The "solvent" is flux. It keeps the solder from running everywhere. The "copper tubing" is solder wick. It wicks up solder so you can remove it from places it's not needed, or replace solder that is already there
hello! im getting ready to do this repair for the first time, would the original hdmi still be ok after using the heat gun to remove like that? im attempting to use the same port
Fighting with this the solder is super hard to heat kind of freaked to hold it on hot air so long wow.
What kind of solvent did you use to take the hdmi port off? I see the heat gun but what is the stuff you put on the port to take it off?
And why do you need copper tubing to take it off?

I think just to grip it

if you're in there that deep why not clean out all the dust while you're at it.
I agree because there’s a lot of dust around the heat sink and other components in the system
I always clean a device if I disassemble it. Depending on how deep I go, I also repaste the device.

Those HDMI's are £5 on Amazon. Are you saying you want to clean it up and put the old one back in ??
I tried myself, and honestly, it's worth it to just get the new port
What’s the sticker that’s over the copper plating you used?
@tonyfromaccounting56 This Yellow Sticky Tape to prevent from over heating the components
