    I’m 22 years old and I think I have it. I’ve been struggling with eating for about a month now because everytime I eat my stomach gets so irritated. I experience bloating, gas, constipation, and pain. And it is ruining my relationship with food. It makes me not want to even eat. My appointments to see a GI specialist isn’t until October 3rd :/

      I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling! I am glad you made an appointment with a GI doctor. That is the best first step you can take. No matter what they find know that the suffering is temporary. Once you know what foods are the problem you will be able to heal and enjoy food again. Please don't stop eating gluten because you need it in your system for the celiac tests to work properly.

    I'm very sorry that you and your sister have had to deal with this and I'm glad you seem to be dealing with it quite well. For what it's worth I'd just like to say that you are very pretty, wow.

    My confusion with the test is,, dont stop eating gluten. If you try a gluten free diet and most of your symptoms disappear what more testing do you need? Other than a doctor telling you what you have I would think your body has told you. If there is any medication I geuss you need an official diagnosis.

      There are numerous reasons you may want an official diagnosis. The first thing to keep in mind is that it may not be celiac disease but more of a gluten intolerance. A gluten intolerance is handled in a different way. Also, there are other gastrointestinal issues that for a time have some relief from a gluten-free diet so you could assume it's one thing when it may be another. The other reason is more related to children. Often times it is necessary to have a medical diagnosis to show that the child needs special meals prepared in the school setting whether it's elementary or college. Arrangements need to be made to ensure the child is safely being fed. They also may need other accommodations while in school, camp, daycare etc that would require an official diagnosis.       Of course it is confusing. If you have a condition and there is only one effective treatment like the strict GFD and it works what else could it be. Yes your body has told you what an official diagnosis will only reaffirm. Why go through increased suffering if you are feeling better and then feeling worse with the re-introduction of gluten just so you can be informed again of what you already know? Personally from someone who was offically diagnosed almost 20 years ago via biopsy I would have tried the diet at the onset of my symptoms 20 years before that and if it had worked would have stayed on it forever satisfied with my better health. I can never get back those 20 lost years of poor health pre-diagnosis. The offical diagnosis was nothing but directions on starting the strict GF diet. Thanks for your logical thinking comment.

      @@noglu106 Hello. Sorry about your suffering for many years. I think diagnosis is key because if someone feels discomfort or health issues from eating wheat or another cereal, it may be because other component of the food instead of gluten. For instance, wheat has components such as ATI, wheat germ agglutinin, fodmaps, that can trigger gi discomfort. Fermentation of grains predigest those component and make them much more digestible.
      Also wheat flour can contain additives like bromine, synthetic vitamins, or may be prepared with baker's yeast. These ingredients may be gi disruptors for many people.
      Humbletly, that is why i think is important an accurate diagnosis, because it may not be gluten specifically what causes harm in everyone.

      @@JuanLopez-vf3mo No apology needed. I have something you might have overlooked when insisting on testing. You haven't considered the possibility that the person may not have health insurance or cannot afford the testing. Should that person continue to suffer while waiting to afford the necessay tests or see if diet helps? Just a thought. Thanks for your reply.

      @@noglu106 It's a fair point. Here in Argentina, blood tests are free in most cases, or at least are not expensive. But for sure is not the case for many countries. Sorry for my english

    What is my blood work comes back positive ? I don’t want to do the endoscopy

      We would suggest discussing this with your clinician to determine the best approach for you and your situation. Many things are taken into consideration when deciding about an endoscopy.
