Someone in the comments stated that Kubota hoses and hydraulic lines needed to be replaced every two years and I can easily disprove that. My Kubota L3130 is 14 years old and stored partially out of the weather under a run in shed. Maybe I am just lucky, or maybe Kubota makes a very high quality product, but it has never needed a single repair of any kind in those 14 years, nor has it ever had a hose replaced or hydraulic line replaced, so the commenter stating that they need to be replaced every two years is just wrong. The first three years I owned it, I did not yet have the shed built and it sat outside all the time. It has been used mostly for bush hogging, tilling, loader work to make barn and pool pads, and maintaining a 1600 foot drive. When I bought it new, I test drove deere, new holland and kioti, and I wonder if the no repairs experience would have been the same if I purchased any of the others? In the end, only a shop that runs or repairs them side-by-side is likely to know if one is more reliable than the other. They were all fine in my test drive, but ultimately, the Kubota reputation for reliability was why I chose it and it has held true for my tractor.
@Flatus Antiquitous Yup and kubota tractors are assembled in the USA, and you wont be repairing it every other week. In two years I spent ten grand in repairs on a JD. Kubota I replaced it with has been bullet proof after removing stumps, skidding logs, and being ran eight hours a day for three years without a hickup.
I've owned 2 kubotas in the past and liked them both. however this time I wanted a hydrostat and just absolutely hated kubota's stupid pedal. it's the reason I don't own a Kubota now.
I'm ok with my 1025R for my needs. The main reasons I bought it back in 2015 were financing, and creature comforts including the auto connect deck and the ease for me of the loader and backhoe connections. But competition and time changes everything. Kubota makes very nice machines. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
I'd like to preface this comment by saying I didn't watch any comparison videos before going to the different dealers and looking at the tractors myself. I recently bought my first tractor. Going in I was very bias and wanted a John Deere. After first looking at the 3025e I almost pulled the trigger on the purchase but wanted to do my due diligence and look at other brands for comparison. Went to look at the New Holland workmaster 25 and was disappointed with how cheap it looked. Yes it was steel vs JD plastic but it did not look appealing to me. Just looked and felt like an simple old tractor way behind on comfort and engineering. Then again I was bias towards JD so maybe I came in not liking it. On my way back to buy the JD I stopped at Kubota. From my first look at the l2501 I noticed so many differences in build and quality. Everything about the Kubota was better than the JD. I will say that the treadle pedal was not as bad as some people say. It is my first tractor so I would get used to either pedal design. I'm very very particular and almost detail oriented to a fault. I noticed bigger axle on Kubota, heavier 3-point hitch, loader bucket quick coupler, 3 range trans, smooth loader operation when lifting and leveling at the same time and way to many better things than I can list. Overall I was very baffled that I didn’t consider Kubota in the beginning of my purchase experience. My application was for my own landscaping projects at my house. One of the requirements for me was a backhoe. After looking at all three tractors the JD and new Holland both used the same Woods backhoe. Kubota makes their own stuff. I really liked that. Bottom line I fell in love with Kubota even though at the beginning of my purchase experience I didn't even consider buying a Kubota. Then I went home and spent a week looking at countless hours of comparison videos and research. I went with the Kubota B26 TLB because it checked off everything I was looking for in a tractor. Now I will say money was not an issue or a deciding factor for me. Quality of build and over engineering was my deciding factor. I actually called the JD salesman and new Holland salesman and told them I’m going with the Kubota B26 and asked them to talk me out of it and they said they donʼt have a tractor as well engineered and overbuilt as the Kubota B26 TLB. That sealed the deal for me. That's my story and opinion.

