Thanks for still posting this, Salmond was a legend and will leave a lasting legacy - it’s sad that this is now the last footage of him and here he is as charismatic and patriotic as ever, doing what he does best - putting Scotland on the map.
Not a hint of bitterness in Alex's speech but his usual insight. Rest in peace Monsieur Ecosse! You were loved and your absence leaves a hole in our society that we need to fill with your example of positivity.

Alex was a Scottish hero to many. He brought the SNP onto the modern political stage, though things went awry in later years. Alex clearly was an inspiration to many others. We may not all agree with his views. Having had a building contractor pass away at my workplace from a massive heart attack just a few weeks ago, my thoughts and prayers are with the conference delegates, the hotel staff as well as Alex's family and friends. Nothing prepares you for a sudden death at work, despite the paramedics best efforts.
It would be great to hear more of the discussion, very interesting points being made, the fact that Alex was there shows the calibre of debate he was at, something the soundbite politicians of the UK and Scotland should take heed of, great points about what England lost after 2014 as well.
Fascinating comments, on the negative effects for ENGLAND and the EU, of the Governments of BOTH, getting the result they WANTED in the Scottish referendum. For England: isolationism legally embedded, a damaged economy, poor governance, social upheaval, and political instability. For the EU: The loss of the WHOLE UK, rather than (possibly) part of it, or one member becoming two. As with the referendum, it is not only Scotland which has lost the contributions of a wise mind.
Less likelihood of neo fascism and war too, and the fracturing of the EU had we be allowed to choose independence without external interference in our decision and vote. Ripples

It's not Westminster's fault you didn't foster a productive populace who prosper enough to heat themselves without subsidy. our energy including our ongoing surplus energy is sold cheaply to the privatised National grid to keep the lights and heating on in the city that uses all the resources it doesnt produce. The National Grid makes a profit that vanishes without tax paid to the British Virgin/Cayman Islands to private shareholders.. Scottish people cant afford to heat homes because the energy is bought back at six times the price it was sold for ..at the international rate for gas prices. As that price has gone through the roof like any heating in a land starved if invest'ment with old poorly or uninsulated housing (thanks to Thatcher preventing councils investing or reinvesting in local housing for a generation. We not only pay more for our own electricity we also pay for the proxy war waged by USUK. Scotland isnt subsidized it is fleeced and then insulted. Now we also watch the horror of war too.
