- let me break down the important points for the folks that do not realize that I made this as kind of a joke. does the winky face set the tone?
#1 Don’t get a hunting bow as your first bow.
#2 get a light bow to work on form. Lighter than I have for sale!
#3 three-piece takedowns under 40 lbs are one of the best deals. Some have white limbs.
4 years later and I still have these bows. Not a very good bow salesman am I.
If I really wanted to sell them I would put them on Ebay.

I am interested, if not possible in 'the' bow, but what your thoughts are/were on that Greatree Highlander?
I have looked at quite a few bows, including the Bear Sonoma and the Greatree Goshawk, and slowly amassing the necessary accoutrements on a retirement check income.
There have been enough moons passed, since my last bow, that i know that a 60# longbow would not do, so I set a 40# limit for myself. I draw 26 1/2, so i have been busy crunching the numbers to see what I would be drawing in reality, and working within that frame of mind.
Hope that you had your fill of turkey (it's all about the baste, about the baste, mo' butter!).

+SFsc616171 I like the Highlander and the Goshawk. I have a Goshawk to use in the cellar for form practice. It is shorter and I can shoot it in the cellar without hitting the rafters. How the handle fits our hand is very important to me. Have you had the Highlander and Goshawk in your hand? I may have a shorter riser bow similar to the Goshawk with #35 limbs for sale. Should I go look?

In response to having said bows, or any 'trad' bows in hand, "the one shop in town for the 50 mile radius", when employee queried about 'trad bows', "Uh, ya mean like recurves and things? We don't do that." Such is the continuing life in small-town America, post relocation after Hurricane Katrina.
As to 'looking for that shorter riser bow'. when you have the moment to do so during this shopping season, would you please look for it?

It looks to me like one should be able to purchase different weighted limbs thereby altering poundage according to need with the takedown design. Would my assumption be correct? That would make for a very versatile bow, yes? Light limbs for target shooting, heavy hunting? Do the manufacturers do that?
That is correct.
steelgila You'll have to find an ILF bow, you can change your limbs/riser to any other ILF riser/limb
This might be a long-shot since its 1 1/2 years later. I am just getting into archery and have been practicing with my friends samick sage for about a week now. Do you possibly have the highlander for sale still? Would be interested in buying as soon as possible.

to hunt deer what weight should I use ? I hunt compound at 55lb. I never hunted with a recurve.
Hello +m d Whatever you can consistently hit the kill zone with and meets your states minimum draw weight requirement. In some states its as low as 35#. I would add that there should be a Minimum of 400 grains total arrow wight. But this is just my opinion.
