Very enjoyable video. A beautiful route. I have walked a few sections of this at various times, including through the beautiful Abernathy Forest. I also use your technique for burn crossings, just walk straight through. I have shoes that drain and dry fairly quickly. I find sealskinzs socks good for the colder months, even if they are wet they keep your feet warm due to the merino wool lining.
We stayed at Nethybridge at the weekend and did some walking around Aviemore. Wonderful scenery and the smell of the pine forest is amazing. Loved the video.
Great routes. I've done a few long-distance traverses of the Cairngorms (Lairig Ghru a few times, Minigaig, Glen Tilt) but I'm planning on doing the Lairig an Laogh from your third day, this summer. Perhaps north by that to Glenmore then south again at high level over Cairngorm, Ben Macdui and Carn a Mhaim.

Top stuff Stripey, nicely done. 👌🏼 that's the beauty of the Cairngorms. You can really mix it up. Stay low, stay high, do both. So many options and a return is now high up on my list. 👣
There were parts of that that were really a slog, but this is quite a bit different than the hikes you normally take us on. I loved the Abernethy forest especially. I think I need a stripey hat. It makes a person very determined to do what they set out to do, no?
Thanks a lot, the Abernethy forest was also one of my favourite parts! Not sure if it is the stripey hat, probably just the weather conditions and to greedy to pay for a taxi to get back to the car. The two ladies who went back from Linn of Dee to Aviemore had a taxi quote of 162 pounds...
You were making me jealous, except for the fording of the rivers, that bit I can do without. Glad you're looking after your feet, it becomes a bigger priority as you age and the circulation gets more sluggish. If I had a bucket load of money I'd take a weekly trip to a chiropodist, I guess I'll just have to keep putting them in a bowl of warm water, with an appropriate dram to hand. Wonderful scenery and it looks like it was still fairly quiet. The Woodland Trust do a fantastic job.

@haraldbrettfeld9049 yes I do. I wear every so often Sealskinz socks (e.g. ‘Glen Feshie’, ‘Last taste of winter’, ‘Winter summit and beach wild camp’). Do I like Sealskin socks? Not really, I have the feeling that I get sweaty feet in them (get soft skin, like from being to long in a bath) which eventually brings blisters…I wear them only when I know that it gets cold and or repetitive river crossings + not more than 15 km to the camp. I just think that wool socks are to 90% of the time the better choice for my feet. Not as warm but I never had any blisters in wool socks and as long as I walk I don’t get cold feet + they dry over night in your sleeping bag. Hope it answers some of your questions! ATB Stripey
Thank you again. Yes, that even answers all my questions 😀 My idea was wool liner + light sealskinz for hikes in swedish lapland. But now I will continue to wear wool socks 👍Have a nice weekend. Best regards Harald

@@StripeyHatGuy I really like your videos please keep them up. They’re giving me ideas 😂 also always good to see a fellow foreigner similarly appreciating what the Scottish outdoors have to offer 🤌🏻
Is that a Solomid or Duomid?
Duomid with doulas inner (full one, not the half one)
Thanks@@StripeyHatGuy
A solid 100k Stripey well in 👏🏻

Beautiful video and landscape 👍🔥👍 What kind of socks do you wear for the river crossings?
Thank you very much! I wear just wool socks, nothing fancy.
Many thanks for your feedback 👍Do you have any experience with waterproof socks from Sealskinz, for example?

Thank you again. Yes, that even answers all my questions 😀 My idea was wool liner + light sealskinz for hikes in swedish lapland. But now I will continue to wear wool socks 👍Have a nice weekend. Best regards Harald
@haraldbrettfeld9049 yeah I would stick with the wool as well Harald! Would love to do some hiking Lapland…who knows it maybe one day I will 😎
