I had abdominal surgery several years ago, for female issues, and my doctor advised I be off from working for three full months. I started feeling better after two months, so I started going back to work half-days. Going back to work actually set back my recovery. I had to go back to full days recovery. Catherine should follow doctors orders and we should mind our business! 😊

Even when Catherine does come back she will need to take it slow. Her energy will fail her although she is young. Our bodies tell us what it needs.
Back in the 80’s and prior, patients having abdominal surgery were out 12 weeks, period. Rare occasions it was 8 weeks. Abdominal surgery is one of the toughest surgeries to have, female issues or not. Patients stayed in the hospital a good 7-10 days.
Nothing about Catherine’s recovery is surprising, nor shocking. They stated she would be out until Easter, the media needs to leave her alone and focus on Friar Tuck and his refusal to address the horrendous abuse of his his charity African Parks against the Baka people😡
Me too! I was told 3 months and up to six months with it being 9 months before I'm totally healed! I'm at the 4 month point and it's difficult to be patient 😂❤
William, Catherine and Charles owe no explanation to anyone for keeping things private. As the glorious Princess Anne is credited as saying, everyone can ‘naff orff!’

I'm sorry I have to disagree, when your head of state your people are entitled to know the situation at hand. It's not like old days "which QEII" was stuck in. To me she was my elder but you have to change with the time's. She would have lost everything when she didn't return to England when Princess Di left us. QE had to be told to Return or she would not be Queen. I remember this... Now if the people are paying taxes to supply the rest of the RF then their part of the information world. I'm like everyone else I don't like paying taxes.

It is so unbelievable. He and Lady Gabriella looked so blissed out every time they appeared together. He was very successful professionally. Clearly he was a troubled soul. Very, very sad. Such a waste.
We never truly know what goes on with one another-the negative thoughts, the depression. So very sad he felt he had no other choice, and so sad for those who loved him so.
I do wonder if he suffered from PTSD after his time as a hostage negotiator! Didn’t know much about him but he looked like s nice man. Feel for Gabriella and his parents!

I was over there and if he was a hostage negotiator that is not an easy job. I had no problem sleeping before I went to Iraq and Kuwaiti, but I don’t sleep very well now. Knowing he was a hostage negotiator he had to have some horrible, horrible pictures in his head that he couldn’t talk about to just anyone because you have to have clearance to hear what he was doing and what was bothering him. Why, oh why, is everyone up in arms over this? I just don't understand that kind of intrusion, at all. First thing I thought of when Prince William cancelled was the poor thing probably ate something that disagreed with him, and I had hoped everyone would just respect his privacy. But, no. I had a boss who was like this. I took a leave of absence to go abroad and study for two months and he repeatedly (not rudely but still) inquired about what I would do on the day after I left the office and before boarding the plane. I finally said "I'm getting my legs waxed" and he shut up 😂

Every single human being on this planet is entitled to clinical confidentiality. I worked with patients, both private and NHS, and confidentiality was of paramount importance. Therefore, The Royal Family are under no obligation to reveal any details about their health to anyone.
Here in the United States we have a Federal law that is the strictest of laws regarding regarding one's medical history and diagnosis. It's called the, "HIPPA-Heath Insurance Portability Act," it was created in 1996, and it basically requires national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge. The HIPPA law is good and does just what it says. I have had to sign numerous ones to protect my health information. I am certain that Great Britain has the same type of law too. We do not have the right to know what Princess Catherine's diagnosis is, nor anything related to it. If Princess Catherine wants to share was her health information or any shred of what her malady or surgical procedure she underwent then she will do it. It is her decision. It's the lowest of the low, and evil to make statements about what is really going on with Princess Catherine. Those whom have given information as being 100% reliable are some really sick bas***ds! I truly wish that the force that gives them the power of speech and written negative thoughts be ceased at once. It's very ugly and atrocious.
Sure however Charles had the generosity to share his problem which lifted shame and fear from many and there was a big increase in men getting checkups. His actions helped many, and those around them. I respect Charles more because he did this. And Catherine less.
Can I just say I don't think all and sundry should be privy to personal details of anyone's medical problems . Should anyone choose to tell of their own illness , that is that person's choice. Should they want to have privacy then that should be protected.

