Alexandrine Learns Stepping Up is a Trick

In this video you see a live training session where I train Rasta the alexandrine parakeet that stepping up is a TRICK and I no longer use the touch training stick. At first he realizes he gets a reward for the trick of putting one foot on me, then he exaggerates that behavior when I don't reward by stepping up completely. Notice he is calm when he learns, happy and not eye pinning. The less eye pinning the better with Rasta although some jackpot treats may cause him to eye pin.

THANK you so much for posting this. I have a 3 month old alex and she is very nippy in testing out a perch. Ive been bitten by her and am now scared to keep 'presenting' my hand. I think this approach will work wonders. Those beaks can be intimidating haha Thank you again for all that you do

I've got new parakeet couple of months ago. I'd love to train n play with her but she does not come out of her cage. And she is so jumpy and afraid of everything. Please advise on how to bond with her and how to train her to trust me?

Awe. We did post an update on how he took to the training with his owners back home but a few months later they sadly found him dead in his aviary and were unable to get a necropsy to determine what happened. :(

would these training videos also help tame an african grey? She has been abused and has very little trust/compatibility towards humans. Don't think she was introduced to many things as a young either, considering how she's terrified of anything that creaks or cracks.
