And gives the line re: the handy piece of information to have. 3rd laugh. That's 3 laughs for essentially one joke. He makes it look easy, and it's not. What a pro. I am willing to bet he doesn't drink any liquor on stage. A consummate professional.

In Vegas it's to avoid having their bar become a Gang hangout. If you make people take off their headwear a lot of those types will just move on because they're not taking that off, no way.

He was famous for a decade on prime time, family style comedies. Then all that ended. Time marches on. Now he's back to his standup - and it's downright filthy.

The reason for the no hats thing at least in Vegas is to prevent Gangs from making them their hangout. If they require you to take off your headwear a lot of those type of folks put a lot of stock into their hats etc so they'll go somewhere else. That's why.
Ron was a long time comedian that was infamous amongst American comedians. He was very highly respected (and still is), but his blue nature kept him out of the mainstream, until he teamed up with Foxworthy. That group of 4 guys took America by storm. Ron had to tone his act down a bit to make it more family friendly, but gained name recognition with the public in return. Very funny man!
