Ya know somethin? I actually think it would be cool if an anime did something like this; where, the op and ed are the same song, but the ed is a slowed down version of it. Or in a different genre maybe? I'm sure there's an anime that's done this out there right? Right?
This is the last episode of a series where an Ai tries to escape from being trapped in a basement with the help of people on the internet using a hologram. The last episode shows the main Ai character leaving the basement but just before they take a step outside it cuts to black with the words *SIMULATION END* and this version of the song plays with the AI’s robot body hooked up to wires (similar to a puppet). I just need 3 sessions and a movie to make everyone cry.
@austinkaos3682 a variation of this is very popular, called a leitmotif. So if the main theme of a show is upbeat and fun, the sad scenes will have the same tune, but sad and slow for emotional impact. What is symbolises is it represents the same character/theme/message/ group of characters, but now in a different situation. Dune did this with the Atreides theme (strong and triumphant) and the song 'Kiss the Ring' played at the last scene of the second movie, which was melancholic, sad, and tragic (but had the same melody as the other song). And of course, many animes do this too but cant think of examples.
