    Materials needed:
    flat back glass marbles
    18g up to 12g wire
    plastic place mat
    E6000 glue
    fine point sharpies
    90% isopropyl alcohol
    scissors
    round nose pliers
    bail making pliers
    nylon jaw pliers
    wire cutters
    ruler
Note: Cut 7in. of 12g wire for the bail. Cut 10in. of 18g wire for bail.
Note: Glue glass directly to the plastic don't cut out circles. The glass marbles aren't perfectly round and the glue will spill over the edge of the plastic. The glue also causes the plastic to warp as it cures. Don't mess with the glass once it is glued down. It will cause the glass and plastic to separate. Wait 24 hours to cut the plastic away.

If you use tim holtz micro glaze it will make the drawing image waterproof and should eliminate bleeding. It can be found in the stamping section at Michaels

So comprehensive! I have a bad habit of getting an idea in my head, doing it, and then moving on and never thinking about it again (knitting, puzzles, coloring, painting...). I made some cabochon magnets a couple of years ago and now have an entire bag of packaged up magnets. I was cutting little pictures out of magazines for the image.. but anyway! I was using clear gel nail polish to glue the pic to the cabochon and then modpodge to seal it. Maybe I should see how well they have held up
I love your art and the watercolor effects

Hi Alicia, StazOn ink should be fine to use for stamping. It is made for non-porous surfaces and is permanent. You can use with the sharpies to color in your image. Hope this helps. TFS the video. Love the new version of the bail. Cheri

These are a blast from the past! Back at the turn of the century *giggle*, flat marbles and white dominoes were my jam. :D I mainly drew on the dominoes with Sharpies or used Staz-On ink (solvent based) to stamp directly to the domino, colored in with Sharpies. For the marbles, I used to stamp or draw on tissue paper and color in and Mod Podge to the marbles to get the water color affect. It was a learning curve to keep all the process straight, with the alcohol or solvent based, or water based items to prevent reaction or get reaction depending on what you wanted. So much fun! It used to jump start my creative juices. I think I used a Spray Fixative and then a Triple Thick spray for the dominoes. For the marbles I cheated and nested the marble in a gathered fabric or ribbon rosette, I think there was string pearls involved, maybe frayed denim scraps. lol Possibly flattened bottle caps depending on size of marble. If I used an unflattened bottle cap, Any extra space was mounded with something similar to Diamond Glaze and filled with those tiny micro beads or glitter, or combo. Good Times! Fun Video!

WOW!!!!! I am so happy you said all of this I bought domino's from dollar tree and wanted to try this technique with them but I got so caught up in the glass marbles that I didn't get to experiment with the domino's. Thank you so much for the info. 🥰

    • @andrea.rivers

@@beadifulnights You're welcome! They are so fun! The Sharpies will react with the Staz-on, but you kinda stroke paint it on and if you touch the Staz-on you wipe off on a piece of scratch paper. Google Sharpie Domino Queen Leigh Snait-Brunton. Even if you don't go that route completely, the fact she does that with dominoes and Sharpies is AMazing!

I think instead of gluing something on the back, before gluing on the bail, I would maybe paint the back with white paint. I have made things on the back of glass and I used a sharpie to color in the words and later I used paint to go over everything and it worked great and looked nice too. Just a thought on the back of these.

Did you ever try making your watercolor on paper and then glueing that on the glass. You could also make a larger painting and then pick out different parts of it you like. Maybe try coating the back with clear gloss? Just found you. You’re an excellent teacher. Thanks for sharing.

You could try clear nail polish as a fixative to protect your drawings. Be sure it’s clear nail polish, NOT a top coat or base coat as those have solvents that will smear ink.

  • @Oonagh72

You can use nail art stamps on the back of it is an image that is reversible. You can also do the stamping on top of the cab. These are so very very cute!
Also if you have a uv or led light, there is a rhinestone adhesive for nails and it is a great adhesive. With the light it is cured instantly. You can get it fast on amazon, but on eBay it is very cheap, but you have to wait several weeks to get it.

I use the DT aluminum wire all the time. I think its a stretch to say it's really strong. Unless someone has chronic arthritis, it's very easy to work with! Just my opinion. In case someone was thinking of trying it. It's not at all hard to bend.

FYI on the back of the Aleene's glue the warning about smoking was not to smoke while USING the glue not a warning not to smoke the glue itself....LMAO!! Thanks for the giggle though!!! Your video's are awesome btw. I have just started getting back into beading... I was away from it for a few years and when re-organizing and making an art and craft room I found my big bead box and have pulled it out again. You have shown me a lot of things I wished I knew when I was beading in the past but at least I know now and can make a lot of new designs!!!

    Aleshia,
I purchased some wire loopers on Amazon that have a plastic cover over the larger bail size looper. Perhaps this would be better for the floral wire. They are made by BeadSmith. One side has 3 sizes and one side is a single large size. Another thought would be to very tightly wrap your loopers with several layers of clingy plastic wrap. 💖🌷💍💎

I tried this long ago and found if I let the marker get very dry then put a layer of clear nail polish over it, no bleeding. Also, bend your wire over something plastic at first. I found fine tip paint brush pens and now can't find them! They worked great and didn't bleed.
The bleeding effect is cool if a bit random!
I gave up smoking glue years ago🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know these warnings mean someone actually tried it! OMG

I just purchased glue for the first time to do some jewelry repairs. It is Aleene's but it is "Glass & Bead" (instead of The Ultimate) and is a "Slick-Surface Adhesive" (instead of Multi-Surface) . I am hoping for good results putting rhinestones back into a brooch.

    • @emmawashburn8692

Great job. They look beautiful. Did you try mod podge to seal it first then the other glues? You gave me a good idea with stamping image first on paper. I love making things by hand, some are easier than others for me. I do not have a bail maker what else could I use? Did you try Potomac beads or softflex for nylon jaw replacement? When I got my jaws the replacement was reasonable. Thank you for caring.🤗👍😎🌹

  • @MichellesHandmadeCreations

So bottom line, my image will smear/bleed regardless of the glue I use directly on it, unless I use a fixative to preserve the image. And I have to be careful which fixative to use cuz that can smear my image as well. Good to know. I have a boat load of decorative papers I'd like to make into pendants/charms. You've saved me a lot of time and wasted materials. Thanks so much!

To be totally honest I love the art of glass pendant making with the cabochons and what I simply prefer us tge stamps and then using my own acrylic paints for background but one thing I have a total peeve about is how shiny the glass is You can't really see the details in the art so I dull the glass and they are then perfect for me
