    *I'll confirm this stuff works great too. Recently I've seen a few people claiming waste should not be liquified since it turns the contents of the tank into a slush that coats the walls of the tank. The problem is that by the time you are ready to dump, you have enough solid waste in there that can clump together and cause clogs. If you're not liquifying, prepare to get clogs, period. Another proven fact is that 1 dump will not remove all the solid waste from the bottom of a tank, even if the RV is tilted toward the drain pipe, leaving an opportunity for solid waste to stick to the bottom of the tank. If waste is liquified, you have more waste exiting during a dump, and less chance of sticking. Either way, in addition to liquifying waste, I would encourage everyone to refill their tank after dumping at least half way, and dump again. You WILL see more waste come out. Thats probably one of the most important but least talked about procedures to keep a black tank clean.*

      After the initial dump, I refill and dump the black tank a minimum of 3 times. Even then I sometimes still get waste out.

    Just a quick comment from a former scientist now retired and an avid RVer. Dog and cat food is compressed and designed to break down in a pet's digestive low pH stomach. I realize we can't really use human feces for the test, but I don't think they are equivalent. I've always used Camco TST toilet treatment which is 3 times less than Matt's RV liquified. With the clear elbow I've always observed that the waste is properly liquified when dumping. Maybe part of the liquification is the stirring, movement inside the tank when the vehicle is motion. I'm still going to save money by using the $6 dollar product vs the $19 one. Camco also smells nice too. I've also used other competitors that work well too.

    Maybe use a dropper to add the treatment and get the correct ratio of treatment to water. Throw in a sheet of TP. Do a comparison to a few other common brands, other than just plain water.

    First, any product that breaks solids down has to be good. Us old timers dump and flush evening before breaking camp and treat our tanks. 5 to 7 gallons of water plus chemicals as you drive should do the trick. Unique works pretty good but will try this product soon.

    My black tank is only 30 gallons and it gets dumped daily or day and a half at the most and if you are letting it sit for a week at a time then you will have build up on everything. All I use is pinesol and calgon and flush king. I have never had issues on my 2018.

    Upon your recommendation, we tried Liquified on our trip this weekend. Absolutely horrible! The stench in our camper by day 2 was unbearable. I ended up pouring in 3/4 of the bottle and it still didn’t help. Luckily it was only 3 nights. We have a very small 12 gallon black tank so we definitely should not have needed that much. We’ll be going back to Bio Pak drop ins. Foolishly I took them out before our trip because I had the bottle of Liquified.

    The test you did, pouring the glug of treatment into the container is like pouring the whole container into your waste tank.
    I did the math the best I could and if you poured 8 ounces into the container you should only add 0.55 TSP of treatment. That would be very close to the ratio of 1 ounce of treatment poured into your tank and having used it half full with 20 gallons of water in it.
    Now let’s see how good it does ?

  • @myriadcorp

    Why are these products trying to turn your black holding tank into a septic tank? Wouldn't it be better just to flush the stuff out without having it dissolve into a paste that can stick inside the tank?

    • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy
      @NationalRVTrainingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the black tank is a tank. When you flush (drain the water) not all of the solids come out. Even if you fill the tank up after you flush and dump again. Solids do not move through a pipe without water. While some solids move others do not.
      If you dump often then you are left with one of two options. Dumping frequently does not allow enough time to build up the water content to help the bacteria break down the solids. THe second option is to add far more than 5-10 gallons to try to move the solids. You end up filling the tank up completely multiple times just to remove all solids.
      Tank turning to septic? Well that's exactly the starting point, if we can break it down sooner then we should have less problems with clogging.

    OK Todd, I've watched your review of Unique and this one. Unique liquefied the dog food in 2 hours, but you went 1 day with Liquified. So which one is better? I think you need to test both at the same time to see (or show) which is more effective. Maybe they are equal, but how about doing a head-to-head test? Or does the smell of citrus make the difference?

I would like to see a side-by-side comparison with whatever time frame you use, but are the same.

    Is it really "NECESSARY" to liquefy...?
    The reason I ask is according to 'Kleen Tank' owner and technician the MAIN issue with tanks and black tanks (including sensor issues) is caused because the majority of campers simply don't use enough water when flushing.
    Basically fill toilet with 2:1 ratio...meaning fill toilet water twice after each 1 flush of solids.
    andof course NOT keep tank open 🤣

    I would like to see a side by side by side comparison test between Liquified, Unique-Digest it and Just Science TankTechRX with the correct ratio of treatment to holding container size and some toilet paper included with the dog food. Otherwise these product reviews are just entertainment because they aren't representative of what an RVer would do with the wrong amounts of product and no TP at all.

