      If Lincoln had not been assassinated, history wouldn't deviate much. He aimed at reuniting the country above Radical efforts to alter the political climate in favor towards blacks and Republicans. Andrew Johnson had also proposed a plan similar to Lincoln's. The KKK still would have influenced the legislation of Jim Crow laws.

    Lincoln was a moderate Republican. The speech about granting educated blacks and black Union soldiers voting rights isn't "pretty radical". To compromise with the southern states, he didn't agree with Congress, which was dominated by Radical Republicans, to give ALL blacks voting rights. Lincoln pocket vetoed the Wade-Davis Bill, which aimed at pushing black civil rights and punishing Confederate states further.

    Lincoln at the end of the civil war was the south's best friend. It might just be a myth but I heard a long time ago that when Lincoln heard the south had surrendered , he was at a Washington party and asked the band to play Dixie. He said he had waited 4 long years to hear one of his favorite songs played again. I think if Lincoln had lived ,we might not have had the KKK , Jim Crow nor a huge part of the U. S. that stayed poor, and backward for over 100 yrs. It is not hard to think how much this could have changed world history.How much more powerful the U. S would have become so much earlier. It may have stopped or shorten the 2 world wars. The U. S. through history has not always been perfect but if it looks to Lincoln and not Trump it still is the best world cop.

    That is not entirely true. Contrary to popular belief, Lincoln’ plan for the post war reconstruction era was more so focused on reconciliation rather than racial progress. A better alternative would have if president James Garfield was never assassinated. He was the last president to try to push for racial integration in the south and the last president to try to revisit reconstruction (despite its lack of popularity in the north). After that moment the newly formed Republican Party would no longer claim to be the party for racial progress.

      The video did not said get rid of all agriculture ,it said to have other industries too. Maybe cars would have been built in 1920 in Tenn. and Mich. Think immigrants coming to the U. S. would not have just gone west or north east ,some would have gone south because they could get a job building a bridge,a dam,a canal .a railroad.Maybe after when they had earned some money they would buy some land and grow food or go to Atlanta because the factories were starting to boom.But no there were no jobs so they went to everywhere else and the south slept defeated for over 100 yrs like some mythical creature.

      Prior to Franklin Roosevelt, there were no term limits on US presidents. SO we don´t know how long Lincoln would have stayed in the office if he had lived... I don't know what his intention was...but at very least I would image he would have done a Washington and walked after the second term....so at very least we would have skipped over an afwul president in Adam Johnson.

  • @nelsonmlazo4449
    @nelsonmlazo4449 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only reason Johnson became Vice President is because he wanted to unite the country that backfired miserably. Johnson should had never ran with Lincoln back in 1864. If Lincoln knew that there’s was a chance he could not serve another 4 years of office and died then he should had chosen someone with more experience. Let’s say he choose Frederick Douglass for his VP, won the election which will make Douglass the first African American Vice President, Lincoln still got assassinated, but Douglass takeover as President which means he will become the 17th President of the USA and the First African American to become President. Douglass will most likely followed Lincoln legacy and continue his policies as seen in this video. Douglass will run for another term in 1868 with Ulysses S. Grant as his running mate, win the election, and would not run in 1872 keeping the two term tradition(1865-1873). Ulysses S. Grant will most likely run for President in 1872 and will win due to his popularity and for fighting in the Civil War.