I lean a little more towards Kubota. They make really good skid steers. Ask any rental place that has Kubotas and John Deere. I just purchased a L3301 Kubota. I live in Kansas City area and there are alot of JD and Kubota dealers. I noticed a price difference between Kubota dealers. I bought mine in more rural area for thousands less. I needed a tractor with 3 point lift around 2000 lbs. Many of the JDs were around 1500 lbs. I am not here saying JDs are junk. Just have to buy what works best for your application. I was considering a LS tractor since they make tractors for New Holland and IH. But was concerned about resale value. I had to add the quick attach and rear hydrologic remotes to the Kubota. LS came standard with these options. Maybe someday these other tractors like LS will make a name for themselves.
Kind of disagree, due to the videos I watched on the JD 1025R, it has a quick release bucket on the arms, as well as the quick release on the arms, I would say. JD seems to have the attachments better, easier to take on/off. New to buying tractors, but the John Deere looks like better "ease of use" features to me.
Kevin Alton you haven’t looked close enough then. Even the BX series has the widely available 2 lever skid steer quick attach for attachments and the LA344s loader comes off in seconds without getting off the seat. Same goes for the B-1 series.
Had both over the years and can't go wrong with either but my only gripe with the Bota is that damn treadle pedal style could never get completely used to it and hitting the brake above it.
I grew up on JD tractors. An R, 820, 830, 4620, 4850. I bought a 2320 to mow with.I did not like the hydro pedals. If you went up an incline the hydro pedal pushed back harder. Very tiresome! I traded it for a Kubota B3350 HSTC. The Kubota does not do that. The pedal is a little strange compared to the L5740 but I have gotten used to it. My Kubota Grand L5740 HSTC has a two speed hydro in addition to the three range gearbox. I use it EVERY time I get into the tractor. I had a 5030 before that I traded for the 5740 that did not have that. I love that feature. John Deere did not even offer that as an option at the time that I purchased it and may not offer it today. My neighbor who was the JD sales manager tried his best to trade me out of the 5740. Nothing doing! He came out to evaluate my tractor for the trade. I lifted the loader to the max position and lowered the bucket to the dump position then shut the engine off. I then simultaneously lowered the loader and raised the bucket with the recirculating oil from the loader cylinders. I asked him if his JD did that. He just looked at that and asked "how did you do that". I told him that Kubota has a recirculating control valve. The B3350 does the same.
I own case tractors and new Holland’s. None of these two. I’ve driven and operated both equally as much and I can safely say Kubota’s are better build and more of a bang for your buck tractor. John Deere’s feel cheap and badly manufactured. I’d pick the Kubota over the John deer from a unbiased stand point
So just my two cents, if you want a sturdy all around great tractor, my argument would be for Kubota all the way, I was looking at the BX 2680, versus the JF 1025R, nd I found d them both to be flimsy looking in my opinion. I've always been a John Deere guy and was pretty much ready to pull the trigger, on the 1025R, in spite of the flimsy look of it, when I noticed that the Deere dealer had a B2601 that he had taken on a trade. I was instantly impressed with the looks of it, and everything was and looked like a way heavier duty built tractor, so i went to my Kubota dealer, looked at a brand new 2017 2601, and i was literally sold on it right away, i do a fair bit of landscaping work, custom mowing, including my 3 acres once a week, and lots of loader work. The 54' belly mower, is unbeatable, (coming from a JD zero turn) the loader is heavy duty and holds up amazingly, I bought the front mount hitch, with snow blade and run a 60" rototiller with it. This thing is a beast and I'm 100% happy i went with Kubota! As far as the fwd/reverse pedal it's a non issue for me, even with my size 13 feet lol. I spend 30+ hours a week on this tractor and it does what I need it to do and beyond! At the risk of sounding biased, Kubota is my first choice for the future!
Great video, I have a JD 4410 and not a big fan of all the plastic that’s cracking and breaking, very expensive to replace. Love my Kubota MX 5200, pedal thing no big deal. I have slipped off JD pedal and stepped on both at the same time and that shit will stop you in a hurry. I have only one issue and that is you can’t get on Kubota from both sides, loader handle in the way, JD I can get on from either side. New sub from northern VA, have a great day and don’t do anything stupid on your 🚜...
I purchased a kubota m4d-071 in october 2019 and thought they were close to Deere but I was badly mistaken, it would compare to a deere 5075, the steering is weak, the air is weak the loader leaks down while you are using the tractor, the loader valve has been replaced once but it's still leaking down if the hoses are disconnected from the tractor it holds so it has to be in the valve, it has 3 remotes on the back and all 3 leak down all with 150 hours
During COVID I've tried to buy local as much as possible.....In Canada I class all of NAFTA as local. Which is most NAFTA made machine.......Keep the money close is my opinion. But both make good units.
Here is my counter argument against Kubota. Kubota uses a treadle pedal, and my size 14 boot can barely fit. I actually had to take my foot out of my boot to get my boot unstuck from the Kubota.
If I had stayed with the L4701, I would agree, but after a demo, changed my mind and stepped up to an MX5800. At 6’-4”, 300 lbs and also a size 14 shoe, the extra tractor width solved the heel “wedge” problem. I Love my Kubota, including the treadle.
It's really a matter of priorities, personal likes/dislikes, and how close your dealer is. I have used most brands of tractors and for the most part they will all do their job. Dealer support is important to me. Here in the Midwest you can throw a rock in any direction and hit a JD dealership. But only one Kubota dealer. That matters to me. I could give 5 reasons a Deere is better or most other brands. What turned me off with Kubota was flimsy body parts and that awful treadle pedal.

I watched both your “JD is better…Kubota is better” videos…& agree that both are great tractors! I have been comparing JD and Kubota for our next tractor & your review of the plusses & minuses of each is great! So…after all my research and trying out different tractors, we just purchased a Kubota B2601 & are super excited about delivery next week. We also have a great Kubota dealership here in Idaho with great owners & service which definitely played into that decision a lot too. Also tried the JD and seems like a great platform so a tough decision. Really like the Kubota quick disconnect FEL system since we will be switching it out a lot & the front snowblower on the Kubota seemed to suite our needs much better than the JD options too. I also prefer that the Kubota has steel fenders & cowling but I know lots of JD guys really like the poly cowlings for corrosion resistance. I would rather have steel, so that is just personal preference. Keep up the great work on the videos & thanks again for sharing!
Sort of like a vehicle for the needs of each individual person. Not one tractor may have everything or do everything a person wants. Like a car that sometime ya need a truck or something with more power when most of the time you need good fuel mileage! Almost impossible to have the best of both worlds . Same for my needs! I bought a brand new L2501 and loved it but there were times when the manual trans was cumbersome and I could have used more Hp. I loved the simplicity of the non regen engine but stepped up to the newer L3902! So far it been leaps above from what I had that fits my needs much better! Wouldn’t buy anything different unless I got a smoking deal on another brand! Part of me thinks that Your paying for the JD name! I get it from customer loyalty that they’ll pay whatever just because they like JD. Good video and key points were noted!
I'm in the market for a compact tractor with loader and backhoe and honestly what I'm seeing is that if I take the best qualities of the JD and Kubota and put them together it points towards the Rural King RK 24. I'm just afraid of the possibility of support problems down the line. I'm trying to decide between the 2025r, the 2601 and the RK24.
Im in the same boat man, I want the RK37 cab, but like you said, the dealer support worrys me. I read alot about RK, most people never have problems but those that did, it was difficult for them to get ahold of someone and parts took long to get to them. Seems the RK dealers only have 1 mechanic working on em at each place. Plus what if they stop selling tractors down the road, where would that leave us? John Deer dealer is within 20 miles from me, but the RK dealer is 180 miles away. The John Deer 3039R cab tractor is $11,000 more than the RK 37 cab with the same options. Im leaning toward Deer just for the piece of mind in the long run.
@@fit4ya1975 JD 1025r with loader and backhoe. It was on a really good sale and only 1,000 more than the RK24 and 3 grand less than the Kubota BX23S. No brainier and the sub compact size was what I needed.

