Great video. As a Wolves fan i’m glad you recognized Rudy’s improved defense on the perimeter and KAT playing the best defense of his career too. People love to draw comparisons between the wolves this year and the Jazz when Rudy was there. Failing to understand the Jazz only player besides Rudy who was even remotely competent on defense was Royce O’neale. The Timberwolves have atleast 6 other players besides Rudy who are good to great, VERSATILE defenders.

No way… He doesn’t have the playoff success for that. Tim Duncan and Hakeem Olajuwon are a tier above everyone else and then several more before Gobert like Bill Russell, KG, David Robinson, Ben Wallace, Scottie Pippen, Draymond and Kawhi. He might be making a case for 10th over Dikembe Mutombo

All I can say is Minnesota needs a championship in something. We have the worst streak from any sport with no championships and the Timberwolves team could be the first to break our horrible streak.
6:59 I think you’re really double counting the turnovers as an offensive problem rather than THE offensive problem. They top three in 3pt%, top seven in true shooting and have two all stars offensively. It’s not that they can’t afford to give away possession cause they need the possessions to support a bad offense, but instead that the turnovers are the only thing holding the offense back. It’s a big deal cause it’s one thing to solve instead of turnovers and bad offense (which is more likely to be personnel based)
IF the Wolves win it all this season. You can add Ant as a top 5 player in the league cause you know it will be due to riding him throughout the playoffs. Then the talks of where can he rank among all time greats when all said and done talk will start on sports talk shows. And mark my words, those days are coming. Sooner than people may think.
I feel like a lot of people don’t understand how close the wolves were last year. We gave the nuggets the biggest fight out of any team and we weren’t even complete. Kat missed 60 games, gobert, NAW and Conley all joined halfway through the season and had no chemistry, Jaden mcdaniels, Naz Reid and slomo all got injured right before the playoffs so it was basically ant vs the nuggets offensively. I genuinely believe if the current wolves team replayed that nuggets team that we would win that series especially since all of our bench players have improved drastically and they all have had time to build chemistry.
So crazy that a team with Ant and Kat has been an offensively inconsistent team. If they can maintain composure on both ends of the floor... It's going to go really far
I Think the timberwolves are the title favorites because they have borderline all star players and here is a better explanation. Talented Roster and Emerging Stars: The Timberwolves boast a roster filled with exciting young talent. Anthony Edwards, the 2020-21 Rookie of the Year, has electrified fans with his explosive scoring ability and charisma. Alongside him, Karl-Anthony Towns dominates both ends of the court, showcasing his versatility as a big man. Their synergy and potential bode well for the team’s future. Defensive Anchors: Led by Rudy Gobert, the Timberwolves have fortified their defense. Gobert’s shot-blocking prowess and rim protection make opponents think twice before venturing into the paint. His presence elevates the team’s overall defensive efficiency, a crucial factor in their success. Coaching and Leadership: Under the guidance of head coach Chris Finch, the Timberwolves have found stability. Finch’s strategic acumen and player development focus have reinvigorated the team. His ability to maximize their strengths and address weaknesses has been pivotal. Offensive Firepower: Minnesota’s offensive game is multifaceted. They move the ball well, find open looks, and capitalize on transition opportunities. With players like Edwards, Towns, and Michael Conley, they can light up the scoreboard. Their offensive rating ranks among the league’s best. Jason Kidd’s Endorsement: Former NBA star and current Dallas Mavericks coach, Jason Kidd, recently praised the Timberwolves. After a tough loss to Minnesota, Kidd acknowledged their prowess, stating that they are the best team in the league1. His words resonate with fans and analysts alike. Resilience and Recent Success: Despite challenges, the Timberwolves have persevered. Their recent victories against formidable opponents, including the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs, demonstrate their mettle. They’ve climbed to the top of the standings, and their resilience makes them a force to be reckoned with.
Honestly, I really want Minnesota to finally win. They're one of my favorite teams and I pray they'll win it all soon, but they need experience, so the WCF is the most relistic spot they'll end up being.
Wolves are really the only team in the NBA that completely controls how far they go. When they don't turn it over they have an insanely efficient offense, with the 7th highest eFG%
Look historically at what teams that have the best defense in the league do in the playoffs. Basically they always at least make the conference finals. Defense still wins championships even in basketball. The only thing we lack in Minnesota is playoff experience but I think that series against Denver last season will really prove to be huge. Time will tell 🐺
I still prefer my 4 allstar perfectly meshed team of: KG, Cassell, Spree and Wally. Cassell was absolute killer in clutch time. If he had not gotten hurt we make the finals 100% and great chance we beat Pistons.
@@rosssivertson6339 We were up 2 to 1. Up at halftime with both Kobe and Shaq in major foul trouble since we attacked the paint like crazy. Then after halftime we just settled for all jump shots and the rest is history. So instead of being up 3 to 1 they tied it 2-2.
