OMG, thank you! I just pulled my Elna out after it being broken for more than a year (older model than yours, but very similar). The telescoping thread arm had snapped off. Fixed that, and then suddenly the whole machine seemed to seize up! Watched your video, cleaned and oiled it, and voila! It's working perfectly. Thanks a million! (Or the $150.00 USD I nearly spent to get it diagnosed at the repair shop!) ;-*
Thank you so much for this. I’m learning how to use my mum’s overlocker and changed needles for the first time but couldn’t get it to work after. Your video showed me I’d loaded them in back to front!! All fixed now
Thank you so much. Your video is very helpful! I just got a elna 686 serger from marketplace and there is no manual I can find. Your video just saved me😊 I just notice my machine is missing the moving blade, no screw. Is there any replacement I can get?
@@annalee2155 Hi I don’t think you will be able to buy a replacement screw from the manufacturer, one of my screws from the needle place broke in two pieces and I couldn’t get one, jut what I did was went through a box of screws i had , it wasn’t a perfect replacement but it did the job, you could go into a hardware store with your machine and ask if they have a screw that would do the job X
Hi Tina, I found this way more informative than Elna’s manual, I have a further problem with the foot lifter, it doesn’t work anymore. I think something must be broken, do you have any suggestions? Thanks again, Lois
Hi Lois On the side of the machine, just above and slightly in front of the foot lifter is a screw , try and undo that to get you inside, you will get a better idea of what the problem is maybe it just needs some oil , what I have found with Elna and I’ve tried twice is you can not get spare parts when some thing goes, now I don’t know whether you can get a new foot lifter but I found the company very pour when I couldn’t getting replacement parts , hope this helps and you get it sorted .
Great instructions. I know there was so many points to oil
I just bought a used elna 683 today. I am SO HAPPY that you have made such a great thorough video on this machine! Thank you!!
@@drhovey32 your welcome ❤️
I could cry, this is proper maintenance of a sewing machine. Great job! That sewing machine will probably last for years to come.

@TinaBambina Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I have any screw that can fit into.