the reason i like the three speed better is you have a better chance of getting the right speed for your transmission; working a hydrostat (any hydrostat) at a low speed/high torque in too high of a gear is a sure way to damage it. the reason is the fluid is being worked harder and heats up alot more, selecting that next lower gear is overall better on your tractor. for those that are wondering, look up how a hydrostatic tractor transmission works and you will see why. there are a few video's on here.
We are in the nursery/tree farm business and my daughter has a small farm to market vegetable/berry farm. Our tractors get used daily and used hard April-October. I have had John Deere, Kubota and New Holland in the compact tractor size. All we own right now are Kubotas, for the reasons of they have better torque, in our area the resale is as good or better, and the hold up better in the real world. No one makes a better diesel motor than Kubota, Bobcat, Ditchwitch, Donkey Forlifts, etc. etc. would agree with me because they all put Kubota motors in their equipment. John Deere makes a great tractor, but you have to get 100 HP plus to get one that John Deere even builds or to even get one that is built in the states. In my opinion, their compacts and sub-compacts are packaged for appeal to the homeowner and hobby farmer. They are basically a Yanmar with green paint, John Deere hood and decals and they rely on the reputation of the their larger equipment to sell it. You can buy a John Deere riding mower in Lowe's for crying out loud.
Agree with your points in both videos. We’ve got a 3720 cab tractor with factory cab and love it so I’m more of a Deere guy but they both definitely have advantages. Very well put together videos, I love watching them!
Had a 3038e. Solid workhorse. Very functional. Wasn’t my favorite. I found myself always working on it. I also had the 160 loader. I felt it was slow and under powered. Had it it 4 years and got 3/4 retail price. In the end I ran hell out of it and got most of my money back. I stepped up to a bigger tractor because I needed it. I would say most of my issues were because I needed something bigger. But on trade in money my pain wasn’t so bad after all
@@keelangerken5154You must be kidding. Yanmar diesel motors are rated FAR superior over anything Kubota, New Holland, Massey, Mahindra, Kioti ever built according to German AgWerks long term test. JD's with the Yanmar come with a 10 YEAR warranty, and has tier 4 exhaust emissions (burns cleanest), has the highest fuel economy, and has the highest horsepower with the smallest cubic inch displacement. Duh!

I bought a Kubota B2620 in 2010 and traded it in last year for $1500 less then I paid for it while getting the same discount on the tractor I bought if I had no trade in. Not claiming which brand has better resale but not sure how anything can beat that.
So.... This is all JD and Kubota - and yes those are my2 choices too-- but do any other brands compare closely especially cases 45-65 hp when-where comparable
Sure, lots to compare. I see absolutely no difference in steering. If there is, you'd really have to be nitpicking. I drove around many of each today alone and didn't notice anything. Certain Kubota's are definitely quieter, however certain JD's are also quiet. No clearcut winner there. I compare five other aspects in my video John Deere Beats Kubota. Check it out :)
I wish Mr. Courtney Scott would help me decide between the L2501HST or 3025E. Both dealers are close, both are similar price; have test driven both but cannot pick one. Suggestions?
Courtney, ended up pulling the trigger today on a 2020 3025e with several attachments after about a month of research and getting quotes from 3 different JD dealers and 3 different Kubota dealers that are near my house. At the end of the day, this one JD dealer had amazing customer service and total price was 2k less than the next lowest quote for exact same implements/specs. Thank you for your videos, they definitely helped a lot.
I was thinking of a jd 3038e or kubota l3901.....I've heard the jd has an aluminum rear casing vs the steel on ku.....what is your opinion (might want to add a backhoe some day)
Yes, that is true about the rear end. If you want to add a backhoe, go with the Kubota although I did hear JD re-engineered the rear end in 2018 to accommodate a backhoe. The higher end series of JD is cast.
Thanks for the video. Good comparison. There a lot of real fine foreign made products out there. Some may be better in some ways than domestic made products. I always have and always will purchase products manufactured by my fellow American workers even if they may be a little inferior. That is more important to me. American made- first and only choice. The transmission Mid range is needed in the Kubota due to their lack of Hyd power. They use a single pump system supplying the transmission and loader with only one pump where as the Deere runs a 2 pump system supplying the transmission and loader/3 point individually 100% power 100% of the time to both. Kubota needs the M range due to that single pump system. The M range is needed in the larger Deere's and more premium ones due to the ability to add rear SCVs to run hyd implements hence needed to make sure for certain applications full hyd power is supplied to all parts. Deere's 2 pump system allows for actually a better power ratio with no M range needed. Deere performs more efficiently in L and H then Kubota does in L M & H. Just to clarify since you said you didn't know.
You are correct in stating there are 2 hyd. pumps on JD (even the E series) to allow for full pressure to HST when using bucket/3 point/pto attachments. Kubotas system depletes the HST when loader/3 point/pto operates--not conducive to long life HST.
I've seen many that are mangled up, but I'd agree they are more robust than the standard JD bucket. However, JD's HD bucket is better than Kubota's IMO.
In 2004 i purchased three Kubota tractors. I paid cash for all three so price was not a determining factor for my choice of Kubota over Deere. Deere was the only other option since they’re the only other brand that is available near me. My best friend bought Deere’s competitive model to my smallest Kubota at the same time I made my purchase. His is essentially a rebranded Yanmar. The entire transmission/axle housing on his is made of aluminum whereas the comparable Kubota is all cast iron. His front 4WD is not as beefy as mine. We both purchased mid mount mowers on them. He has replaced the mower belt on average every other year whereas I have yet to replace the original mower belt on mine and I mow almost twice the area that he does. That’s correct. My smallest Kubota has just under 1400hrs and has yet to need the original deck belt replaced. Now, having said that Kubotas are not perfect. I had two issues with my smallest unit that were “out of the ordinary “. The first was an issue with the 3 point hitch jerking at times when operated. Kubota ad a TSB on the issue that required installation of a small kit that essentially re-routed a return hydraulic hose . Since I was a mechanic the dealer gave me the kit for free and I installed it in about one hour. Problem solved. The next issue was one of the steel oil cooler lines for the hydro system cracked and began to leak. By then the tractor was out of warranty so I messaged Kubota customer service and they sold me the line for 1/2 price. It ended up costing about $65 and I installed the line myself. Problem solved. Other than fluid/filter changes and one valve adjustment that is all I have done to keep it running. My 4cyl. with balance shafts is smoother and quieter than the 3cyl Yanmar in his Deere. He’s got roughly 600hrs on his and I’ll approaching 1400hrs on mine. To the Deere’s credit it hasn’t had any non maintenance issues arise with it either. He only mows with his whereas I mow, run a rear mount tiller and pull a trailer loaded with firewood. Yanmar makes a good compact diesel engine but they don’t produce their own hydro transmissions or differentials . They purchase them from outside suppliers. Kubota builds all of their hydros, transmissions and differential units in house and are in control of the quality of manufacturing. After owning the Kubotas for about 20 years now I feel like they were the best tractor for the money at that time. Kubota excels at building compact equipment. If I needed a tractor over 70hp I would look at a different brand. I personally don’t think Kubota is where they need to be on tractors over 70hp. A pre-emissions Deere or New Holland rule the big tractor segment.