I am French, I am a big supporter of Rudy Gobert since the start of his career despite being disappointed sometimes by his lack of progress in offense, and even with all that I thought the trade for him was a very bad idea by the Wolves, never thought it would work alongside KAT, and thought he was not worth all those picks (still kind of think it tbh). The Wolves proved me and a lot of people wrong this season! I hope for KAT and Gobzilla that they achieve success in the playoffs too!
Something that people don't talk about is how much better NAZ has gotten on defense he used to be an arm slapper in the paint but now he does well to not foul and stay in front of his guy
Jaden McDaniels has the highest clutch rating on the team which is great for him but concerning when it comes to the playoffs. We need our stars to hit big shots
The salary cap issue for this team next season is a concern though, with Conley got extended, the Wolves salary will be 185/186 million on 7 rotation guys and 3 bench warmers. They are also impossible to resign SloMo with 3 supermax on their roster with KAT,ANT and Gobert. Maybe this is the off season that Tows will be move? Even with this success?
damn... I never thought about that but the Wolves have been ass almost all history , this is for sure the best timberwolves team ever (even if you just look at talent OR stats)
Here to congratulate Ant & the Timbs on sweeping KD & the Suns, winning their first round series since 04 🎊 🎊 🎉🎉 Lakers fan Edit: 2-0 vs the Nuggets, wow! 🎊
I think they're a legit team and they have a chance but I wouldn't consider them a favorite. In the playoffs because you're playing better teams there's a lot more focus on half court offense and less transition opportunities, and teams can focus in and scheme better on defense, so I think their offensive troubles could get absolutely exposed and abused in a playoff series. However like you said if Ant levels it up, Kat actually plays better, not worse, and McDaniels can get closer to 40% from 3 during the playoffs, they could in theory put together 4 good offensive games before 3 bad ones in a full series and let the defense carry them through
Jaden last year needed to be on an all defensive team. This year, overall, he has not been that. Still really good but not on that level imo. So i guess he will make it then a year later is my guess. 🤔🙄
they are for real. Only weakness is point guard, conley isn't the same. All they need to do is sign a good point guard and they will beat anyone. Naz and Mcdaniels are brutal Towns should get most improved player award. They flat out dominate in the paint and this coach is my coach of the year
Only player i do not trust on my wolves come playoffs is Towns. I have been pro trade Kat. If he plays like trash again these playoffs. And they do not trade him next summer, i will riot.
This fool really has them fourth out in the west ☠️ they have favorable matchups against the thunder and clippers and play the nugs the best in the conference. They are locked in at 2 until proven otherwise
The Thunder are too soft. Chet gets pushed around. That matchup depends on how physical the refs let them play If they call touch fouls. Okc has the slight advantage. If they let them play, okc stands no chance Wolves are 2-0 vs the clippers this season, with the wolves dominating in each game so far
I feel as though the T-Wolves are a Western Conference Finals team at best, I'm sorry I just can't see them going to the Finals this season, plus with guys like Gobert, Towns, and Conley all getting older they need to get some younger talent around Ant-Man because they won't be there for long, and I actually don't like the bench that much for this team as other people might, they're a great team don't get me wrong but I think they've overachieved a bit imo. If you ask me I like the Nuggets, Clippers and Suns over the Timberwolves, just saying.
Just say you dont watch wolves games. Wolves have one of the best benches in the NBA. Naz Reid and Nickeil Alexander Walker would be starting on almost every west team.
I can't say I agree with the assertion that the wolves would "plummet down the standings" without Gobert given that they have two elite wing defenders in McDaniels and Edwards, an above average defenders in KAT and NAW, and literally the entire rest of the rotation is at a minimum an above average team defender. However, Rudy is indeed the straw that stirs the drink. There's no more dominant force in the paint than Gobert. But conversely, the defensive talent around Rudy has allowed him to actually leave the paint on close outs or on rare occasions even defend at the perimeter because he can trust the rest of the guys on the court. Again, I don't think they'd plummet, but if I was a Wolves fan, I definitely wouldn't want to see what a Gobert-less Wolves team looks like, either. I keep expecting the Wolves offense to take a jump. Its been less than the sum of its parts this season, but they have flashes of brilliance that show you what they could potentially be. A few big things that stand out for me with their offense: -Too many turnovers (duh). -Too often in the 4th quarter they resort to iso ball instead of relying on the ball movement that worked so well in quarters 1-3. -I love Jaden McDaniels, but he flat out needs to step up his scoring game. He's regressed offensively this year and you don't expect that from a guy his age. -They're a great 3 point shooting team with high 30's and low 40's % shooters all over the roster. But they don't take nearly enough of them. Would love to see their 3 point attempts jump by +5 per game.
Recently the offense has been a lot better, taking more threes and turning it over less. In there last 10 games I think they're 5th in offensive efficiency.
@@wemakecookie You're spot on, Cook and I had meant to mention how good they've looked offensively their past dozen games or so. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.
