When Leo doesn’t lead, the team is in some rough stuff. Plus it’s clear that the other turtles can’t make the hard decisions and live with the consequences.
Numbuh 1 proves why he is the leader just by his passing down his glasses to sector z. He knows that he often blows things out of proportions and isn’t always the best man. That’s why his team is ride or die for him. They would follow him even if it meant humiliation.

It seems like his brother was there for extra protection in case another pride came along to attack. If scar stayed in his lane pride rock would have stayed the perfect oasis under Mufasa’s perfect leadership. You got the whole animal kingdom bowing to him instead of staying far away running and hiding he’s gotta get points for that. Plus there was a bad drought before his reign so I’d imagine he certainly built it up through proper leadership. His mere presence keeps the hyenas away who are the only group not going to cooperate in this peace. As a leader he knew he had to push them away and they never come back until Scar plan works. If Scar wanted to take the spot Mufasa believed Scar would have enough pride to go toe to toe in front of everyone and Mufasa would win. Scar just formed a plan so meticulous and got every detail right which should be a testament to Scar’s intelligence over Mufasa’s lack there of.

      Resources were scare
The pride (and other animals) starved
The circle of life was not balanced
The hyenas ran amok, resulting in points 1-3.

Each season of Teen Titans had 1 cast member going thru it and throwing everyone else for a loop. Robin's rough patch and development was literally Season 1 where Slade got in his head and played him like a fiddle, and as a result for the rest of the show he was doing his best to be an actual good teammate and leader. If the other character's arcs happened to throw conflict at him that made him appear unsupportive, it was usually up to the focus character of the Season to get their shit together before the Narrative could rid itself of their bias and correctly frame Robin as their actually supportive friend again.

Nigel Uno is the GOAT of the KND.
Buddy was determined to write “I AM KIDS NEXT DOOR” in the book Number Zero left behind, recognized that he couldn’t have done it without his friends and allys, and wrote “WE ARE KIDS NEXT DOOR” instead.
Buddy could be goofy at times, but his leadership was A1

I think what makes a great leader is that despite their flaws, they're able to get a team together. What people don't realize is that that includes when they need to be held accountable by the team, itself. Normally, people don't give a fuck and leave it as it is, but if they are holding you accountable, it means you're worth something and that they genuinely care.

I think the OG teen titans wouldn't have worked without beast boy. He was genuinely the only character holding everyone down in a good number of scenarios. Also I believe that Leo's open voice about the burden of leadership is the reason why he's the best. He takes it seriously and always looks for the option where no one has to get hurt or die.

Bruh Robin literally only put them in danger once and that was as Red X. The 2 parter doesn’t count cause Slade had him basically in a death grip and couldn’t do anything to help his friends and “Haunted” doesn’t count cause Slade drugged him; no one knew and even Raven said he was real when she went into his mind

I would still give best Leader to Leo, especially 2012 Leo too! He is a Leader showing that you don't have to be perfect, that you can do mistakes, and owns up to his mistakes. And while he can have an ego every now and then, he always manages to turn it back around for his team and be the one his brothers need the most. And that is what I see as a good Leader, not someone flawless by themself, but someone able to own up to their mistakes and help the Team to better themselfs, be there for them not yourself

The reason why TJ is in fact a great leader is in the way he brings people together for elaborate plans. Like I’m in love with the one that they did in the beginning of Recess Schools Out. That movie just shows his leader ship skills the best and he did such a good job that Gus was able to take his place for a bit because he learned from the best. Like that was a real gloss over 😒. TJ is one of the best written character of all time because he honestly has a huge amount of flaws but his charm and charisma makes him who he is. And honestly if it didn’t take place in elementary school TJ could have gone into the despicable field of politics LMAO.

I don’t want to be that guy, but I’m pretty sure somewhere in the series when Leo admits that, Master Splinter says something along the lines of, “Admitting your faults and burdens as a leader proves that you are more than capable to be one.”
Which yeah, man was 15 dealing with loads and loads of stress as a leader. Same with Robin, but at least unlike him, Leo didn’t backstab his brothers the way Robin did with his own team. Wouldn’t say he’s automatically the best leader, but I’d give him runner up for first

I still remember one episode of KND where Numbuh 1 was left to go to an amusement park while the rest of the main cast took their day off. This really shows how much the crew relies on Numbuh One. Simply because they were getting attacked back to back all because Numbuh One usually sets the defense systems but, since he isn't there everyone can get in. Then Numbuh 4 takes over for him and does a terrible job as leader but did get mistaken for Nigel and gets taken away by Lizzie.

Okay though TJ is a leader and a great one. He’s the one who comes up with plans to help his friends. He has flaws, he messes up, he makes bad plans, he can be a nuisance. But he’s still a great leader as he always thinks of others and strives to help others no matter what. He’s not the best on that list but he’s certainly better than a few others and deserves his spot.