I think you are trying to be even handed, and I think you do a very good job of putting yourself in the shoes of someone like myself who is learning and deciding on a purchase. If those are the top 5 reasons, sounds like John Deere is way better, especially if you buy all the available upgrades. I have an X500 and am thinking about upgrading to a 1 series so I can still cut grass on my 1 acre property.
Ive owned both cant go wrong either way , compare the models, edge kubota under 40hp edge JD over 40hp. Had 2 Mahindras worked on them twice to ride once
JD resale. Most important comparison of all. No contest. Kubota is a great tractor but so are a lot of the compacts. My Case is as good as my Deere but the purchase price compared to the eventual sale is horrible. Same with almost every other compact. JD green and their popularity have kept them at a premium. Kind of like a Toyota pick-up they hold their value.
Actually I've observed the opposite in our area. There are many Deere compacts for sale at low prices, which drives the price down (buyers will want a bargain). On Kubotas, Kioti, Mahindra, New Holland and others, there are less for sale and the prices are higher, and they seem to sell faster. Many of those Deeres remain for sale for quite some time. Most buyers do their research and discover that they have less capacities, weight and features than similarly priced competitors, which reduces their value.
after what JD did to it's longtime dealers >> small dealers when then JD got two 100k sales to lowes & home depo then dropped on those contracts with the small dealers and then to top things of and a kick to the nuts of the small dealers JD kept each dealers $7,500 display deposits.. all so JD could sale 200k in small riders. and maybe 25 k a year after that. No I will never own a JD You couldnt offer a free one to me either.
When I went shopping for a new tractor I was really hung up on the 2-speed vs 3-speed transmission. For my personal use, I did not like the 3 range Kubota on my B2620, especially while snow blowing. The low range was too slow and medium usually too fast unless there was only a couple of inches of snow. Low range on my JD2038R is much better. I have not missed the third gear one bit with any other application.
My Kubota has 2 speeds in each range so i never experienced the medium range being useless, almost like the other two now are. Ive always had JD’s, 3 series and 5 series recently, my new L series Kubota features with its hydro transmission are far superior to the JDs and i say that reluctantly as i love my green tractors otherwise.
Your tasks tell me you should get a 3 Series JD or L Series Kubota. However, on that budget, you're going to be into a higher hour, older machine. Bump it up $2-4k, and you could get a very nice tractor in that category. I wouldn't buy a smaller frame size as I've had too many folks do that and end up trading in for a bigger machine a year later. Costs them more money in the long run.
I had a used Kubota Mx5000 i got for around $16k with 1500 hours on it. ran perfect and thats what I used for doing alot of tree work. You could maybe get away with the smaller one but even the big mx I felt was too small at times. when I was moving stumps around and had big logs chained to the bucket sometimes I had to drive it on the front wheels as the back ones where not on the ground. but then again I seem to be in the crowd that abuses equipment. even still though as hard as I beat it, it never let me down.
I'm guessing they don't build every part. Don't know of a large corporation that does that. It isn't financially cost effective. However, a good quality control program with their sub-tier suppliers will assist greatly!
Tires are soft , cheap , okay for smaller tractors. But when you get into 50 + , really work it , they melt like butter. Those yuppie gears will fall apart in a working sitchawation, Basic manual gear shift will stand the test of time
Yes, the shape is different, but I'm not sure what significant it has? Perhaps someone else will be able to chime in? Many different bucket options out there with different intended uses. I have seen plenty of bent edges on each, however the HD JD buckets are reinforced very well. Size should be determined by what the bucket will be used for and the capability of your loader well.
So u said the B series is comparable to the 2 series but if you look the tractors you are competing here the 3 series and the B series and they are the same sized frame and the 3 series offers almost all the same features as the b
John Deere 1025R cab beats the Kubota BX2680 cab. John Deere has a much better cab system. The B2650 beats the John Deere 2036R. All depends on which size you want. I will say, the only thing I do not like is all the plastic parts on the John Deere.
James Wallace A comparison has been done on this on other channels,its been found that Deere chews up Kabota in this category also.The story is that if you max out a Deere and a Kabota in its ability to lift weight in general(front end loader)the Kabota must run its engine at 2,000 R.P.M.in order to pick up the exact same amount of weight that a Deere can at 550 R.P.M.idle.The Deere has a much stronger hydro-pump and this means its ripping power is much stronger as well when using a backhoe.
I prefer kubota dependability over Deere but I'll be sticking with the 1958 Ford 800 w/ front end loader/backhoe...you can drop a tactical nuke on it and all it does is shine up the 4500 pounds of steel

