I think the reason they don’t *normally* (and this is the only explanation I’ve ever heard that makes sense). When you have the puck and look down with your eyes, instead of tilting your head, with a full cage or a visor with a cage the cage obstructs your view of the puck. This is the only good explanation I’ve heard.
I feel so bad for Marner, getting smoked in the face by the puck then in the shootout stumbles and loses it when he pretty much wouldve scored had that not happened

I played defense for 15 years and I took many shots to the feet that hurt like all hell and thats with skates on that have a tiny bit of padding. The face is even more sensitive and there's no padding so it has to hurt bad
