@ChanticleerHegemony I worked out that you press the key in but crirically you have to depress the clutch peddle at the same time or nothing happens! Had a quick drive - it's too bad folks! I used to have an MGB Roadster 1969 with wire wheels and chrome bumbers! I loved the look of the car, it got me lots of admiring glances and attention. I bet if he still reviewing in Top gear he will "express" things differently. but clearly this is just a paid ad for a respected gentleman which might help this unbiological child of England to become a grown up.
was his family being held at gun point when he did this, i have driven a "greatwall steed SE" for the last two weeks, it handled like a 1980's pick=up truck, had all the gear but defo NO IDEA, it copied old Japanese teck, the panels squeaked, drank like a thirsty thing, and rolled more than a rolly thing. they are basically cheap cars, you get a lot of kit for your money, they look nice, but with NCAP ratting of 2 stars, i would prefer a 10 year old BMW that has 5 stars and a pedigree.
I watched Quentin's reviews back on old top gear and fifth gear they were always truthful and honest reviews, here though he must be getting paid, for everything he says in this review contradicts what other reviews are saying about the car.
It's because nobody should be driving near those speeds anyway. Why the hell would you want to pay a lot more on insurance for a top speed you can never reach, when you can get the exact same performance (within the legal limits at least) with a restricted top speed?
Much different to the K-series, casting method is different, and the cylinder heads cannot be interchanged at all as the block is different inside to the K series. Also it has an MLS gasket as standard.
As good as Mat is he blatentley gets paid by Ford to say how 'good' their cars are as he said the Focus is best in class. That is untrue as many other reviews say different and criticise the understeer and lack of steering feel. MG6 handles better anyway with a better steering system.
The handling is superb. This is the car you slip the owner's mother one. The owner is so fascinated with MG badge that you can happily rodger away on the back seat. Safe in the knowledge that if you bang the mother too hard, the reverse sensor tell you your moving backwards even with the engine switched off and the key in the mother's clevage. Long live MG and long live MG owner;s mothers.
If they designed it new from the ground up with as little recycling of Chinese parts as possible, they could make a great car without half as much of the Chinese stigma attached. Sure this would be a lot more expensive & to break into the market again, they would have to use preditory pricing. Undercut the market, but don't skimp on the quality. They wouldn't be very profitable for a while, however it has to be done to steal people away from the already established firms.
@VDPEFi You will be waiting a long time. MG has been taken over by a company with the same kind of reputation as the od MG (poorly built cheapness). Lotus is going upmarket, Aston always was. Bentley, Rolls, etc are all heavy on price. Even with Quentin (who's a sell out these days anyway) going on about how good it is there are plenty of other reviews which say otherwise. I wouldn't bet on MG making a big comeback just yet.
How can they say that it was designed in the UK when its just a rebadged version of a chinese car? I would love MG to be producing more cars, they just need to distance themselves from their chinese owners. It would sell so much better if it wasn't for their Chinese image.
It has a 4 star EuroNCAP rating :P and it's only the parts that are made in China, it was designed and made in the UK... The Chinese cars to avoid are the ones made and designed in China by dodgy sounding maufacturers, like Landwind :P.
What???..he has to have been paid by MG for this..class leading??.NOT EVEN CLOSE..terrible build quality, depreciation of an old skoda, poor mpg, shocking handling, & like ALL modern MG's engine will be gone before 100k..I had 1 as a company car for a year, honestly they make Kia look good.
Why isn't there a tariff on these things? The Chinese have a 30% tariff on all foreign car makers unless they manufacture in China and give the Chinese their technology. It's a scandal, frankly.
You whould give Quentin some credit to be fair, have you driven one?!... BMW may have egg on their face allowing the MG brand to be sold in the first place, with chinese backing its going all the way and you may laugh but you wont be. Have you seen the 2 new cars we've already designed and theyve built? typw MG5 in youtubes search.
top speed is limited to lower insurance, mg is a great british brand, however the mg6 is designed and ASSEMBLES at the long bridge factory. As proud a brit as I this is not a proper mg and is not sporty or very good on fuel, the ford focus is much better im sorry but this really isnt a proper british car or sitting to the proper british sports idea. Give me a midget anyday!