In the end, only a shop that runs or repairs them side-by-side is likely to know if one is more reliable than the other. They were all fine in my test drive, but ultimately, the Kubota reputation for reliability was why I chose it and it has held true for my tractor.

@Flatus Antiquitous Yup and kubota tractors are assembled in the USA, and you wont be repairing it every other week. In two years I spent ten grand in repairs on a JD. Kubota I replaced it with has been bullet proof after removing stumps, skidding logs, and being ran eight hours a day for three years without a hickup.

I'm ok with my 1025R for my needs. The main reasons I bought it back in 2015 were financing, and creature comforts including the auto connect deck and the ease for me of the loader and backhoe connections. I'd like to preface this comment by saying I didn't watch any comparison videos before going to the different dealers and looking at the tractors myself. I recently bought my first tractor. Going in I was very bias and wanted a John Deere. After first looking at the 3025e I almost pulled the trigger on the purchase but wanted to do my due diligence and look at other brands for comparison. Went to look at the New Holland workmaster 25 and was disappointed with how cheap it looked. Yes it was steel vs JD plastic but it did not look appealing to me. Just looked and felt like an simple old tractor way behind on comfort and engineering. Then again I was bias towards JD so maybe I came in not liking it. On my way back to buy the JD I stopped at Kubota. From my first look at the l2501 I noticed so many differences in build and quality. Everything about the Kubota was better than the JD. I will say that the treadle pedal was not as bad as some people say. It is my first tractor so I would get used to either pedal design. I'm very very particular and almost detail oriented to a fault. I noticed bigger axle on Kubota, heavier 3-point hitch, loader bucket quick coupler, 3 range trans, smooth loader operation when lifting and leveling at the same time and way to many better things than I can list. Overall I was very baffled that I didn’t consider Kubota in the beginning of my purchase experience. My application was for my own landscaping projects at my house. One of the requirements for me was a backhoe. After looking at all three tractors the JD and new Holland both used the same Woods backhoe. Kubota makes their own stuff. I really liked that. Bottom line I fell in love with Kubota even though at the beginning of my purchase experience I didn't even consider buying a Kubota. Then I went home and spent a week looking at countless hours of comparison videos and research. I went with the Kubota B26 TLB because it checked off everything I was looking for in a tractor. Now I will say money was not an issue or a deciding factor for me. Quality of build and over engineering was my deciding factor. I actually called the JD salesman and new Holland salesman and told them I’m going with the Kubota B26 and asked them to talk me out of it and they said they donʼt have a tractor as well engineered and overbuilt as the Kubota B26 TLB. That sealed the deal for me. That's my story and opinion.
I think both tractor are good both have good points and bad points all depend on a the person and what they need's.

I lean a little more towards Kubota. They make really good skid steers. Ask any rental place that has Kubotas and John Deere. I just purchased a L3301 Kubota. I live in Kansas City area and there are alot of JD and Kubota dealers. I noticed a price difference between Kubota dealers. I bought mine in more rural area for thousands less. I needed a tractor with 3 point lift around 2000 lbs. Many of the JDs were around 1500 lbs. I am not here saying JDs are junk. Just have to buy what works best for your application. I was considering a LS tractor since they make tractors for New Holland and IH. But was concerned about resale value. I had to add the quick attach and rear hydrologic remotes to the Kubota. LS came standard with these options. Maybe someday these other tractors like LS will make a name for themselves.

Kind of disagree, due to the videos I watched on the JD 1025R, it has a quick release bucket on the arms, as well as the quick release on the arms, I would say. JD seems to have the attachments better, easier to take on/off. New to buying tractors, but the John Deere looks like better "ease of use" features to me.
Kevin Alton you haven’t looked close enough then. Even the BX series has the widely available 2 lever skid steer quick attach for attachments and the LA344s loader comes off in seconds without getting off the seat. Same goes for the B-1 series.
Love my 1025r . It refuses to let me down. 16 acres and its all i need.
Had both over the years and can't go wrong with either but my only gripe with the Bota is that damn treadle pedal style could never get completely used to it and hitting the brake above it.
That is the biggest complaint I hear by far. I also agree with it. Why won't they just get rid of it?

I grew up on JD tractors. An R, 820, 830, 4620, 4850. I bought a 2320 to mow with.I did not like the hydro pedals. If you went up an incline the hydro pedal pushed back harder. Very tiresome! I traded it for a Kubota B3350 HSTC. The Kubota does not do that. The pedal is a little strange compared to the L5740 but I have gotten used to it.
My Kubota Grand L5740 HSTC has a two speed hydro in addition to the three range gearbox. I use it EVERY time I get into the tractor. I had a 5030 before that I traded for the 5740 that did not have that. I love that feature. John Deere did not even offer that as an option at the time that I purchased it and may not offer it today.
My neighbor who was the JD sales manager tried his best to trade me out of the 5740. Nothing doing! He came out to evaluate my tractor for the trade. I lifted the loader to the max position and lowered the bucket to the dump position then shut the engine off. I then simultaneously lowered the loader and raised the bucket with the recirculating oil from the loader cylinders. I asked him if his JD did that. He just looked at that and asked "how did you do that". I told him that Kubota has a recirculating control valve. The B3350 does the same.

