Just like so many cancelled games, this one has potential. I really hope one day a studio can pick up these failed efforts and turn them into great games.
At least make the god damn Daredevil game, and a worthy Superman game. Something so incredible and immaculate that humanity forgets Superman 64 ever existed at all. A game worthy of the original and (with new comics featuring the character coming out on the usual weekly or biweekly or monthly basis nonstop with no gaps from 1938 to present day) probably longest continually published superhero.
Zack Snyder has said he only agreed to do Watchmen because if he turned it down there was a chance of someone who didn't love the source material making it. His goal was to compress large amounts of detail into every frame of the movie and during the editing process he was constantly battling with the studio execs over the length
Athletic Gamer Fan 5,000 for whatever reason, there's a sizeable chunk of people out there who DESPISE it. I never got that. I do think there are a couple comic book movies that are better though. And Watchmen is really a story whose full impact can only be felt in the comic book format.
dildonius i think the ones who despise it hate the changes the film made from the source material and not the film itself. Its ironically way too much like a superhero movie where as in the book the focus was on whats behind the masks and how the characters are very normal, real people that dont have superpowers apart from Dr. Manhattan. In the movie theyre all overpowered as heck and are basically superpowered themselves. My opinion dont shoot me also im very tired and probably will forget i wrote this
@@dildonius it feels like there's more people who don't like it then there actually are. It actually got pretty good audience scores (7.6 on IMDB, 71 on RT) and select critics gave it a perfect 100% rating, including Kyle Smith and Roger Ebert. It's just the film's detractors are very loud about their beliefs.
If watchmen were a video game, it would have to be a RPG, in the Bethesda style, keep fighting to a minimum and a emphasis on world building and dialogue, have multiple protagonists with different but interwoven story lines, Rorschach investigating a case, The Comedian back when he was still a vigilante, Ozymandias exploring the world, Manhattan solving living his life simultaneously, etc... we can dream can’t we
It's nice, for once, to hear that the dev of an unreleased game didn't go bankrupt or something. That seems to be the usual for these videos. >Publisher screws devs >Devs go bankrupt >Game dies a death >Company dies a bigger death
Moral of the story. Don't make a company who tries to make video games based on other people's IPs. Make your own. Especially if you don't have anything else going on.
They need to make a Rorschach game! Imagine a good mix of detective work, stealth and action. It would be awesome if Rocksteady would make it. Their work on the Arkham Franchise is amazing.
Wow, fucking Warner Brothers. If they didn't take so damn long to get the contract revised we could have had a pretty badass watchmen game I really like the idea of playing major events in the watchmen's past and going into more detail based on individual character experiences. It kinda reminds me of what the Warriors did in their game, it helps expand on characters you want to know more about in their past and it gives context into future events that actual happens in the movies. Damn shame we'll never be able to experience it.....
ForNoReason considering that the only Flash video game in existence is a 1993 2D side scroller made exclusively for the Sega Master System that was only ever released in Europe (well and also a 1991 GameBoy game based on the 1990 Flash TV show that was released in the USA), I'm gonna go ahead and say yeah, that game never made it to completion. It's probably the cancelled Flash game that DYKG - Unseen 64 made a video about.
7:32 The oddness of your particular British accent exploded right there with the word "year." It sounded like a completely different word to me. "Hoff a yeah!"
Mr. Anderson Ig get's plenty of praise, but I think that it's adaptations and prequels need more care put into them. (Before Watchmen was iffy, I liked the one for Dr Manhattan, but the others ranged from awful to ok). What I'd like to see, is a mini series that was treated sort of like Sin City, where they avoid doing to much deviation from the source. It'd allow for the thing to use more time, meaning that they wouldn't need to cut out huge parts of the story, and would probably allow for all of the character and plot development to take place in a cohesive, decently paced manner.
