This katana is meant to be dual wielded. It gets excellent stagger against elite type enemies and lower. You need to be decent not excellent with dodges, and off hand katana that compliments the bosses weakness just melts things when put together. It's so much fun, not to mention the I frames on the final Ash chain. 45 dex and 45 int was optimal for me 53 vigor try and hit the poise of 51 with your armor so endurance with vary between 25-30 mind around low-mid 20s depending on your build gives you enough for 15-20 in faith or arcane if you want to buff with incantations or spells, though I would would allocate those points for more damage ex int/dex or vigor, endurance, or mind if needed. My build was 150 for the dlc. Talismans are highly versitle depending of the situation and area you're progressing through. Have fun everyone!
Horned warrior armor has high poise and is a yellow version of the ronin armor. This is the build I keep coming back to, the 3 piece extra crispy skill this weapon has is just tops.
So many of the weapons require a lot of stat investment to really get the damage they should have. And 50 extra levels is chump change in the dlc, lol. Everything drops so many runes. Couldn't agree more
Its more fun at lvl 200, I m using lots of weapons type and diferent styles for each boss, enemy, area or new weapon I discover. Meta its valuable only to pvp, other else play for fun\
This sword looks really good with the black knife armor. I use it altered with the zamor mask and fire prelate gauntlets and greaves. It gets pretty good poise and is peak elden bling imho, try it out!

I’d love to see an update to the perfect paladin build or something similar. I’ve loved the DLC with the hard exception of the final boss. The flashing is just too disorienting to my sensitive eyes.
These build videos are the highlight of my day. I've been watching them since day one of ER launch back in 2022, he never stopped making them even long after most people stopped playing the game. I never did though, and it was mostly because of his videos.
Please Cas, make a Smithscript Great Hammer Build🙏🏾. As of right now that and the shield are some of the most FUN weapons I've used from the dlc. Ragdolling tougher enemies is pure bliss and with the shield you can hit the prone body just to be mean. Also, the shield's unique skill is definitely going to get fixed because as of right now it's probably the best skill for damage to fp cost(3), it's basically a side arm that can hit vertically and will anti air jumping or flying enemies.
I would definitely use the deflecting hard tear when block/countering so much with a medium shield. Not only will your counters do more damage, but you'll get significantly more mileage out of blocking with the shield. On that note though, a shield doesn't seem very thematic for a Samurai, imo. Particularly Elden Ring shields, I don't think any of them really have an Eastern aesthetic, especially if you're choosing from medium shields; most of the good ones are kite shields. Might check the Messmer soldier shield to see how it looks, it's almost as good as the Wolf Crest shield. As for the sword itself, I tried it on my intelligence build, but didn't end up liking it that much. It's cool, but comes off a bit spammy and it's hard to hit anything with the full combo. I still get a lot more mileage out of the Moonveil katana.
Ive been using this weapon for most of the dlc and its awesome. Definitely a ton of fun and really good too. Heres the build ive been using in case anyone is curious: Right hand: Star lined sword/horn bow Left hand: moonviel/staff of the great beyond Armor: Okina mask (+3 dex) Gravebirds blackquill armor (+10% jump attack damage) Spellblade gloves/trousers (+4% AOW damage) Talismans: Shard of alexander Claw talisman Magic scorpion charm Your choice on the 4th i usually use something for stamina Invested very light in endurance, strength, and arcane. Very heavily in vigor, dexterity, and intelligence. This build has been working amazing for me so far. The jump attacks are ridiculous, it does so much damage so quickly. The spells and incantations you can pair with this gives you so many ways to damage enemies.
Are there any “hybrid” builds ? Basically you’ll have two weapons that aren’t used simultaneously, and they both do vastly different things, but your stats compliment both weapons very well.
I went through the first part of the dlc using Milady and Great Katana. Had them both equipped at the same time. They both scale well with dexterity and the great thing is they both work really well with Rellana’s cameo talisman (as long as you keep the default ash of war on each). The ash of war for both weapons is amazing and the katana’s “overhead stance” destroys elites. Add shard of Alexander and it’s a great build! Super fun (and I just love how the stances make you look like an awesome swordsman).
Cool build, could you consider creating 'sekiro like' playstyle build, utilising a twohanded weapon and the deflecting tear, i feel that could have some fun potential.
Love this sword for my Sorcerer, its light enough that it doesn't effect my load and the stat requirements are lenient enough that i didn't have to shuffle any points to use it.
I changed this build up a bit to see what i could do with it. For my buffs and spells, i use golden order seal and the staff of loss, obviously i use the star-lined sword, and i also added the claymore greatsword so i can add the carian sovereignty AoW to the mix. For talismans, i use the bull goats talis, two-head turtle talis, magic scorpion charm, and shard of alexander. To hit 53 poise with the goat talisman, i use the ronin armor set with the blackflame monk legs.
From adds all these cool weapons but most feel bad on a new game but if your in new game plus 3 like i am 95% of stuff feels obsolete. From should add a feature to lower your ng+ difficulty down or up depending on your comfort level and so you can have fun with these weapons. Star lined sword falls off hard in higher ng+cycles.

I'm using this with shard of Alexander(skill boost), Millicents prosthesis(attack power with successive attacks), rotten winged sword insignia(greatly raises ATK power with successive attacks), and ritual sword talisman(boosted attack power when full hp). For wondrous physique I'm using thorny cracked tear(successive attack boost)and magic shrouding cracked tear(magic attack boost) and I'm using rakshasa's armour (each piece adds damage increases but lowers damage negation. Sweet build, similar to my first and only build so far, I made what I call the "Lunar Ronin" I use Moonveil in my right, and Carian Royal Staff in my left, it's a INT and DEX build, I do use the full/twin moon sorceries, among others, but our look is almost identical, just swap out your surcoat for Selvusis's robes and that's my look
The cuckoo knight Armor and greaves, scaled Gauntlets, and iron Kasa give exactly 51 poise and keeps the same aesthetic for anyone was looking to switch up the Armor and free up a talisman slot while retaining the feel of this build ^_________^

This is a cool weapon. I wish the Int requirement was lower or it had better scaling. Still a cool sword.
Disappointed that I can't use the Cragblade AoW on my Smithscript Hammer
Please create a build using pole of the bud. It looks so cool but I can’t make it viable 😭🙏
It would be so much better with a better int scale rather than dex..
Dracula build
Bleed & Dragon incantation hybrid build.