I own case tractors and new Holland’s. None of these two. I’ve driven and operated both equally as much and I can safely say Kubota’s are better build and more of a bang for your buck tractor. John Deere’s feel cheap and badly manufactured. I’d pick the Kubota over the John deer from a unbiased stand point

So just my two cents, if you want a sturdy all around great tractor, my argument would be for Kubota all the way, I was looking at the BX 2680, versus the JF 1025R, nd I found d them both to be flimsy looking in my opinion. I've always been a John Deere guy and was pretty much ready to pull the trigger, on the 1025R, in spite of the flimsy look of it, when I noticed that the Deere dealer had a B2601 that he had taken on a trade. I was instantly impressed with the looks of it, and everything was and looked like a way heavier duty built tractor, so i went to my Kubota dealer, looked at a brand new 2017 2601, and i was literally sold on it right away, i do a fair bit of landscaping work, custom mowing, including my 3 acres once a week, and lots of loader work. The 54' belly mower, is unbeatable, (coming from a JD zero turn) the loader is heavy duty and holds up amazingly, I bought the front mount hitch, with snow blade and run a 60" rototiller with it. This thing is a beast and I'm 100% happy i went with Kubota! As far as the fwd/reverse pedal it's a non issue for me, even with my size 13 feet lol. I spend 30+ hours a week on this tractor and it does what I need it to do and beyond! At the risk of sounding biased, Kubota is my first choice for the future!
Great video, I have a JD 4410 and not a big fan of all the plastic that’s cracking and breaking, very expensive to replace. Love my Kubota MX 5200, pedal thing no big deal. I have slipped off JD pedal and stepped on both at the same time and that shit will stop you in a hurry. I have only one issue and that is you can’t get on Kubota from both sides, loader handle in the way, JD I can get on from either side. New sub from northern VA, have a great day and don’t do anything stupid on your 🚜...

I really like my mx5100. Its an 2010 i have right at 800 hrs. I looked at jd,new Holland, mahindra. Bought the kubota. Haven't regretted it.
I purchased a kubota m4d-071 in october 2019 and thought they were close to Deere but I was badly mistaken, it would compare to a deere 5075, the steering is weak, the air is weak the loader leaks down while you are using the tractor, the loader valve has been replaced once but it's still leaking down if the hoses are disconnected from the tractor it holds so it has to be in the valve, it has 3 remotes on the back and all 3 leak down all with 150 hours
During COVID I've tried to buy local as much as possible.....In Canada I class all of NAFTA as local. Which is most NAFTA made machine.......Keep the money close is my opinion. But both make good units.

Here is my counter argument against Kubota. Kubota uses a treadle pedal, and my size 14 boot can barely fit. I actually had to take my foot out of my boot to get my boot unstuck from the Kubota.

If I had stayed with the L4701, I would agree, but after a demo, changed my mind and stepped up to an MX5800. At 6’-4”, 300 lbs and also a size 14 shoe, the extra tractor width solved the heel “wedge” problem. I Love my Kubota, including the treadle.

It's really a matter of priorities, personal likes/dislikes, and how close your dealer is. I have used most brands of tractors and for the most part they will all do their job. Dealer support is important to me. Here in the Midwest you can throw a rock in any direction and hit a JD dealership. But only one Kubota dealer. That matters to me. I could give 5 reasons a Deere is better or most other brands. What turned me off with Kubota was flimsy body parts and that awful treadle pedal.

I watched both your “JD is better…Kubota is better” videos…& agree that both are great tractors! I have been comparing JD and Kubota for our next tractor & your review of the plusses & minuses of each is great! So…after all my research and trying out different tractors, we just purchased a Kubota B2601 & are super excited about delivery next week. We also have a great Kubota dealership here in Idaho with great owners & service which definitely played into that decision a lot too. Also tried the JD and seems like a great platform so a tough decision. Really like the Kubota quick disconnect FEL system since we will be switching it out a lot & the front snowblower on the Kubota seemed to suite our needs much better than the JD options too. I also prefer that the Kubota has steel fenders & cowling but I know lots of JD guys really like the poly cowlings for corrosion resistance. I would rather have steel, so that is just personal preference. Keep up the great work on the videos & thanks again for sharing!

Like a car that sometime ya need a truck or something with more power when most of the time you need good fuel mileage! Almost impossible to have the best of both worlds .
Same for my needs! I bought a brand new L2501 and loved it but there were times when the manual trans was cumbersome and I could have used more Hp. I loved the simplicity of the non regen engine but stepped up to the newer L3902! So far it been leaps above from what I had that fits my needs much better! Wouldn’t buy anything different unless I got a smoking deal on another brand! Part of me thinks that Your paying for the JD name! I get it from customer loyalty that they’ll pay whatever just because they like JD.

