Watts is the biggest lie in Audio ! It's not how many watts that matter but the quality of watts that matters the Yammie is rated at 90 watts @ 8 ohms and 160 watts at 4 ohms But it's a very powerful 90 watts at 52 pounds of class AB power it blows the doors off my 150/300 watt emotiva amp that weighs 25 pounds 😆 And Yammie has 105 watts of dynamic power into 8 ohms and 165 watts of dynamic power into 4 ohms
Heck Yeah ! I was in 3rd grade when this Tape came out , And I was rocking out back then with my Sounddesighn Boom-box system ,that had red LED power meters that added atleast a couple db of fun 😆

HI Tee-Jay, Great review! Thanks, I wish more people were like you and Ron too. I have a question. I have a someone selling this for 1k euros and am seriously considering it. My only thing is the 2100 (it will push my budget more than I want) but is it worth it? I don't really use the headphones (blutooth is better for me in this case) but I do have a Rega p3 and I read that the pre-amp seemed better on the 2100. - But the jump is 500 Euros more at that point. I will be running some Klipsch RB 81 II's on it (until my next upgrade). I had thought of getting an active sub, but maybe with this I won't need to if it's that deep. I saw the quick comparison between the two that you did. But thought I would dig into some more details at that point. Thanks in advance.
Excellent review, thnx for that! Very much in depth, appreciate that a lot. One question though: When connecting an equalizer to the tape connection; how do i choose the source listening to? Isn't it better to connect the equalizer at the pre out and main in instead? Greetings from The Netherlands, much appreciated!
Just like you always do , jusy hook up threw tape and it will work threw all seettings i have a Sansui SE9 eq I don't use witb Yammy but i do use with my Sansui g-8000 smile
Big difference ! I owned the AS-801 also and the AS-1100 is a 👹 . Totally on another level and should be for the price point AS-1100 is a 52 pound mosphete Amplifier
Nice amp. I bet it sounds as great as it looks but I’m a little confused you mention that the amp has high voltage and low impedance? I’ve not heard amps being rated in that manner. Maybe someone can educate me on this topic. 🤔
Its a high power dc voltage ampliefier that will drive to low impendences with speakers that like to drop down in ohms to produce that deep bass , Some ampliefiers dont like driving speakers below 6ohms and the Yamaha can with its big power supply has no problem going down to 2 ohms
Speakers are not resistive loads, but impedance, and it swings all over the place depending on the frequency.. Some speakers go 'down down down' to 2 Ohms or even less. It really stresses an amp. Some amps will sound terrible or even blow a final stage or the protector will kick in. To drive that sort of load you need AMPS. This pitbull has it in spades, so it won't be fussy about whatever speaker you plug into it.
Amazing video as always brother I love the detail and all the information that you give us I think this is an easy decision for me thanks for your video question do you have a website or where I can order this amplifier from thanks for any advice and help that you can give me as always buddy
Hi Tee-Jay, congrats for another excellent review. How would you compare this Yamaha AS-1100 integrated to the Schiit Freya + preamp and the XTZ Edge A2-300 power amp combo?? Which one would be better in pure sonic terms, what would be your pick?? Price wise they are basically the same here in my country...Thanks
Thats an easy one for me 😆 Yamaha all day long. Why ? Msrp of Yamaha was 3k , And the focus was on nothing but sound quality and build quality, no built in digital componetes And Yamaha is 52 pounds of muscle all nichicon gold caps a few blacks but the build quality of the Yamaha in my opion far outweighs The build quality of freya plus and XTZ edge of what i have saw from pics , In My country the Schiit Freya plus is 900.00US and XTZ is 400.00 total of 1300 bucks vs the Yamaha now being 1899.00-2499.00US I tell ya the Yamaha after 200 hours has warmed up a lil and the Mosphetes do have that sound charcter of tubes with crazy dynamic swings , But I have never heard the Combo your talking about, so i can only go on build quality I think the freya plus ➕ 2 of Schiits mono Amps would be a better comparrsion, Yamaha has serious Torque power Well 🏋 weight I have been wanting to get the Freya Plus also , But i settled on the new Modious d.a.c. that will be arriving soon for a review . But go with what you like, that Freya is most likely a dam good Pre-amp , THE way Thomas and Stereo talked about the regular freya preamp has gotten me wanting one 😆 Thomas has had alot of expierence with tubes I highly reccomend his channel
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 Thanks very much Tee-Jay..over here in Romania the Freya XTZ combo goes for 1400$ while the Yamaha AS 1100 is 1500$ ..The price dropped considerably since the introduction of the new AS 1200..2200..series...It think I'll take the plunge on the Yammie but I'll have to hurry up because they go fast.. Hi Tee Jay great review!!! New subscriber here. I also have a brand new AS1100 Integrated Amp, also bought it at a great price. It´s a fantastic amp and I love its looks and VU meters! It’s working perfectly, however the right channel heat sink gets a little bit warmer than the left one, you can easily feel it by touching the metal case. Using a laser temp. meter it is between 3 and 4 celsius degrees more. It never runs hot at all, but there is this temperature difference. Both channels are working perfectly and the balance dial is in the middle position, there is not any kind of problem with the amp or the source, just wondering if this is normal and the same happens with your amp. Tks.