  • @mikewatkins978
    @mikewatkins978 ปีที่แล้ว

    Morning Todd, like others here, you need to do real world testing, black tanks are a main concern for most RV'ers
    Poop & Pee & Paper in a 6 gal holding tank, correct measured amounts of treatment.
    You don't necessarily have to show the results but with the newer Ekko's and the cassette tanks would make a good testing unit.
    One weekend and two people of #1 & #2 just about fill one of those tiny tanks, then 24hrs of work time in the tank, enzymes aren't instant, they take time.
    Or even set up a couple of identical' Thetford prota-pots at the school and do a test that way.
    Then report the findings, you don't have to show it,
    Just for the record, I've got a dog and when I leave his food dish out overnight and it rains the food almost dissolves but when I mow the lawn and step in two day old dog poop it ain't liquified. and that's why dog owners carry plastic bags to clean up after their pets, poop doesn't melt without help.
    I contacted Kleen Tank for a service this year, they suggest no treatment at all, just the poop, pee & fresh water, the combination is actually is supposed to build the correct enzyme ratio.
    Start with 4gal of fresh water in the tank & flush normally.
    Liquifying dog food ain't poop to me, butt thank you for at least taking the time to address this subject.

    • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy
      @NationalRVTrainingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Man oh man. I want to accept this challenge!!!
      I am trying to figure out how I could pull that off. How long would it take for me to collect enough poo to conduct 2 test. Now I have to find some clear holding tanks that are made of the same material as the holding tanks we have.
      You see once you go down that road of "it has to be exact" then you have to exactly duplicate it. Then people will say that its not indicative in all conditions. Heat plays a factor, the amount of water plays a factor. "
      End of the day, did the product break down solids? Yes.
      Im not saying I will not conduct a real world experiment. I think it would be a sh*tstorm if I did make it. :)

    • @mikewatkins978
      @mikewatkins978 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NationalRVTrainingAcademy LOL,,,,,
      I guess for a real world test then it would be easiest to use a clear dump hose elbow when dumping the tanks and evaluate the contents as they flow by, or if you can convince some Ekko owners to help out then just wait and see what dumps into the toilet, with those tiny tanks you got to watch what you're doing anyway or wash your shoes & socks,,,,,,,,,
      This year I'm testing the Unique brand, and as they request in the instructions not o mix with other brand treatments
      At the beginning of the year I'm going to do the "Tank Cleaner Treatment" then the rest of the year I'll be using their additive.
      I have an unusual situation in that the Class C I purchased last year via barn find, it had not been prepped for storage after they used it last 13yrs ago, needles to say the enzymes had a lot of time to do their job, amazingly after four complete flushes of the tank I had clear water draining with no residue, clear elbow observation.
      Unfortunately or fortunately I guess, I will be solo and the tank is 38gal capacity so it might take a month or so between dump's,,,,

    • @mikewatkins978
      @mikewatkins978 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ran out of text space, but if you ask your students to help fill the tanks that might save some time in the duration of the tests,
      Really, it could be a good learning experience for all involved.
      Now that would be a challenge,,,,,,,
      To add, I think using a clear tank wouldn't be the way, most are squared off with sharp corners, holding tanks are rounded, so using an RV as the test station would be easiest, park it near the school door or easy access from the class area and request they use it.
      I'm planning on maybe being down in Texas this spring, we could discuss it in person.

    My first experience did not meet the expectations set by all the promo. It did NOT liquify my black tank sh#! as promised. So I wonder if dish soap somehow denatured the enzymes in the treatment. Everyone suggests to throw your dishwater down the toilet to increase the water volume in your black tank. And that's what I do. What do you think?

    I watched with great interest as any new product on the market needs to be honestly tested and evaluated. And if you were Italian, you would know the difference between "a friend of mine" and "a friend of ours." After initially watching your tip, I went to the website and was directed to Amazon and read the directions. Looks like 1oz per 40 gallons of tank water is the key to this. After reading it, I went back and watched again, and it looks like you used 1/2oz for that little tiny container. Well, I would suspect that if I used a concentrated amount of product in a small container, I could dissolve product within 24 hours, too. I think the test that you performed is a bit misleading. Care to respond? Thanks.

    • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy
      @NationalRVTrainingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We think you’ll like tomorrow’s video. We did the math and retested the product against another well known product. We based the amount we put in each container on 2 cups of water.
      However, consider that your black does not start off with 40 gallons in it, rather it starts off with very little water and some waste after using it for the first time. So there will be more product per gallon for the majority of the time it’s in there.
      Let us know what you think about the test tomorrow!
