I have seen that skull in the museum of evolution, last year! It was still just called Loki back then, awaiting it's official description and name. It's crazy to see a video about a fossil I have seen in person.
It's quite possible that with such a large number of similar ceratopsian species in close proximity there was a fair amount of hybridisation. Possibly this was the cause of the asymmetric neck frill.
But where these species CAPABLE of hybridization? Finding this out will share a light on the variety of species. After all, some birds today are even capable of that
@@reeyees50 not evne birds ,,also many reptiles ,,fish and a lot of isnects will do that if habitats overlap some can do it so much that in certain parts thers almost only hybrids there
He definitely lives up to his name, even within casts of his bones. I've hit my head so many times on those dang horns when reconstructing the skull. He's played other tricks during other parts of the reconstruction...and during the life restoration sculpting project, too
Yes, of course. There's a chance of encountering any organism that has ever been on this planet. That includes hybrids. Although it will be hard to tell when we find them, if ever.
I like to believe (in a fun way, not in a serious way) that this skull is Brokk and Eitrii finally getting their payment for what they made for the gods of Asguard (Loki offered his head to them if they could impress the gods, but when payment was due, Loki said they could have his neck only if they didn't damage his neck).
Seems Unlikely, But is it POSSIBLE some of these Ceratopsians were the same species, but had significant variation from one individual to another? Seems just as unlikely to me (Though no expert) that small areas as described would be able to support multiple species.
It is possible! Some researchers already have posited this, just as the authors have. However, the authors think they found enough evidence to identify it as it's own genus. Keep in mind that modern ecosystems have MANY closely related species living together.
No offense to the people with those names, but every time I heard them it just made me think of that japanese sports game that made up american-sounding names.
Hot take: I really don’t mind pop culture name for prehistoric creature I even like thanos only some dinosaur name are bad to me like gremlin slobodorum and “ beg “ tse
People should be able to name any organism they discover anything, so long as it's not something offensive. If it's not offensive it isn't harming anyone. I should be able to call my creature Startrek rex if I want to LOL
Вот и новый рогатый динозавр. В прошлый раз одного из его родствеников назвали уродом только из-за его мелкого рога на носу. Хорошо что на этот раз новуму цератопсу придумали хорошие имя. Или нет.
Every time “the most extreme !” Man comes out I burst out laughing.
That is a… peculiar title.
Mhm

We need more Dinosaur fossils from Appalachia
That stone got eroded into the Piedmont and Gulf sedimentary plains.
Go get some.
Sadly, few are preserved
I wondered if Brontosaurus had a hidden specimen named "Thor"
Also, “bubble-headed moose face?” You, sir, are a poet.
you can’t just say that
They can say the title cause it’s a horny Dino 🤪
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lokiceratops went extinct without finding its glorious purpose :(

There are also an extremely large amount of asymmetry in nature, so there is no reason to favor hybridization over any other hypothesis.

Great paper, and discovery. Awesome coverage!

Marvel’s Thanos: I thought I was the only one they named a dinosaur after!
Very glad that Albertaceratops has another relative
Is there any chance science encounters a hybrid between two species of the same kind?
There will likely never br a way to tell from bones alone.
That's a interesting question.

Thank you for the succinct descriptions …which leave me hungry for more!
I’m still skeptical of it being a valid genus, could very well be individual variation in Albertaceratops.
ChatGPT Title lookin ahh
Wouldn't doubt it considering before he used plagiarism to write but promised not to again. Perhaps now he uses chatGPT instead lol
@@catpoke9557 i dont think so... he apoligized and didnt upload for weeks... so i think that he does his research
The title feels too trolly to be artificial but it definitely has an AI vibe to it.
I love Ceratopsians and Lokiceratops I now one of my favorite
Cornucopia more like Hornucopia
Corne mean horn

Thank you for your excellent report.
Tell me when someone names one as sigmaceratops
Title weird but you know wut im here for it
15:15 why is this guy shown missing his left foreleg from the elbow down?
What do we want? SINGING! When do we want it? AT THE END!
I too identify as a beast, as described in the title card 😂
Don’t forget Troodontids
I thought Loki alligator is a thing...
Now we had giant version, Lokiceratops
Is it possible that perhaps Lokiceratops is a different variant of Albertaceratops?
Out of curiosity.
I see why they thought dragons once existed, if you saw that skeleton, you'd think it was a flame breathing dragon!
Around the new year, I had a sneaking suspicion that we would get at least one new ceratopsid this year. Now, it's come true.
To be fair, the Franklinian side of things was scraped pretty clean by the glaciers, it's not out fault lol
Dear Mr. President: There are too many ceratopsians. Please remove 3. Thank you.
Yo the last pic is missin a leg!

You might wanna consider.. revising the title a little😅
Interesting thumbnail.....

2019 was bad, but spring of 2020 was wayyy worse when the covid lockdowns hit!