Unfortunately, I have found, in multiple occasions, that God has frequently abandoned his responsibilities.
Suicide is a very public outcome of a very private decision.
As someone who has struggled with personal issues, I can sympathize with the victim and their loved ones.
May he be at peace which somehow eluded him.

get the much-needed help. Surely, he could have afforded the treatment even if he couldn't receive any help from the military. I really think the military should bring in their former officers who served during wartime for occasional checkups. Perhaps, this tragedy could have been avoided.

We do not know his story,life issues or his childhood. That’s private and personal and at the moment so sensitive. Then to mention his financial status for treatment, is surely offensive.
Suicide like any illness can be illusive. We do not know circumstances ,certainly out of respect ,all comments on this intimate
subject ,should remain,confidential. The family is suffering.

Good grief! Everyone needs to stop speculating about Catherine, William, and the King! You are right! Get a life! They are a family! People get sick in families. I wish them health and their privacy! They are an open book most of the time! People should move on and they will appear again soon. At least they aren't beating us to death over the head with puff pieces like the Harkles are here in the US! I am sick of hearing about them! Every time they breath, move, drive a car, eat a meal?! My brother was friends with Thomas Kingston. He said he and Ella were devoted to each other. He only saw him a few weeks ago and he seemed full of health and happiness. He's aghast. He just doesn't understand 😰

I don't think anyone can truely understand the level of desperation, despair, and hopelessness that a person must feel for them to commit suicide.

I had abdominal surgery when I was 15 years old. The recovery was a long process but I felt so great. I wanted to do everything and act as usual but when I did it never went well. I then lived life gently for a few months so that I could recover. Ever since then I've had such respect for people in the medical field. My scar is big but I'm still here in good working order 40 years later.
Long time subscriber here, so I'm used to your spontaneous posting schedule. If you don't post for an extended period of time, I just imagine you're having the time of life with your friends, shopping for fancy bobbles, or just living your fabulous life. Every post is like a sweet treat. Besides, you know what they say about too much of a good thing!

Yes, can you imagine Kensington Palace coming out with anything like « The Prince of Wales was unexpectedly indisposed. We do apologise. Being unable to leave the bathroom for 24 hours with food poisoning made his presence at his beloved Godfathers memorial service impossible. He is feeling much better now » (or whatever the issue was).
It was a day to focus on King Constantine of Greece in remembrance, not Prince William’s personal issue. People have no awareness of boundaries nor how to honour the dead when indisposed for whatever reason. People are acting like a baying crowd of late..

I moved into my new home just before Xmas and had no idea what was in the garden. Last few weeks I've seen snowdrops, crocuses and now huge daffodils! I had no idea, all I saw was shoots
They always say if you move, dont touch the garden for a year, you never know whats in there.
I made a mistake once, and dug up what I thought was a dead shrub, turned out the neighbours all had one, so when they flowered, I realised it had been a dormant Magnolia.

I appreciate your talking about the terrible tragedy that has befallen Lady Gabriella and the two families of Mr. Kingston. It is indeed heart-wrenching, and indeed shows that whatever marvellous life and gifts of character one has, the vulnerability to tragedy and hardships is universal. My prayers are for the grieving families and friends, including the extended family like William and Catherine.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston found their great love in one another. I spent some time after the heartbreaking announcement was made watching footage of their wedding day, as well as other video of the pair. They practically glowed with love for one another. It was beautiful to see. What a tragedy.

Yes, I am glad (as always) that I tuned in today!. Here in Vancouver we have very soft water due to the glacial and snow melt source, and don't get lime scale, lucky us. As to the worriers, my thoughts are that you, River, are entitled to live your life without being concerned about when you will do your next broadcast. I consider your videos a treat and am grateful for the video tidbits you choose to share with us....Being a lowly human with a curious nature, I did wonder as to what had happened to Mr Kingston...how very tragic and sad. My heart does go out to his family and friends....One never knows what demons torture a soul, it's not always visible and we don't know what goes on behind closed doors either. We should treat each other with great love and kindness. As to William canceling, I'm sure there was a good reason for it and the reason is none of our business. Diana & Charles' relationship was so much more complex than the media portrays it.

