I have Gamma 2 & 3. It was a band formed by Ronnie Montrose (who used to have a band called Montrose - Sammy Hagar was the singer). Eloy were good (German prog band early 80s). Jet Harris and Tony Meehan were in the Shadows.
Johnny and the Hurricanes and Ventures are both instrumental groups but if you hear a song you will recognize it immediatly. Ventures is Bass, rhythm, solo-guitar and drums. Johnny and the Huuricanes also have an organ with them. Both around 60-ies but Ventures did make records till the eighties. Jet Harris was former bassplayer from the Shadows btw.
A pick n' mix bag there. The Bond soundtracks were all originally on United Artist Records- Sunset was the reissue label. Chiesmans was a department store based in Lewisham. They had a branch in Tunbridge Wells. I used to go there many years ago.
Nice haul. Love the Bond! That Gamma is so good! Gamma features the killer guitar work of Ronnie Montrose. Their 2nd album is great as well. And Morricone’s soundtrack is killer! Hang’em High is a good Clint movie. Eloy is the band, I own a bunch of their albums, they’re fantastic. Cheers
Johny & Hurricanes GREAT instrumental band.R n R---Numerous hits--Red river rock---Beatnick Fly & many others.Everly Bros great duo and too many great songs to mention.Paul McCartney wrote song for them & played & produced it.On the Wings of a Nightingale.Jet harris & Tony Meehan had a few hits, all very good--Drummer & Guitarist ex Shadows.Ventures also great instrumental band, well known.
Bobby Darin was a great singer and he wrote a lot of his own songs including Dream Lover, Things and Jailer Bring Me Water some of his other major hits were Mack The Knife and Splish Splash he had a heart condition and died when he was only 37 years old. Both Jet Harris and Tony Meehan were original members of The Shadows and eventually left them and uad a couple of hits together. Burt Weedon eas probably the most influential guitarist of all time he wrote the guitar manual Play In A Day and was a big influence on guitarists like Brian May, Hank Marvin anf Jimmy Page
As someone has said records were not cheap back in the 60s/70s...very much equivalent to todays prices. The ones with stickers indicating £1.99 were budget releases so in 1972 that's the equivalent to £23.00 today although sadly most of those budget records are not even worth 50p now. There's so many OSTs with funky tracks on, even Bond lps. The one that is more pricey than all of the others is On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Not sure why that one is more desirable than all of the many other Bond lps. Ideally you want the UA presses as Sunset is the budget reissue label. I haven't got that particular Pink Panther lp but The Return Of The Pink Panther lp has a great funky track on it. On Any Sunday by Dominic Frontiere is a super funky OST from 1971. Lookout for Ventures lps from 67 to the early 70s. Exploito psych and funk instrumentals galore. Bobby Darin did two killer lps in 68 and 69. There is a decent track on The Pat Boone Family LP from 1971, has a drum break if memory serves. Regarding the George Moody there's quite a few of that country ilk in the UK during the 70s. Club band releasing private press records that are usually signed by the artist. Sold by them whilst doing the working mans club circuit. Mostly terrible with the odd exception. Check out the Working Man's Soul comps (two volumes) on Discogs to get a better idea of some of the ones worth picking up ie the funkier ones. I was with my mate the day he got the first Eloy LP for £10 at a market stall....£400+ LP. It ruined my day I can tell you 😂. Cheers Nige
The soundtracks are great! You can never go wrong with Ennio Morricone, James Bond or Henry Mancini. The Dollar Trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West are very popular, but I would grab every strange Morricone S.T. I could find. Some of the weirder Italian films he did, go very high. Also Eastwood's Two Mules for Sister Sara is a rather hard to find. I recently found one for 25 Swiss francs, which is quite a bargain for a VG+ Japanese re-release pressing. Eloy was a German prog rock/space rock band who quite has a following in the prog scene. Always a good pick. Bobby Darin was an American crooner whose records are becoming rather rare here in Europe, with prices rising. You might have heard the song "Mack The Knife". The Ventures were an American proto surf band.
Nice collection there, especially the movie soundtracks, quite collectable i would think, and really good condition. Sorry to hear you are a bit under the wheather, get well soon.
Bobby Darin’s Greatest Moments ( sometimes titled The Bobby Darin Story ) is unusual in that it contains his narration at the beginning of some of the tracks. He was one of the top American popular music singers of the late 1950s and early to mid 1960s . Great album.
Norman"s Mix could well be Fatboy Slim. For me the remixes are usually more interesting than the original, especially if they are extended 12" mixes.Know your remixers
49/11 is 49 shillings and 11 old pence - or £1 9 shillings and 11 pence pre 1971 - post decimalisation equal to £1.49 more or less. That’s about the same as £29 today taking inflation into account - so not cheap. In fact about the same as a new album now.
Hi Vinyl Vault, canny pick there marra (mate). The soundtracks are great, you should get a few bob for them if you sell them on. There was a few there that I would bypass myself, but there ya gan. The Eloy album Metromania is a great pick, formed in 1968 in Germany, this particular album is from 1984. I haven't heard that record, but their other stuff is pretty good. I visited Seaham today, not much there. I got that Mike Oldfield record that you got last week, payed a pound and another copy of Alphaville's Big In Japan 12" single for a pound as well. At least I got summat, got nowt last week.
Allways appreciate your comments and I am pleased you are getting out and finding a few bits. I am sure you will find more stuff real soon. All the best.
Loved 'Judge Dread' in the early '70s' , a very naughty man , very sexually suggestive.... Think he were banned from 'TOTP' & Radio 1, every single etc. I learnt my first Swear words off the 'Judge' lol and my first 'Rugby' song nursery rhymes . Great Memories 🤣🤣🤣🤣🫣🫣🫣🫣
A bargin for just £10.I never see any bargins like that ay Boot fairs. When i see records ,there either well scratched, or over priced .The Eloy one is a progrock band.

Fishbone is British funk, soul legend still extant. Those 60s soundtrack albums would make a nice 'muriel'
A few goodies but quite a few oldies. Enjoying your finds 😊👍

Just a bit more info Judge Dreadd was a singer of Reggae type songs but they were a bit below the belt and full of double entendres
Wow! Amazing knowledge, thank you so much for contributing to the discussion.

Incredibly decent and detailed response, thank you. I will make notes and appreciate your contribution.
Fishbone is probably the best lp in there. It’s crossover punk/ rock. They were from the same LA scene as the Red hot chili peppers. Great find!
Thanks, I appreciate your comments.
Fishbone decent band nice find.
Thanks, will take a listen. All the best.

Thanks for letting me know.
Yootha Joyce is the woman on the Steptoe LP, and she was indeed Mildred, in George and Mildred. Sadly died of alcoholism in 1984.
Thanks, what a shame.
You might have a good few quid in the bundle of Reggae singles...

Great rock band Gamma was
The Gamma albums are a good listen.

My mistake 20 shillings in the pound so it’s £2 9 shillings and 11 pence - £2.49 - worth the equivalent of £50 now!
That Eloy Band are German Progressive rock and go for good money.

Eloy is pronounced “EE-loy.” The name comes from the H.G. Wells novel The Time Machine. Fishbone were ska metal I think.
Thanks for letting me know. Much appreciated.

London boys, I'm nearly sure both were killed in a car crash.
Yes, sadly it seems you are correct. I also assumed they were from London but in fact they were German. A sad story.
