My favourite walk for all around the year. It starts at the end of Altrincham Road which is approx 1km from the Ship Inn in the centre of Styal. There is some on road parking available near to the start but it does get very busy. It's about 11.5km and almost all level with good paths. Where I show the planes taking off normally happens from 6am through to 10.30am, then they switch back again at approx 4pm. Please enjoy, this was fun. Before they built runway 2 or that tunnel, going back over 50 yrs, me and 5 other kids hiked all the way around ringway, starting at the main terminal. Took us all nite but it was summer and we didnt have a care in the world.
Listening to airport sounds at 3 am, lots of clanging and hammering, the sound carries for miles. Kinda magical.
We used to swim in the bollin near castle mills. I live in the usa now since 1970.
Great memories.

Fantastic informative video. Learnt a few things today, I never knew there was a footpath the other side of the dual carriageway.

It's a nice walk around there! Been to the end of Runway 1 but wondering how to get to the place at 12:40 because I know that's the end of Runway 2.