I never tried testing the temp out , but I will know that you said this , should be close in temp but i dought any amp will be perfect with heat . I will see whats up thank you for subscribing thats a badass amp you got there !
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 thanks Tee Jay exactly, I suppose it is normal but please let me know when you test out yours just to know. Im amazed with the performance of the amp. Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File good I was worried about them not being able to handle the large woofers. My RN803 has trouble getting the bass with them that they need.
I have only seen it at its lowest at 1899.00US resale market yes i have seen them down to 1400.00Us but a guy in 🇷🇴 Romania Said their saling for 1500.00 in his country thats pretty crazy MSRP was 3k U.S. once i seen the price drop I had to get one 😆 Glad i did !
I wonder if this amp will help the bass on the Sony core series towers cs-5 you had?, oh well you probably got rid of the Sony's. the Yamaha as-1100 is a good one to show off under the hood, vrooom vrooom!
Hey Yes the AS-1100 would improve the bass of the Sony CS-5 towers no dought ! I had a video upload that i deleted were i was going over why i started the channel to (personal )and i showed were i put a system together with the Yamaha RX-396 and Sony towers for a gift to a friend who supported me from the get go and the Yamaha RX-396 paired very well with the towers it was 599.00US in 1997 ! So yeah the sonys are gone but on Hi-res files pared with an active subwoofer the Sonys sounded great , I love Sony !!! Thanks for stopping in 😆
Looks nice one thing is I don't think it's real wood more like MDF panels, why do you say real wood how do you know! How did you get hold of the amp did you buy it new or second-hand or on loan. You would say this is your favourite amp so far!! you might like to look out for the sansui 441 receiver hearing good things about it 11 Watts per channel but don't let that put you off they 11 rms is about 110w din going really cheap a sleeper should be able to pick one up for $100 musicality Dynamics has a tuba like sound check one out.
Yes its real wood side pannels very heavy it has cutouts on the inside when placing against the amp where i see the wood grain vains , Did you see pop the hood video ? For the last 2 years i been searching for a New Pure Analog integrated amp for a mid level reference piece and i listened to dozens of Integrated amps even digital integrateds , And for the Price point I am truely impressed with the Yammy So when the price point dropped 1200.00US from MSRP price point I bought the Yammy bran new , Is it the best in the world no theirs no such thing , but being a vintage lover not only did it bring a refinement to the sound it also has that build quality of vintage reliability , will it be for everyone nope not all , but its very powerful with that tube like sound charcter you get from having a solid state amp with high Voltage Mosphetes , I have owned many many Sansui , I just sold my G-8000 that i have pics of in my community pics. But i got an amazing deal on the Yammy with full warranty, And i been wanting also the Sansui AU 111 tube integrated but their pricey !! Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File thanks you, mine is very basic but i got my audience 😊 i watch yours all the time
Keep them coming 👌🏻💪🏻
Ok nice Review what about the power called WATTS BRO
Watts is the biggest lie in Audio !
