I actually really loved this anime. It deals with heavy topics and difficult emotions but it does it very well. Like it's showing the cruelty of humanity and one can't help but feel sorry Ayase but this situation slowly gets resolved when he starts to bond with Kanou emotionally. I think they both managed to open up each other and bring something good and hidden out of each other. They both hit rock bottom at a certain point of their life but each time they uplift each other somehow. Also the other characters are also loveable and the little humour in the anime definitely helps to ease the tense and dramatic undertone a bit. (And yes, the opening is beautiful as well.) So overall, despite having questionable moments and certain imperfections, it is still a very well done and touching anime and probably the best yaoi I've ever seen.
