    Roll top of blade to back and it won't dig going under. if this was done on concert in the shop it would have cut a huge groove in the floor😂.
    But yeah, most operators aren't aware of this because most don't do back slopes anymore. A lost art.
    I have a late 60s 14E CAT for my personal snow plow and driveway maintenance. All mechanical and it's capable of this task, just takes more work
    💪😜.
    This is way they had ginny hops back in the day (a labor who walked along cleaning the redheads/bluetops and pulling pins when things needed adjustment for different task.
    I run this same 872D at work and love it, and I use this for back sloping now and again, changing blades, or just cleaning off as you did.

    @YensR yes the beam with the holes locks it in place... you just release the lock and use the blade lift cylinders and the circle shift cylinder to "swing" the saddle left or right which ever side you are moving it to once you get to the desired position you lock it and shift the circle and the moldboard to the same side and pull in the upper lift cylinder

    "Saddle" - ha! Never knew what this was called - makes total sense.
    Can you explain in simple terms how you swing it out?
    I assume you use the third main cylinder and alternate between a locked saddle and a moveable saddle. The lever/beam with the holes in it is the part that can get locked into place, I assume?

    Lame. Made a big gouge in the grade. You need to do it without leaving marks. Should only take 60 sec to shift the circle out rotate the mix board 180 degrees and return it. That's a why there is teeth all around the circle.

    • @iviars420

      Btw 872gp is junk. 772gp is the better option

    • @big04cummins
      @big04cummins  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In what application would you ever need to rotate the circle 180 degrees? Who gives a fuck if there's a few marks on the grade the seeding contractor is going to disk it up and drill it anyway. Also we own a 872D and a 772D, the 872 will kick the shit out of the 772 in every possible application that you can run them in... and it's called a "mold board"

    • @iviars420
      @iviars420 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Auto correct on phone changed it. If you don't know why you would need to rotate it 180 degrees then you need more experience on different projects. Quality of work matters no matter what the project. I bet you have the same attitude on a finish site.
      No comment on the D models, only on the gp's like my comment said. Company was good enough to get the new ones

    • @big04cummins
      @big04cummins  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      john owen I agree quality of work matters but with operating costs these days if the tolerance on rough grade is +/- 0.10 Ft then there's no need to spend the time blue topping it to 0. In my short 15 years of operating I've never found an application where you could rotate the blade 180 and still be productive with the machine. I'm sure I'm going to catch hell for saying this but we use Trimble grade control on our graders GPS for rough +/- 0.10 ft Grading and UTS for fine +/- 0.02 ft grading. However we do see some pretty high production levels out of our grade control I think our best day of grading with the UTS cutting subgrade for foundation coarse on an interstate repaving project is right around 20,000 sy in 10 hours.

    • @lightningstruck93
      @lightningstruck93 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      john owen I'm rather curious why you say that. The 872 has a thicker mainframe, beefer engine frame, slightly stouter transmission, and more HP. Otherwise it's practically identical to a 772.
