Wow, you really did India quickly, I thought you were going to try the Himalaya routes. If you get trouble in Pakistan and you cant go there at all, you can always head north and drive through the former sovjet states like Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and so on. That hotel looked nice, looked like they wanted to throw you out as you arrived hahaha. Dont your GPS have a setting where to try to avoid big city centers? Would be easier for you. Also, driving in such dense cities can be a bit of a mess as the GPS signal can be poor. It was interesting to see the golden temple of the sings/sikhs. I alwasy thought it was that sort of little golden building only, but now you teached me something new it is that whole square area with the pool and all the buildings in circumference. Safe drivin to Pakistan. Cheers from Sweden
I thought exactly the same, head North, embrace the adventure and you'd still get to visit Iran if that's a thing for you, then across the Caspian to Azerbaijan and Georgia, then you hit Turkey. When there are barriers in the way, adapt and overcome. 💪👍 As for the towns/cities, yeah, probably not all will compare favourably with Christchurch or Wellington, but hey, that's different countries/cultures too I guess. People call it home - it's what they're used to. At worst, there's the camping equipment that could be put to use somewhere less densely populated, bound to be somewhere. Of course we don't know your visa time limits. All the best Ray.
Enjoyed the vid Ray. Thank you . Must have been made under some duress but at least you took the (wise) decision to stay at a decent 'pub' for a few nights to re charge and prepare for the few weeks ahead. Hope the geo political situation at the border doesn't interfere too much with your plans. I think that's pretty much the norm in that part of world. Hope those tyres work out!
Hi Jim. I've got an HD tube in the back as I got a puncture during my NZ test ride. The front has a standard tube with a patch on it! I'd definitely run HD tubes for a long trip with amy sort of rough terrain.
@@2wheels2everywhere22 Good to know. I am considering taking my DR RTW and am happy to get the advice. Did you change out the standard sprockets and chain to 520 from the stock 525 set?
@jimphelps4466 the owner before me had made loads of mods and I returned a few of those including original blinkers - good to have nice large indicators. Carburetor - changed out the Pro-cycle back to original. Sprockets and chain - also changed back to original. Caveat - I ride my bike very sympathetically and mostly on tarseal so aiming for a reliable steady-as-she goes set up. If you're looking for more performance and off-road ability then go for gold. Epilog - I do love the RST-DG exhaust. Way too noisy for a RTW ride but sounds super cool, and ear plugs are cheap. 😂

Hi Magnus. I did a lot of travel through India 5 years ago so no need to repeat. Will be doing the Himilayas in Pakistan... stay tuned!
@@jeffm8522the Karakorum Highway is more or less the same but probably better that north India so didn't want to double up.
Have a good trip.😊😊😊
Thank you! 😃
Thanks Ray great video, hope Pakistan works out!

Ray, are you using standard duty tubes or heavy duty tubes on your DR? What do you recommend for long distance touring like you are doing?