That was what Diana meant by 'the 3 in the marriage comment'.
I am not saying that Charles wasn't seeing Camilla but they should never have been married really. Diana was not stable due to her childhood but Martin Bashir committed a heinous crime in fuelling Diana's paranoia. Charles and Diana may have worked out their differences, if Diana hadn't been duped into doing that interview. You never know.
The Earl of Spencer is still involved in legal action against Martin Bashir and the BBC. Prince William is fully supportive of his uncle.
Not all situations are black and white.
I do not believe that Diana and Charles should not have participated in any interviews. At the time I felt that it was very selfish and they should have thought about the negative impact on their boys. I still stand by this opinion.

I don’t know about the UK but years ago in America, if you purchased a box of assorted chocolates, although it would give you a list of the baser ingredients, it wasn’t until later on that they started including a card with photos of each different assorted chocolate in that box, so before taking a chocolate, you could match the chocolate to the picture on the card that tells you exactly what chocolate you’re getting. For example if you don’t like cherry or peppermint then you no longer had to do the guesswork. So in Forrest Gump they used that analogy to describe life. “Life Is like a box of chocolates (assorted) you never know what you’re going to get”. I remember biting into many chocolates only to be quite disappointed. Chocolate cheers to you! ❤

I get so fatigued having to educate people about the extramarital shenanigans of Diana, but in fairness I am usually talking to other USians, who have limited knowledge of Diana and Charles’s marriage. Just today I was in the gym locker room, getting dressed after a swim, when I heard some friends talking and one brought out that old chestnut, “Charles never loved Diana” followed by how terrible he was for ruining her life. I gave the person a list of books she should read if she wanted to get a more even-handed picture of the complicated situation. It really saddens me when people who don’t know what they’re talking about hurl invective at Camilla.; anyone with eyes can see that she has done a great deal towards making Charles a happier person, she works incredibly hard, and she has stood up and just done a fantastic job as Queen, in my opinion. I’m particularly moved by her devotion to less ‘polite’ causes like domestic violence. Give the lady a break; all of the people harping about adultery probably shouldn’t be throwing stones, because I doubt they are perfect or free from perceived sin, either. Rant over!

The poor royal family at the moment. It seems relentless. I can't imagine the questions left unanswered for those left behind when someone ends their life. I think it's deplorable when someone says these people are cowards. They are desperate and just can't see any other way. It's heart breaking and utterly tragic. I hope the family can find some way forward and happiness. Now, they just need time and privacy to heal. I hope that is respected.
However, these people are just passing on pain to others who love them. It is a horrible legacy
I must say, even though I would love for you to post content a couple of times a week, I think I appreciate you more because you don’t. Like other channels that consistently post on royal topics, you aren’t grasping at any little thing to post about. It makes your commentary a bit more genuine. Your honesty is so refreshing at times. I chuckled and can imagine the worry comments can be off-setting and actually make a person not want to do more. Also, your comments about not liking everything about anyone, including ourselves, is so true. I think you've been very clear in your respect and love for William, so making any comment about one or two things you disagree with, doesn't even dent all the other comments of sincere appreciation for him. So true how social media has changed public attention on some subjects and people! People who want privacy have to respect privacy of others, even if the others are public people. I am feeling the touch of Spring myself, River. I have 2 small bedrooms that probab!y haven't been painted for quite sometime. The house belonged to my husbands parents. I think in the 90s they had someone paint some of the rooms. Time for a refresh. I have started in the closet and my how it brightens it up by painting it white. I will be adding another shelf for more storage. Then my son will do the ceiling, he is a bit taller than me. For me the reward is how much more beautiful it looks after all the work. But of course that means a Comforter, curtains, lol

