- The new Majorelle shirt and shirtdress from Itch to Stitch is a fun project with lovely details, only 4-5 pattern pieces. I love how easy the raglan sleeves and the gathered neckline into the banded collar. I have my shirt to share and love the result!

I had my eyes on this pattern because I love raglan sleeves! I was not sure about the gathers around the neck. You convinced me.

This is pretty, and I like the small print on you. Very nice. I don't mind the elasticated wrist, but it might be nice with a few rows of shirring as well, as an option, I would try for myself. I do hope you make this up in a dress too.
I like the look of shirring but can't have the tread touching my skin... I get a rash and wounds... it's a bummer.

I’m picturing it sewn up in a crinkle rayon with short sleeves and matching wide leg pants so it looks like a jumpsuit, plus a skirt for the dress look. Yes!

I was turned off by the collar frill when I received my email, but I really like your variation and now I'm motivated to sew this design.
It's not my favorite thing but it's just an option. The banded collar on it's own is classic,
I have a solution with regard to "too short" sleeves if they are making your inner perfectionistic sad (!). If you have fabric remaining, you can insert a piece, about 10 cm above the wrist, and make horizontal tucks that hide the seams where you inserted the new piece. It actually looks really good and I have seen blouses in Talbot's where they did this on purpose as part of the design (without the insertion seams of course). They used about 5-7 cm additional length to make it full looking.
Yep, when I get home, I have more fabric and will add some length.... the print will hide the seams well :)

What an easy way to sew a button placket - why is it ever done as a separate piece??

Hi Karina, thanks for this great review/tutorial. You're lucky to have all that you need for sewing in Chile. Just to clarify, did you use your high bust or full bust measurement when choosing your size for this pattern? Cheers, Tracey
With Itch to stitch you determine your cup size by measuring the difference between the high and full bust and then you choose the size based on the full bust as per the size chart.
Lovely top, I do have one question, why did you use a modified burrito method on the collar?
I didn’t use any burrito method on the collar. I sewed the collar reversed like I always do.

I like your beautiful purses, but prefer you model without them. Holding the purses limits the movements of your arms and often covers details of your garment.
I've been showing them from afar and then taking it off when I come closer :)
