      You're not a machinist. You're an operator

    Very well presented. Slow, clear, zoomed on every buttons pressed.
    I watched different videos on machining, even from the machine manufacturers. They all seem to assume when they pressed a button, the watchers saw what they did even if the scene was taken at the back of the presenter.

    Man, I have just bought an SL10, never used a Haas before, I spent about 2 hours today reading the manual trying to figure this out, you solved it in about 5 minutes. Thank you so much. I have a jib due out tomorrow to be done on this little lathe and I was hoping to knock it out this afternoon but I could not figure out how to write in the diameter measurement, I couldn’t get the previous measurement to delete... and I couldn’t find it in the manual.

    Why the X offset on a rough surface? And as the surface was not worked it is not perfecly centered with the axis.

    Thank you

  • @nguyenvu9248

    Very good explanation. So G54 work off set only set on 1st tool if we have more tool than1 in program in same G54 ?

    • @jasonbone5121
      @jasonbone5121 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@agentsmith7947 He was demonstrating the method. Yes, G54 will work on all tools but you must set the tool offset for each tool to be used in the program.

    • @juanezxcore
      @juanezxcore ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As far as I understand tool offset is for each tool and work offset is a global offset that will effect each tool by the g54 value

    So how does g54 know that it's being set via tool 1 position? After this is done with tool 1 do I need to reset geometry for the other tools as well?

    • @CNCMachinistEducationNetwork
      @CNCMachinistEducationNetwork 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      G54 on a lathe is a shift - and you only want to shift the Z direction - never the X on a 2 axis lathe. In this demo he set T1 Z face and wants the G54 Z to NOT add any more. (they will add together). If you had a second job with a longer part with same tools you would only need to shift the Z face for all tools using G54.

    So this really didn't set G54 The setting he had was the same as G52 (Machine Home Position) Also the position your TOOL PRESETTER is Referenced to. Say you wanted to set G55 Go to MDI, Delete whatever preexisting info there is. Type G55 write/enter, Cycle Start. This'll enter you into G55 Work Positioning. You can see it in HAND JOG / display POSITion. So Say you put your part in. The face of that part ( Z ) is zero. But you want your Turret position to be say Z-5.0 from your G52/Home position. As long as you have swing clearance. Enter that in offsets page G55. Then probe off your tools. I may have confused myself a bit. Still searching for that video that describes it better.

    Never set cutting tools like this. Use a precision ground gauge pin and move away (Z+) until pin clears then hit zero part set and minus diameter of gauge pin