Dear River - Please don't interpret all who are asking if you are OK as wanting to push or hurry you. I do think that many simply do not understand that your TH-cam presentations are not your only 'occupation', as it is for many who do video-casts on a regular / daily basis as prime activity / income sources. So a gap in your conversations is therefore perceived as something being amiss. It is good that you clarified your many obligations, but do not be surprised if people are 'worried' about you again in the future, due to ignorance that you have many other obligations. [On the other hand, those who are sincere about their concern about a perceived absence, should have the faith in you to know that you wouldn't be absent unless for a very good reason.] The very, very great majority who watch your channel do so because they truly admire, like and completely enjoy you, your humour, personality and insights - and therefore they sincerely care about your well-being. People irritate me (regularly, lol) when I hear them want to know “what personal reasons Prince William had when he missed the service”! He’s the damn Prince of Wales and Future King of England! It’s not like he can call in sick or take a personal day off from being THAT! People need to leave the man alone. He has So much on his plate and there is so much he does behind the scenes that he just needs to be given some grace when he asks for it. And the Princess of Wales too. P.S. Thank you, River, for being a balanced voice of reason in regards to another tragedy which is the conflict between Russia & Ukraine, where 2 brotherly Slavic nations are killing each other, provoked by the outsiders. Though I'm not British, I've always appreciated the late Queen for what she was not as just a monarch but more of an international symbol of wisdom with an unparalleled life experience, someone to look up to, even if you're on opposing sides. Someone, who somehow always found the right words with humane approach and diplomacy, without politics. It's somewhat disappointing that both of her heirs chose to forego this wise stance of neutrality which in some cases leads to war, as we now observe it.
A niece of my family's close friend from the suburb near Donetsk (which is now again a part of Russia) has recently visited the said friend (outside of Russia & Ukraine). She says that they're glad to be a part of Russia again and thanks to Russia the shelling has now diminished significantly to what it was before 2022, though it' still happens occasionally. I hope this conflict ends ASAP, but regrettable and careless calls this week of some EU and UK "leaders" (like Macron & others) to send NATO forces to Ukraine again provoke a wider conflict. Putin has just warned the west again to stay out of Russia's borders & territory and no harm will come to you (i.e. the west), but these "leaders" don't care, even about their own people, who might suffer as a result. And all this coming now, after New York Times finally admitting in their revelatory (but not surprising) piece what's been deemed as lies in the western msm until recently: involvement of the "outside" forces in Ru-Ukr conflict. We need peace. The world needs peace. Enough gaslighting already. Sorry for "somewhat" lengthy comment. I know you don't like them and I get it. I'll be happy if you read even half of it.

Then we had why do we not know the reason for William pulling out of a private memorial service 45mins before-because it’s none of our business ! The usual hysteria ensued, the end of the world, the end of the Royal Family etc. I found myself screaming, “the poor man could have a bloody bout of diarrhea for all we know, leave the man alone.” I don’t know who is encouraging this, between the press and the keyboard warriors, but surely the press could actually be discussing something more serious like, I don’t know, the fall of the UK ? Just a thought.
As soon as I heard Prince William had canceled on very short notice I thought " I bet the kids brought a virus home and he has the runs!" It happens to all of us even a prince. People need to relax and get on with their own lives instead of worrying about everyone else's life. 😊

Thanks you for the subscribe reminder. I've been one for forever and your videos always show in my feed and I watch everyone. I checked when you mentioned it and found I wasn't subscribed anymore. Now that that's rectified, I just want to mention the Forest Gump quote was time specific to the movie. It was appropriate in that time. They didn't used to indicate what each of the chocolates were. You'd have to bite into it to find out. There would be a list of ingredients, but that didn't tell you which piece had what. That's not the case anymore because people complained and law suits happened from people having allergic reactions. The quote is no longer accurate, but we still say it because it was once true. Just like we still say roll the window down in a car with electric windows.
My shower has driven me nuts! Scrubbing, vinegar and tears. just this morning I was mulling over what I would do next. Voila, River to the rescue. I will give your suggestion a try, thank you.

Christmas Day waiting to see the royal family walk by on their way to church. Some of them were even in wheelchairs, it was Christmas , a time when most people have their OWN personal family traditions, especially in the morning . Even if it’s no more than staying indoors, keeping warm, sipping on hot tea/coffee and enjoying some nice holiday treats. Buy some jigsaw puzzles, some board games.

I was absolutely horrified to learn of this man’s demise. I am so sad for his wife and family. They were gorgeous together & appeared to be so happy and in love. I certainly understand people have their demons, and find it so heart wrenching. I also understand that sometimes people can feel desperate in certain situations. Please forgive me if my question seems insensitive, I don’t intend to be, but do you think it’s possible that a financial scandal soon to be exposed could have been at the root of this tragedy given his profession? 😢 Prayers & condolences to all who knew & loved him. ❤