Mr. Anderson The Watchmen comic is the only comic that got in Time's list of best books of the century. And it has got a lot of awards. The movie should have never happened, Alan Moore never wanted it to happen, it was just a cash grab (like any superheroes movie). And you know, when the actual creator does not want something to be made with his/her creation, it should be a respected decision. This movie to me is a graphic description of saying "I don't care who you are, will it give me money? Let's do it, it's all about the $$$"
So Zack Snyder meddled with a contract for some unknown reason and pushed a studio who seemed like they had interesting ideas into pursuing a different project out of desperation, resulting in another company being commissioned to create something ultimately lacklustre. (slow clap)
Leviadragon More like WB, Zack was trying to help them move in to a better scenario byt WB took much time in trying to revision the contract. Next time do your research before coming up with a desprate attempt to attack Zack.
The End Is Nigh game was actually quite enjoyable for what it was........Still I'd rather be The Comedian in The Vietnam War killing some Viet-Cong!!!!
Suddenly the Batman series doesn't sound original. Seems like both the combat system and the investigation mode idea have been designed by people at bottlerocket.
inverse Manhattan Two companies applied to the same publisher to do the same projects. They had plenty of space for interaction and the publisher liked bottle rocket's ideas, so they could've pitched them to the other team themselves. The combat system shown in the bottle rocket's game looks pretty much identical to the one used in the arkham series. The focus is on the main character jumping between opponents for smoothly transitioning attacks. It's hard to say much on the investigation mode as they never went far with it, but I find myself absolutely reasonable while talking about the combat system.
Zack Snyder not only ruined the DCU but also made a game publisher go out of business because he wasn't pleased with the story and demanded rewrites? The dude can't even write good movies
Great video as usual! I actually really enjoyed Watchmen The end is nigh. (with a friend that is). I think saying it got poor reviews is a bit harsh, I'd call them mixed. Critics score on metacritic is 61, whereas the user score sits at 77. EDIT: I just saw that for the console versions the critics score is around 55. User score is very similar to pc though
I remember reading once that Bottle Rocket were in talks with Namco-Bandai to do the Splatterhouse remake as a PSP game. They even started work on the game before NB pulled the project to finish it themselves and shift platforms to consoles.
It's so messed up that most games covered by Liam tend to end up canceled because some company exec didn't like a contract or didn't think they had a big enough influence in the project.

He's created some of the greatest comics ever made so he has the right to be angry when incompetent people fuck up his works. I'd still love to see tv-series adaptation of his Swamp Thing run.
Hunter Powell My problem with Moore is his own sense of superiority. I understand that as an artist he doesn't want others to ruin his works, and his anger towards most adaptations is definitely warranted. His condescension and general disdain towards fans is uncalled for, however. One prominent example is the fact that he basically said anyone who's a fan of Rorschach is a sociopath. Or when he said trying to analyze the Killing Joke is a waste of time. The man believes he's so above it all, and that's what irritates many fans.
I don't know if people liked or hated the Watchmen film. I watched it recently after finally reading the comic. Besides having to cut out some things for the movie's length (such as Rorschach visiting Moloch only once) and some other changes like making it clear that The Comedian shot JFK, and the changes to the ending, nearly the entire film was lifted straight from the comics. Most lines were taken directly from the comic, and I even liked some of the more obvious changes. If I remember correctly, in the comic, the original Nite Owl was just beaten to death, but in the movie, he goes down fighting, getting a few good punches in, I really liked that. One of the only things that I didn't like were in regards to Ozymandias, I feel like maybe they could've put in a few more of his scenes instead of some others, and the changes with his scenes. I preferred those guys freezing to death in his Arctic lab/home as opposed to dying on the moon. He seemed more complex in the comic, he was less obviously evil, and at the end of the movie he keeps his strong conviction despite everyone disagreeing, but in the comic he keeps a calm composure with his strong convictions until asking Dr. Manhattan and doubting himself "Did I do what's right?" Helped show the humanity of his character, that, even though it it was a pretty awful thing to do, he wanted to do what was best for the human race, and that it was a tough decision to make even for the "smartest man in the world."
It is sad to see how much thought Bottlerocket put into planning their games and how they simply died out due to poor decisions that were mostly not their fault.
