If 909 is good enough for Jeff Mills to make techno in 2020s, then honestly nobody needs a super-duper gear. But I admit I love my TR-8S. Super easy to program. And still a Roland. However it is not that important what do you have, but how you use it.
Apsolutli agree with you gentlemen. I mix with belt turn table and cdj 400, (i think there vintage)and for me it works. If you curious go and see my mixes tribute Mills label and others type of Techno.
These types of simple machines require extensive skill to make sound like this , it’s not magical , it’s also 6 thousand dollars , most definitely high end gear .
Sigo opinando que es un referente absoluto, pero añado que siempre que le veo en directo ( y en el video también) hay mezclas pico finas. A punto incluso de irse
It's not, that's clearly a mixer. TR 909 doesn't have any faders like that, nor does it function like a mixer. It's something weird though it looks, like a mixer-drum machine hybrid.
@@lol69_52 Love it when people get confused by persepctive. The TR-909 is slanted and put in front of the Vestax mixer. The point of view of the camera makes it so the TR-909 obscures both it's own front panel as well as the backside of the mixer. The POV just makes it kinda look like one machine.
hahahahahaha This comment section has had me pissing myself. This dude is a Wizards Sleeve LOL Certainly not a wizard on any piece of musical equipment. Seen him a hundred times live and it's always an absolute train crash.
@@steec6713 Because his taste in music is for me absolutely incredible. I don't really care that much if he's not a great mixer. The thread is just full of plums jumping on a bandwagon they obviously have no clue about, who clearly know jack shit about mixing. This is the Lord of Techno.
Beautiful and millimetric.
The GOAT
The way he keeps that shyt synced is already MASSIVELY impressive
Changed my way of thinking about techno so far
this is art in so many forms
The wizard is unmatched on the TR-909.
Indeed simply the GOAT
What machine is this? Its not a TR-909
@@ApunkDaydreamLamunanOi it’s a tr-909, there’s a mixer behind it which gives the impression that it’s not a 909
@@moimahoi Oh yes :p
Saw Jeff Mills play live last year, similar setup, but this man is at least 10 times better, this is already peak... Imagine now...
I learn from the wizard my beats are off but I love it
My techno HERO!!!
Same he is the greatest IMO
Still the best
I love how perfectly, imperfect this set is.... a real DJ/artist NOT using any kind of synch options! All by ear!

TR-8s is an amazing machine, even better after all the updates.
@@jamesmcn0000 Agreed, 100%... I love my TR8s too
What’s kind of funny is that the 909 is def still priced as super duper gear haha

13:08 this is masterpiece
Anyone else feel that if mr Mills never got into drum machines he probably would've also made an awesome drummer?
he used to drum

Panasonic’s
@@detroittechno7904 Thank you
@@bellpepper3166 your welcome man.
oh look...all the TR 909 is going out the same output. These people moaning about new TR 09 only having two outputs sound kinda stupid.
DJ mixers has only stereo inputs. Thats why they use only the main out here. In the studio it's nice when you can grab all sounds separatly.
ok just for that I’m gonna blast my TR-09 a lil louder tonight 😆👍🏻
somebody know what is the mixer he's using???
A vestax
In this series yes
Jeff Mills usually uses Vestax mixers from the PCM range. You can't really see clearly but it kind of looks like the PCM-500
It's PMC 500 spécial made for jeff with 6 chanels. Original have 5 chanels and the first on the left (chanel) it's a mic in with mid and high only.
🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝👍👍👍👍👍👍
What is the Roland machine?
A TR 909.
