Mine is also a French watch case (it's on the inside of the back cover). But I think it had ETA movements in it. They did use 25 & 17 jewel movements. 17 is a bit low for an automatic. Incidentally, at that time, Heuer watches (on the dial) with TAG Heuer watch straps and visaversa were in the store.
