I did a Rosella in a hydroponic bucket on our porch this year. It was a bit straggly, I don’t think it was getting enough light. It has a good flavor. I liked it and will probably try to grow it again and try it in dirt with better lighting, but maybe not this coming year. We have limited space, so I plan to try more micro dwarf varieties in the GreenStalks.
I haven’t tasted a single tomato that I am going to try to grow in my GreenStalk! Honestly, I picked them because of the flavor profiles and because they look pretty! Fingers crossed that they are all delicious!😅 Do you grow basil or marigolds in the same pocket with your tomatoes? SIXTY!!!! Ohhhhh I am sat for this video. I love watching these and you truly are making sure I just get to have an hour of fun here 🫶🏻 Growing tomatoes is one of my favorite things to do too! I'm having the hardest time parsing through and only picking the ones I can fit.....you've given me AMAZING ideas with dwarf tomatoes!!! In my head I was seeing only teeny tiny tomatoes - didn't know I could have beefsteak!!! We have some of the same ones on our list! Looking forward to seeing how yours do!
We've had a tomato sandwich competition here before! It was a lot of fun getting to taste all the different sandwiches, but I didn't want tomatoes after that for a while lol. I'm pretty bad with tomatoes but I might try that black cherry since it sounds resilient.
I think we’re opposite in taste 😂, I don’t like the traditional acid taste of the red tomatoes. I grow primarily yellow, orange and a few of the black variety tomatoes. I love ground cherry tomatoes as well LOL. I love them! Can’t wait for the harvest. Happy growing! 😊
Kim you have alot of tomatoes that I am interested in growing but we have such a hot summer here & I only grow about 10-12 at most. If I find varible heat & dought data on my want to add then it's on. Tfs on tomatoes, loved it.
Thank you im looking at what I have to plant with I'm in Long Beach CA. This will help me to place them and your teaching I have the dollar tree stackables and in container I have back hips trouble I'm trying to learn to work with it
I feel like i have come full circle on your channel. My first video of yours was you starting 60 types of tomatoes. I am growing a few varieties. We overlap on a few. I made some delicious jam with my ground cherries. I grew the Aunt Molly's. I bought seeds for the Hanover. Im gonna grow both. I may order some dwarf varieties for my greenstalk. Somehow 😅😅😅 i went from 2 to 6 vertical planters overnight😂😂😂. Im gonna need to fill them.
I usually dont do much with cherry tomatoes, when I do I just pick one. My automatic every year tomatoes are: Pineapple, Dr. Wyches yellow, Amana Orange, Better Boy, Big Daddy Hybrid, Mortgage lifter, Hungarian Heart, and Cherokee Purple. I usually add around 4 more random varieties.
My husband’s favorite is the Black Cherry. We grow the SunGold and Juliet (grape). We can only handle 3 cherry and even then they produce too much for us. We grow 3 Galahad (big red slicer) and a new early tomato. 3 Plum Regal and 3 Grandero for sauce. The Galahad and sauce tomatoes are the only one we grow multiple of the plants. Then chief choice orange and some like Lemon boy. That’s it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! I watched it a million times and added waaaay to many to my order. So you start them indoors now or do you direct sow them? 💚🍃
If the Cherokee purple is a 10 for tomato sandwich. What score would you give to Burpee’s Super Beefsteak? Great video, I am now a subscriber. Thank you!
Have you done Mortgage Lifter? I have a friend here in Zone 5 who does it every summer and his tomatoes are MASSIVE. I'm going to try it this year because I also like big red slicers.
YES! Tomato sandwiches!!!
Kim, excellent tomato choices. I love your content, would love to see a taste test of your tomatoes for future content!
That's a great idea!
I would watch that too!
Mom made a cameo! Hi Mom!!!

It's hard to narrow it down to just a few choices, isn't it?

Excellent information Kim! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait until part three. Ps can you grow the micro tomato plants in a hydroponic system?
Yes. I'm going some now. I will have a video update very soon

I would get it an 8. 😊

I tried it years ago. I wasn't into heirlooms at the time and didn't apricate the unique shape. I need to bring it back into the fold. Lol
I've tried 3 years in a row. Terrible results in different soil types. Done with mortgage lifter
I tried it the year before last and I loved the size of the tomato and plant, but it wasn't that productive and it developed blight early.
Looks aren't important. Say how they taste.