It's not how many watts that matter but the quality of watts that matters the Yammie is rated at 90 watts @ 8 ohms and 160 watts at 4 ohms
But it's a very powerful 90 watts at 52 pounds of class AB power it blows the doors off my 150/300 watt emotiva amp that weighs 25 pounds 😆 And Yammie has 105 watts of dynamic power into 8 ohms and 165 watts of dynamic power into 4 ohms
Thank you@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120
It’s got BALLS
Man.. no sleep til Brooklyn.. so 80s 🤘🤘
Heck Yeah ! I was in 3rd grade when this Tape came out , And I was rocking out back then with my Sounddesighn Boom-box system ,that had red LED power meters that added atleast a couple db of fun 😆
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I was 16 when it came out. Here in Italy no knew them except for the fact they opened for Madonna tour that year. It took me forever to find that vinyl.. I still have it though ;-) f. good memories 🤘🤘
Thanks in advance.
does this yamaha dethroned your iota vx stack?
Lol just saw this yes its a full step above but almost 3x the price
I was wondering the same thing. I have the iota stack...love it...but wondering how the soundstage and holographic imaging compare?
Excellent review, thnx for that! Very much in depth, appreciate that a lot. One question though: When connecting an equalizer to the tape connection; how do i choose the source listening to? Isn't it better to connect the equalizer at the pre out and main in instead? Greetings from The Netherlands, much appreciated!
Just like you always do , jusy hook up threw tape and it will work threw all seettings i have a Sansui SE9 eq I don't use witb Yammy but i do use with my Sansui g-8000 smile
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 Thanks! Btw, Beasty Boys...Love that!! Crank that sucker up! Hell yeah!!! 🤘
Hello my friend. I have as 801 Yamaha. Do you believe if take as 1100 I see different? Thanks
Big difference ! I owned the AS-801 also and the AS-1100 is a 👹 . Totally on another level and should be for the price point AS-1100 is a 52 pound mosphete Amplifier
Thank you very mush. Others say that not have big different. Power for music. I have 2 floorstanding speakers focal for music only.
Hi How do I connect this amp to my Yamaha rx a6a av receiver? basically what pre-out on my av receiver do I use ?
Do you see a preout for front L/R speaker should be 2 rca female outputs ?
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 yes so do I connect one end of the rca to the main in on the intergraded amp & the other to the av receiver
@@lamarvinbraxton9192 yes then on your input selector put it in direct mode !! Its the last selection on the selector knob 😃
Direct mode means amp only then your Reciever will control the volume -
Preout from A6a and main in into AS-1100 then selector knob turned to direct
So helpful bro thanks highly appreciate it 💯
I'd like the sidepanels on mine in varnished wood instead of laquered. Piano black is not retro, it's old.
Be easy to make panels I thought about it actually thanks for reminding me 😆
Amazing video as always brother I love the detail and all the information that you give us I think this is an easy decision for me thanks for your video question do you have a website or where I can order this amplifier from thanks for any advice and help that you can give me as always buddy
I will tag a link now ! I tried coping from HD Vision but my internet been crazy lately i will try again , thanks for stopping in 😆
Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File Thanks buddy I appreciate that I was thinking about getting another IOTAVX SA3 but I think I want the Yamaha
solid build quality clear sound but no rich deep bass. 🎶🤔
Thats an easy one for me 😆
Yamaha all day long. Why ? Msrp of Yamaha was 3k , And the focus was on nothing but sound quality and build quality, no built in digital componetes And Yamaha is 52 pounds of muscle all nichicon gold caps a few blacks but the build quality of the Yamaha in my opion far outweighs The build quality of freya plus and XTZ edge of what i have saw from pics , In My country the Schiit Freya plus is 900.00US and XTZ is 400.00 total of 1300 bucks vs the Yamaha now being 1899.00-2499.00US
I tell ya the Yamaha after 200 hours has warmed up a lil and the Mosphetes do have that sound charcter of tubes with crazy dynamic swings , But I have never heard the Combo your talking about, so i can only go on build quality
I think the freya plus ➕ 2 of Schiits mono Amps would be a better comparrsion, Yamaha has serious Torque power Well 🏋 weight
I have been wanting to get the
Freya Plus also , But i settled on the new Modious d.a.c. that will be arriving soon for a review . But go with what you like, that Freya is most likely a dam good Pre-amp , THE way Thomas and Stereo talked about the regular freya preamp has gotten me wanting one 😆 Thomas has had alot of expierence with tubes I highly reccomend his channel
Thank you for the comment ! 😆
Thank you cheers
@@ionutplesea5693 i got friends from 🇷🇴 !!
