    Alec, first time I'm seeing your ranch video. Funny I did the same thing 12 years ago when I moved into our current house and would lose electricity 1-2 times a year, usually for a few hours (I work from home a lot, so any power outage is an issue) but one time for 3 days (neighbors came to charge their phone!)... we're on the same grid as people living in the bonnies even though we're in town. Got a 4500watts generator (I think it was half off for under $200!) and same cable, but I plug it directly into the outside circuit breaker we have so I can use the main switch to the house to toggle between city and my generator (critical not to power the lines back so workers don't get zapped!) and then use inside breaker box to decide what to power (I can do fridge+game freezer, 2 gaz heater, light, iternet, TV, kitchen gaz appliances). I do have to bring ti out and connect it and start manually... didn't go as fancy as you.

      Hi Alain, welcome to my ranch channel. Glad to know you see the benefits of a home generator setup too. Ours work perfectly for the times the ranch gets blackouts or long winter storms. Stay tuned I have lots more ranch and home tips coming.
      Thanks for watching.

      I've been thinking about your set-up Alain. I'd love to be able to start the generator, plug it in and then just throw a single switch to power the whole house. With my new 10,000 watts (80+ amps) generator, I could do that rather than have to pick and choose the circuits to power.
      I'm just not sure if there is a legal interlock switch like that here in Canada. It's really just a single pole, double throw switch but I'm going to check it out.
      Thanks, Alec

    Interesting video and setup and certainly useful.
    I'm wondering on idle/load how many litres per hour does the genny use?

    • @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
      @AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      On 1/2 load it runs for 10 hours. On idle I suppose it would run a long time - maybe 24 hours. It's kinda' academic because you'd not leaving it running a long time if there was no load.

    Alec where did you get that switch box and what is the switch box called.

      It came with the generator. It's a Coleman Powermate Generator Transfer switch, don't know the model. Its a few years old but very similar to the RELIANCE 30 AMP MANUAL TRANSFER SWITCH.
