    if less weight was an advantage, a small short man could certainly take in the same shape/weight as a woman, but have a stronger takeoff power.

    Women`s ski jumping is still in its early stages, and they never have any competitions in the ski flying hills yet, hardly even in only large hills where they can jump up to 140. The reason for that I believe is that they can`t fly well enough yet, and aren`t ready for the giant hills, just like it took many many years before men managed the 200 meters.
    But as it develops, I would love to see women try the ski flying hills. The WR for women was set by Daniela Iraschko in Kulm, and it was more a show jump, it wasn`t in a competition. She started from a gate that was way higher up than the men use, but they need of course more speed.

    Landing tracks are too short . Even if the skiers could fly longer , it's not possible to land on the flat part , so since years , performances are limited by the size of the landing track ...

    • @prkp7248
      @prkp7248 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible to land on flat, but it is very overextension for knee and dangerous.
      If you want to see landing on the flat look at Adam Małysz 2002 151,5 jump in Willingen.

    Not really, no.
    It's the same for most sports, men will be stronger, faster and whatnot.
    PS: As a Norwegian I've seen plenty of women do ski flying(which is what it is called here and we invented skis so we use our name, not ski jumping, lol) but compared to men they simply can't fly as far.

    Very inaccurate, rude and chaothic video. Didn’t even mention many key factors: the size of jumping hills, the fact that women, by now, can’t participate in ski flying competitions, the difference of gates from which athletes start their jumps that’s decisive for speed, the fact that the landing space is limited and it is also very dangerous and difficult for athletes to land properly in longest jumps.

    Then how come Andreas Wellinger's jump in Pyeongchang was further then any woman?

    • @melissasaramunoz174
      @melissasaramunoz174 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Andreas Welling's jump on the larger hill was of course farther than the women's jump on a normal hill. If you compare the normal hill results, Maren Lundby landed further than Andreas Wellinger. In the 2018 Olympics, there were no women's events on the larger hill, so it's not fair to compare the men's large hill results to the women's normal hill results.

    • @juliankabatnik5807
      @juliankabatnik5807 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@melissasaramunoz174 Andreas Wellinger jumped 113.5m in the final round of the normal hill whereas Maren Lundby jumped 110m.

    • @melissasaramunoz174
      @melissasaramunoz174 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maren's first run passed Andreas' first run. Ultimately, the men still slightly out jump the men in this event, but only by a small margin. This is somewhat surprising, especially if you compare other sports like running where men completely dominate. The point of the Olympic video is to highlight closeness in the results between the men and women's event.

      @@melissasaramunoz174 Did they jump from the same gate?

    • @ProudOne
      @ProudOne ปีที่แล้ว

      @@melissasaramunoz174 wont matter, Lower center of gravity is a disadvantage rather than an advantage simply cause its harder to go down low with it, greater mass also means far higher speeds downslope, and more strenght means men can jump higher, all in all, men are better at this than women as well.

    Why do women get more bagginess in their clothing??? That doesn't make any sense

    • @thiantromp6607
      @thiantromp6607 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      qdp612 because their clothes simply need to be bigger at some parts of the body.

    • @kwii22789
      @kwii22789 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      wut.. so how do women speed skaters and downhill skiers wear skin tight suits. Exactly same as men for maximum performance?
      The bagginess is for help only. No such thing as comfort in the olympics...

    • @Tabris94
      @Tabris94 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because there is no rule against thhat in those sports. The tighter the suit is, the better. But here it's the opposite, and since being tight is not a priority, they are allowed to get some more space for their bodies.

    • @kwii22789
      @kwii22789 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly.. they aren't forced but they still wear tight things... Also you realize the rule is 1-3cm CONTOURED to their bodies. Which means any body shape can wear it.
      Its like like if in speed skating, men had to wear suits 1-2 cm more baggier than women.
