Interesting video and I like the good close-ups as he is playing. My God people, I love Ace and NOBODY will ever be equal to him and his time in KISS as far as I am concerned. With that being said, Tommy has been in the spaceman outfit now for about 18 years, 18!!! That is longer than any other KISS lead guitarist so isn't time to get over it? One thing about Tommy is that he never strays from the ORIGINAL KISS lineup! Notice he did not hesitate to say Ace's name and say that his solo had to be Ace like? It was a brand new album, I'm sure he could have strayed from the Frehley style but no, he says he wanted it like that! Now yes we could say Paul and Gene were the ones who more insisted on that, we don't really know for sure. But one thing is for sure, watch all the video's you want, Tommy Thayer never trashes Ace and never claims to be better than Ace. Ace Frehley left KISS on his own terms and because he WANTED OUT. Tommy has portrayed the spaceman character with great honor and dignity and has served the KISS Army well - so give the guy a friggin break and give him some credit.
I don't think Ace sold out his fans for drugs and booze Paul Rodriguez, Ace Frehley sold himself out and I guarantee you that if you could talk to Ace and get him to really open up, he now realizes just how much better he could have been and just how much he hurt himself. Yes, He let us fans down but ultimately Paul Frehley is a man who has to now live in the body and mind he damaged. Think about that Paul, can you imagine the absolute hurt he must feel when he thinks of things like playing at Madison Square Garden, as a native New Yorker that must have been such a thrill...and yet all these years later, he can't remember it because he had to snort, smoke or drink a bunch of crap. At first I was on the band wagon of hating Tommy and Eric for wearing the outfits and make up, but after I found out that Ace and Peter willingly sold their rights to that stuff, my anger more turned towards them. We KISS fans obviously are more sentimental about it than any of the original 4 were/are.

I am a huge Tommy fan all the way from Black and Blue. If you listen to those records, he was heavily influenced by Ace way before his involvement with Kiss.
Why do people make a big deal about Tommy thayer pretending to be ace? He's not pretending to be ace. I don't like it when he plays aces songs, otherwise he's doing great. This song is great.

I love music and mixed martial arts. They’re two areas where I don’t allow myself to be prejudiced. I’m loyal to the original KISS lineup, but I don’t feel the need to bash Tommy and Eric-they’re good musicians and I’m sure they’re great guys. If a song is good, I say it’s good. I haven’t heard the song in it’s entirety, but from what I hear here, I am far from impressed.
I love Bruce ... Won't voice my opinion about Vinnie Vincent. And of course Mark St John was short-lived. But Tommy Thayer plays those Ace Frehley solos closer than any other lead guitar player they've ever had. Don't get me wrong I love Bruce kulick's Style on Revenge album. But when it comes to playing classic KISS Tommy Thayer does it better than any of the replacements. My son is 7 years old and loves kiss. Tommy is the spaceman to him. just like I'm 31 and Eric singer has been the Kiss drummer most of my life. when I think of drummer for kiss I think of Eric singer. my seven-year-old son thinks of Tommy Thayer when he hears (kiss guitar player)

Tommy is a awesome dude , but if I was a guitar player I would hate that my legacy ( And Tommy is now Kisses longest serving guitar player ) is pretending to be someone else! He hasn't left a legacy of amazing songs or guitar leads, he is just going to be remembered as the guy who replaced Ace and wore his outfit. And it's a shame cause the man can play , and you couldn't find a nicer guy. I believe he has said when Kiss finish he is done with music, if I was him that's when I would start recording as much material as possible! But the guy is 60 , so he probably just wants to retire and look after his wine vineyard.
Sonic Boom would have been so much better had Paul been able to sing better. His voice is so raspy and hoarse that it detracts from listening to the songs. They try and hide it and enhance his voice, but if you had been a fan before his surgeries, you can tell there was something wrong.
