (I don't know what they call that in the Airforce either)
322ND, SECOND TO NONE!
Hey I was wondering who wears flight suits in the air force besides pilots? what jobs wear flight suits?
I know loadmasters and boom operators wear them
israel portillo anybody who's airborne. So if you fly- you wear a flight suit 😎
+WildBlueYonder Quick question: do you need to know how to fly an aircraft just do in-flight refueling?? And what is the minimum score to be qualified for in-flight refueling? if you know
All Aircrew positions and some Aeromedical jobs