I'm in the market for a compact tractor with loader and backhoe and honestly what I'm seeing is that if I take the best qualities of the JD and Kubota and put them together it points towards the Rural King RK 24. I'm just afraid of the possibility of support problems down the line. I'm trying to decide between the 2025r, the 2601 and the RK24.
Im in the same boat man, I want the RK37 cab, but like you said, the dealer support worrys me. I read alot about RK, most people never have problems but those that did, it was difficult for them to get ahold of someone and parts took long to get to them. Seems the RK dealers only have 1 mechanic working on em at each place. Plus what if they stop selling tractors down the road, where would that leave us? John Deer dealer is within 20 miles from me, but the RK dealer is 180 miles away. The John Deer 3039R cab tractor is $11,000 more than the RK 37 cab with the same options. Im leaning toward Deer just for the piece of mind in the long run.

the reason i like the three speed better is you have a better chance of getting the right speed for your transmission; working a hydrostat (any hydrostat) at a low speed/high torque in too high of a gear is a sure way to damage it. the reason is the fluid is being worked harder and heats up alot more, selecting that next lower gear is overall better on your tractor. for those that are wondering, look up how a hydrostatic tractor transmission works and you will see why. there are a few video's on here.
We are in the nursery/tree farm business and my daughter has a small farm to market vegetable/berry farm. Our tractors get used daily and used hard April-October. I have had John Deere, Kubota and New Holland in the compact tractor size. All we own right now are Kubotas, for the reasons of they have better torque, in our area the resale is as good or better, and the hold up better in the real world. No one makes a better diesel motor than Kubota, Bobcat, Ditchwitch, Donkey Forlifts, etc. etc. would agree with me because they all put Kubota motors in their equipment. John Deere makes a great tractor, but you have to get 100 HP plus to get one that John Deere even builds or to even get one that is built in the states. In my opinion, their compacts and sub-compacts are packaged for appeal to the homeowner and hobby farmer. They are basically a Yanmar with green paint, John Deere hood and decals and they rely on the reputation of the their larger equipment to sell it. You can buy a John Deere riding mower in Lowe's for crying out loud.

Had a 3038e. Solid workhorse. Very functional. Wasn’t my favorite. I found myself always working on it. I also had the 160 loader. I felt it was slow and under powered. Had it it 4 years and got 3/4 retail price. In the end I ran hell out of it and got most of my money back. I stepped up to a bigger tractor because I needed it. I would say most of my issues were because I needed something bigger. But on trade in money my pain wasn’t so bad after all

JD's with the Yanmar come with a 10 YEAR warranty, and has tier 4 exhaust emissions (burns cleanest), has the highest fuel economy, and has the highest horsepower with the smallest cubic inch displacement. Duh!

I bought a Kubota B2620 in 2010 and traded it in last year for $1500 less then I paid for it while getting the same discount on the tractor I bought if I had no trade in. Not claiming which brand has better resale but not sure how anything can beat that.

Sure, lots to compare. I see absolutely no difference in steering. If there is, you'd really have to be nitpicking. I drove around many of each today alone and didn't notice anything. Certain Kubota's are definitely quieter, however certain JD's are also quiet. No clearcut winner there. I compare five other aspects in my video John Deere Beats Kubota. Check it out :)

Courtney, ended up pulling the trigger today on a 2020 3025e with several attachments after about a month of research and getting quotes from 3 different JD dealers and 3 different Kubota dealers that are near my house. At the end of the day, this one JD dealer had amazing customer service and total price was 2k less than the next lowest quote for exact same implements/specs. Thank you for your videos, they definitely helped a lot.

I was thinking of a jd 3038e or kubota l3901.....I've heard the jd has an aluminum rear casing vs the steel on ku.....what is your opinion (might want to add a backhoe some day)
Yes, that is true about the rear end. If you want to add a backhoe, go with the Kubota although I did hear JD re-engineered the rear end in 2018 to accommodate a backhoe. The higher end series of JD is cast.
Thanks for the video. Good comparison. There a lot of real fine foreign made products out there. Some may be better in some ways than domestic made products. I always have and always will purchase products manufactured by my fellow American workers even if they may be a little inferior. That is more important to me. American made- first and only choice. Many Kubota tractors are made in the good old USA
The transmission Mid range is needed in the Kubota due to their lack of Hyd power. They use a single pump system supplying the transmission and loader with only one pump where as the Deere runs a 2 pump system supplying the transmission and loader/3 point individually 100% power 100% of the time to both. Kubota needs the M range due to that single pump system. The M range is needed in the larger Deere's and more premium ones due to the ability to add rear SCVs to run hyd implements hence needed to make sure for certain applications full hyd power is supplied to all parts. Deere's 2 pump system allows for actually a better power ratio with no M range needed. Deere performs more efficiently in L and H then Kubota does in L M & H. Just to clarify since you said you didn't know.

You are correct in stating there are 2 hyd. pumps on JD (even the E series) to allow for full pressure to HST when using bucket/3 point/pto attachments. Kubotas system depletes the HST when loader/3 point/pto operates--not conducive to long life HST.

I've seen many that are mangled up, but I'd agree they are more robust than the standard JD bucket. However, JD's HD bucket is better than Kubota's IMO.

In 2004 i purchased three Kubota tractors. I paid cash for all three so price was not a determining factor for my choice of Kubota over Deere. Deere was the only other option since they’re the only other brand that is available near me.
My best friend bought Deere’s competitive model to my smallest Kubota at the same time I made my purchase. His is essentially a rebranded Yanmar. The entire transmission/axle housing on his is made of aluminum whereas the comparable Kubota is all cast iron. His front 4WD is not as beefy as mine. We both purchased mid mount mowers on them. He has replaced the mower belt on average every other year whereas I have yet to replace the original mower belt on mine and I mow almost twice the area that he does. That’s correct. My smallest Kubota has just under 1400hrs and has yet to need the original deck belt replaced.
Now, having said that Kubotas are not perfect. I had two issues with my smallest unit that were “out of the ordinary “. The first was an issue with the 3 point hitch jerking at times when operated. Kubota ad a TSB on the issue that required installation of a small kit that essentially re-routed a return hydraulic hose . Since I was a mechanic the dealer gave me the kit for free and I installed it in about one hour. Problem solved. The next issue was one of the steel oil cooler lines for the hydro system cracked and began to leak. By then the tractor was out of warranty so I messaged Kubota customer service and they sold me the line for 1/2 price. It ended up costing about $65 and I installed the line myself. Problem solved. Other than fluid/filter changes and one valve adjustment that is all I have done to keep it running.
My 4cyl. with balance shafts is smoother and quieter than the 3cyl Yanmar in his Deere. He’s got roughly 600hrs on his and I’ll approaching 1400hrs on mine. To the Deere’s credit it hasn’t had any non maintenance issues arise with it either. He only mows with his whereas I mow, run a rear mount tiller and pull a trailer loaded with firewood. Yanmar makes a good compact diesel engine but they don’t produce their own hydro transmissions or differentials . They purchase them from outside suppliers. Kubota builds all of their hydros, transmissions and differential units in house and are in control of the quality of manufacturing.
After owning the Kubotas for about 20 years now I feel like they were the best tractor for the money at that time. Kubota excels at building compact equipment. If I needed a tractor over 70hp I would look at a different brand. I personally don’t think Kubota is where they need to be on tractors over 70hp. A pre-emissions Deere or New Holland rule the big tractor segment.