That Freya plus most likely has amazing imaging not trying to confuse your choice though , Just giving you my truthfull opion Yamaha has really good grade Japense internals/componetes If taken care of it will last you for a long time 😆And it has muscle 😆
Hi! very nice review (i also own one and an ifi itube2). could you please detail how to hook the ifi tube2 trough line2 and why it would be different from going dac into ifi set as buffer to line1 or cd input? thanks allot
Personally i would run from the dac to the ifi itube2 then threw line 1 input 😆
Still running this?
Heck yeah ' I own way to many amps but yeah As -1100 is a Gem and very well built but a little pickey with speaker pairing but my Polks Lsim 703 / and even KLH model 7 sound amazing with amp '
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120How does it compare with schiit amps in general
The screw or whatever holding the volume control came loose and the volume control wobbles and I wonder if it’s easy to go in and tighten it up or fix it myself?
Yes you can tighten yourself ! Make sure you set everything to 0 volume to alighn up do you know what size tool you need ?
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I haven’t really tried. It’s really tightly packed in there. So I need to unscrew a lot of stuff to get in there. I’m not even sure what part is lose. Just that it is. :(
People who bought this at $3k... now have to sell their gear around $1k-$1.5... crazy depreciation.
I have only seen 2 place HDvisionworks/and HIFIhaven that sales them for 1899.00US its an E.O.R sale and now only HDvisionworks has them and their about out of Yammy AS 1100 , other companies still at $2499.00 for the AS- 1100
thing is if you by used theirs usaully no warranty
Thats me job to find great deals with warranty
One man's depreciation is another man's bargain... and wager. ;-)
А как он звучит? Качество?
It's bass control is great, dynamics are phenomenal, mid range, clarity, etc.... Serios business and great investment.
@@cnoboa will do Cesar ! Build quality is stunning also !
Dual Mono I think?
Would these power my Polk LSiM 705s okay?
Yes !
Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File good I was worried about them not being able to handle the large woofers. My RN803 has trouble getting the bass with them that they need.
great amplifier !
Thank you , Shes been solid ! Espically for pricepoint
Hey Tjay amazing video as always buddy
I’m trying to decide on the IOTAVX SA3 and amp or Emotiva PT 100 and the A 300 amp.
I need your help brother.
I will do my best For ya 😆 But we all know sound is Subjective what speakers will you be using Felix and how big is your room ?
Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File the room is 18 by 20. I will also need speakers.
@@felixlaboy1453 shoot ! Really depends what you like then what sound you looking for over all
Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File Well I love to listen to everything everything from classical to heavy-metal LOL
@@felixlaboy1453 😆 So many formulas !
Where can i buy this for 1500??red news
I have only seen it at its lowest at 1899.00US resale market yes i have seen them down to 1400.00Us but a guy in 🇷🇴 Romania Said their saling for 1500.00 in his country thats pretty crazy MSRP was 3k U.S. once i seen the price drop I had to get one 😆
Glad i did !
That sexy voice. Go TJ 😅
For the last 2 years i been searching for a New Pure Analog integrated amp for a mid level reference piece and i listened to dozens of Integrated amps even digital integrateds , And for the Price point I am truely impressed with the Yammy So when the price point dropped 1200.00US from MSRP price point
I bought the Yammy bran new , Is it the best in the world no theirs no such thing , but being a vintage lover not only did it bring a refinement to the sound it also has that build quality of vintage reliability , will it be for everyone nope not all , but its very powerful with that tube like sound charcter you get from having a solid state amp with high Voltage Mosphetes , I have owned many many Sansui , I just sold my G-8000 that i have pics of in my community pics. But i got an amazing deal on the Yammy with full warranty,
And i been wanting also the Sansui AU 111 tube integrated but their pricey !!
Is the Yammy my favorite over 33 years being an audiophile I have owned so many amps Over the years it would be hard to say , Synergy between the amp and speakers plays a huge rule also
Thanks for stopping in John always good to see you in the comments !!!
Were you been !!
Dam didn't know i wrote an essay !
Where have I been? here just not left comments and you didn't have much on anyway, I did see the other video.
I forgot to mention you said something about not bi-amping! why should that be a problem! what is its lowest impedance 4 ohms not 2
I gotta say, specs look pretty lame for the money, and looks pretty gutless for 4ohm, really needs an easier load.
@Don P Thanks Don 😆
Soundesign for you then?
