Thankyou so much!! Helped me understand Etabs better!! Excellent explanation. Getting to know more about the different options in Etabs 2015. Thankyou once again Sir.
VERY GOOD EXPLANATION Please explain 1) Why 0.7 & 0.01 taken in a moment of inertia and torsional constant 2) only concrete property apply but what about steel bars (i.e. FE500 or FE500D)
Very nice and understanding. If there is a basement floor, retaining wall to retain the earth and under ground water tank, how to incorporate them in modeling?
Very gud tutorial. But I have a doubt regarding the intersection of beams. There will be primary and secondary beams right. ? If take the beams continuously, wouldn’t the beams will b designed neglecting the intersection. ? I personally think that main beams be continuous and the secondary beams should be splitted at the intersection.
this video is really helpful but i have one doubt why we have made 8 noded slab for irregular shape and how it is helpful in load distribution mechanism?
Sir I've tried to try to usse etabs to solve my previous seatwork in structural analysis using portal frame method, and etabs have generated smaller shear, axial and moment values compared to my manual solutions. Sir, I hope on your next video you'll be solving some easy 2d frames and show to us the generated values using etabs and using manual solution.
Dear Sir.....Thanks for this Etabs videos,Nice explanation with good english. Easy to understand, It will be very helpful if u could upload tutorials on Short and long column RCC (slender ) effective length calculation using etabs so also design Do we require to change MI modifier to 0 .7 in case of frame element
sir, i just started learning the software. I couldn't get that Master Storey explanation. Can you please tell me something more about why we assigned pstorey as master storey and how does it affects the modelling?
It's a very good tutorial to understand the basics of Etabs. But I would like to know two things: 1. Where did you find the values of torsion constant and moment of inertia values? I am from Bangladesh and in our building code (BNBC) I don't find any provisions for those. If I take those values as 1, would it be impractical? 2. Should the beams be continuous even if the beams cross other beams at one or more points? i.e. beam along 3A-3J should be considered as a continuous beam whereas beam along 4I-2I would be continuos too. is it? Note: I didn't go through other comments. So I dont know if you have covererd these questions. Even if you do, please repeat that.
Excellent video, Could you pls help with more explanation on how you put your drew the beam @ 12:52, i tried but all grids are selected and i wanted only to select and place beams on the grids that you selected only...Thank you
Hello sir.. you have not considered the column offset/eccentricity from the grid center line (between 0 & 90 degree orientation columns) as per the centre line layout.. doesn't this affect the design?
Which is the exact level we should keep the support??? The foundation level, the ground level or the plinth level?? If it is ground level what about the structure below the ground level ??
Dear Sir, Why have you selected membrane for the slab type instead of shell?...Membrane will transfer 100% of the load to the relevant beams. While shell slab will bear some loads and transfer the rest to the beams which is realistic. Thank you.
very good tutor for me to learn this soft..very welled explained...can u upload tutorial for beam that are not placed symmetrically with column....but at an offset..i means center of beam and column are not coinciding....... as in real life situation.
I THINK FOR THAT WE HAVE TO PROVIDE A CANTILEVER BEAM FROM BEAM CENTRE TO COLUMN CENTRE WHICH MAY LIE IN THE COLUMN. PRACTICALLY WE HAVE TO OMIT IT. BUT THEOROTICALLY WE HAVE TO TRANSFER LOAD THRO' AXIS WHICH ARE UNIDIRECTIONAL i.e. SINGLE LINE AND NOT THREE DIMENSIONAL.
Hey, Great Video and commentary. Really appreciate your effort. Thanks a ton. one small question. I agree that you are applying the slab as a membrane. But why did you apply the lift walls as membrane ?...They are basically shear walls too and will participate in resisting seismic lateral forces right? So shouldnt it be applied as Shells?. or is it not going to take part in seismic load transfer?, Please clarify and enlighten me.
First question , explain changes in torsion etc (is it in indian code ? , How it is if I work with Eurocode) Second , whats a "pstory" and its use ? Thirdly , how can we design an underground story (is it similar like all stories or has changes) other than that its really good..
i am not able to assign slab when i start with the draw rectangular floor/wall when i click the joint and drag the cursor i doesnt show the varying dimension just above the cursor like in your video and i am not able to assign the slab plz help me
U had champer the edges of exterior slab at story 1 but u wouldn't show for beams and the column to support the slab.....plz help me ASAP.....i hd stuck on this
Please please please help me sir, how to define cracked section in etabs? it would be good if you show me the way, i have tried by changing moment of inertia in property modifiers but deflections, moment etc results remains same as when the value of modifiers are 1
Dear sir I would like to know a to z building design and analysis in etabs. How load can be calculated and How they are applied with manual calculation and approved in municipality format report. Please upload a video regarding my comments as soon as possible. And steel area calculation of column and beam
can i get any video related to shear reinforcing and longitudinal reinforcing which is calculated in MS-EXCEL.... showing different checks...the chart to show calculations of stirrups gap calculation.....and various others chart
Thaks for your efforts to create this work, I have inqure about the beams thats you put in the ground floor, I think it should be removed to get a correct analysis, I use STAAD. pro to design steel and concerte structure for buildings with their Foundations.
When i select none section for slab and assign load on it, slab does not transfers load to beams and columns. How can i apply area load avoiding the weight of slab.
Thankyou so much!! Helped me understand Etabs better!! Excellent explanation. Getting to know more about the different options in Etabs 2015. Thankyou once again Sir.

No Steel is defined.? And is there any reason y u changed ur modification factor. Usually it's taken 100 % that means 1. But in ur Caseu changed it.
U had champer the edges of exterior slab at story 1 but u wouldn't show for beams and the column to support the slab.....plz help me ASAP.....i hd stuck on this
Dear sir ,You define and assign only beam , columns and slabs then what about Footing.
Thank you sir.