I'm proud of today's British car industry, but Quentin has descended into delusional jingoism here. This isn't a car made in Britain - it's bolted together in Britain from a Chinese kit. The styling is poor - the rear is a blobbier version of the BMW E60. The same goes for the dash. Trim quality isn't great. I'm sure K-series head-gasket woes are now mere history, but the drivetrain still isn't good enough. The pricing is also too ambitious - Skoda Octavia anyone? Especially a VRS estate...
Tut, tut Quentin... Stepped right back into your sleazy car dealer role there quite nicely haven't you? I've just stopped listening to anything you have to say.
Oh Quentin Quentin you have sold out. Of course he was paid for this. This is a mediocre car in the extreme and I doubt he would buy it with his own money. He would have panned it for mediority when he was on TG. Buy a Skoda Octavia and get a car a millon times better.
The whole design team should've gone to Specsavers. It's hideous and so cheap looking! Quentin If you met the people that developed this at prototype level, you should have been honest with them and told them the truth, NO, it's terrible!
Quentin, this isn`t a proper MG, it`s a Chinese Car with a MG badge.... Competitively priced certainly, but it`s not up to par when it comes to build quality and the engines are pretty much last century when it comes to efficiency. I wish he would still make proper programmes like TG and not just these sales videos...
What has my nationality got to do with anything? A review of an MG paid for by MG and probably filmed by MG employees: it's obviously going to be biased! It's like a review of Coca Cola Zero, paid for by Coca Cola and filmed by Coca Cola employees; you wouldn't believe it would you?
An English Cartman A review of the MG by Quentin Wilson who is not an MG employee or paid by MG, and he is not alone in liking the MG 6 There are many owners who love it including other testers who see how good it is.
+Barrie Rodliffe no.1. The video starts off with an MG logo which is indicative of the video coming from MG's marketing department. No.2. Apart from this one, I have not come across a positive review of the MG 6 at all, maybe the positive reviews you have of it are due to the rose-tinted spectacles of someone with nostalgia for their MGB. And now the Chinese have said they'll cease operations at Longbridge no one will have any reason to buy one.
An English Cartman The video was put on by the MG car co. marketing department and Quentin Wilson was not paid for it, he reviewed the car as an independent. As for other positive tests or reviews there are quite a few, even the negative tests do mention some of the good points about the MG, first it is a very good handling car which not one tester has denied, second it is well equipped again no disagreement, one or two have made negative comments but they have not really shown much to complain about. It is bad news that Longbridge is closing down, bad news for Britain, the good news for China is they can still buy MG`s there. A truly great car and well worth the money. Oh I took off my spectacles before writing this, I really wonder why some people are so anti anything British.

If you're going to use him as a spokesman for MG - at least spell his name correctly.
advertising. Why Quentin? Why?!!!
@thedeadstig123 Nahh other way round
Has anyone run this thing into a wall? Here's betting it's up to the same standard set by Chinese cars in the past.
What about the Chinese model 🤔?
my god Quentin has got a double chin
The interior abit dull
Lost all respect for QW.
Give me a midget anyday!
wonder how much the chinese pay him to say all this?
wonder if MG paid him to say all this....... lol
Tradition made modern? That's a Chinese car with an MG badge on it. Where's the tradition in that?
I don't think I will ever think of Quentin the saem way again. What a sell out, he's probably really thinking what rubbish it is.
Made in China?
I have also heard this car is a piece of crap it looks cheap and nasty as well. Even Kia is doing better than MG seeing as Kia is budget
This video has no credibility whatsoever.
So says an English caveman.
An English Cartman
A review of the MG by Quentin Wilson who is not an MG employee or paid by MG, and he is not alone in liking the MG 6
There are many owners who love it including other testers who see how good it is.
An English Cartman
The video was put on by the MG car co. marketing department and Quentin Wilson was not paid for it, he reviewed the car as an independent.