If those are the top 5 reasons, sounds like John Deere is way better, especially if you buy all the available upgrades. I have an X500 and am thinking about upgrading to a 1 series so I can still cut grass on my 1 acre property.
I have a mx5100 kubota we had a jd with cab about the same size. My kubota was much more operator friendly to run. The loader was so sloppy on the jd.

Kubota is a great tractor but so are a lot of the compacts. My Case is as good as my Deere but the purchase price compared to the eventual sale is horrible. Same with almost every other compact. JD green and their popularity have kept them at a premium. Kind of like a Toyota pick-up they hold their value.

Actually I've observed the opposite in our area. There are many Deere compacts for sale at low prices, which drives the price down (buyers will want a bargain). On Kubotas, Kioti, Mahindra, New Holland and others, there are less for sale and the prices are higher, and they seem to sell faster. Many of those Deeres remain for sale for quite some time. Most buyers do their research and discover that they have less capacities, weight and features than similarly priced competitors, which reduces their value.

after what JD did to it's longtime dealers >> small dealers when then JD got two 100k sales to lowes & home depo then dropped on those contracts with the small dealers and then to top things of and a kick to the nuts of the small dealers JD kept each dealers $7,500 display deposits.. all so JD could sale 200k in small riders. and maybe 25 k a year after that. No I will never own a JD You couldnt offer a free one to me either.
When I went shopping for a new tractor I was really hung up on the 2-speed vs 3-speed transmission. For my personal use, I did not like the 3 range Kubota on my B2620, especially while snow blowing. The low range was too slow and medium usually too fast unless there was only a couple of inches of snow. Low range on my JD2038R is much better. I have not missed the third gear one bit with any other application.

My Kubota has 2 speeds in each range so i never experienced the medium range being useless, almost like the other two now are. Ive always had JD’s, 3 series and 5 series recently, my new L series Kubota features with its hydro transmission are far superior to the JDs and i say that reluctantly as i love my green tractors otherwise.
If you had $15,000 for a used one. What one would be your go to? It’s for mostly working in the woods and moving brush around and lots of bucket work.
Your tasks tell me you should get a 3 Series JD or L Series Kubota. However, on that budget, you're going to be into a higher hour, older machine. Bump it up $2-4k, and you could get a very nice tractor in that category. I wouldn't buy a smaller frame size as I've had too many folks do that and end up trading in for a bigger machine a year later. Costs them more money in the long run.
I had a used Kubota Mx5000 i got for around $16k with 1500 hours on it. ran perfect and thats what I used for doing alot of tree work. You could maybe get away with the smaller one but even the big mx I felt was too small at times. when I was moving stumps around and had big logs chained to the bucket sometimes I had to drive it on the front wheels as the back ones where not on the ground. but then again I seem to be in the crowd that abuses equipment. even still though as hard as I beat it, it never let me down.

Kubota builds every part of their tractor in house ,making long-term parts availability much better
I'm guessing they don't build every part. Don't know of a large corporation that does that. It isn't financially cost effective. However, a good quality control program with their sub-tier suppliers will assist greatly!

Tires are soft , cheap , okay for smaller tractors. But when you get into 50 + , really work it , they melt like butter. Those yuppie gears will fall apart in a working sitchawation, Basic manual gear shift will stand the test of time

Many different bucket options out there with different intended uses. I have seen plenty of bent edges on each, however the HD JD buckets are reinforced very well. Size should be determined by what the bucket will be used for and the capability of your loader well.
I left out on my comment that where i worked had the jd, i wouldn't buy one.

John Deere 1025R cab beats the Kubota BX2680 cab. John Deere has a much better cab system. The B2650 beats the John Deere 2036R. All depends on which size you want. I will say, the only thing I do not like is all the plastic parts on the John Deere.
You can get A/C in a bx cab. I'd say that beats no A/C.

Good question, I'm not sure.
Probably just as much as the JD. None of them are made in the US.
Kubota doesn't really pretend to be made in the USA though. It's a Japanese company.

Hi, unfortunately not. Maybe someday, but I don't have enough use with Kubota backhoes to knowledgeably speak to them.
James Wallace A comparison has been done on this on other channels,its been found that Deere chews up Kabota in this category also.The story is that if you max out a Deere and a Kabota in its ability to lift weight in general(front end loader)the Kabota must run its engine at 2,000 R.P.M.in order to pick up the exact same amount of weight that a Deere can at 550 R.P.M.idle.The Deere has a much stronger hydro-pump and this means its ripping power is much stronger as well when using a backhoe.
I prefer kubota dependability over Deere but I'll be sticking with the 1958 Ford 800 w/ front end loader/backhoe...you can drop a tactical nuke on it and all it does is shine up the 4500 pounds of steel
