I have only recently heard of this mark character and I hate him. To be honest, I think mark here is in denial or embarrassed his child is autistic and so is doing all of this as a means of making himself feel better.
Well if after only recently hearing about someone you have the ability to hate, speaks a lot about what kind of person you are. And only a sick and limited mind like yours could think that he is embarrassed about his son. Such a cruel and heartless thing to say. You are the embarrassment.
The way I saw the video was that he embarrassed differences. I think the video was made with only good intentions. It is though a great problem if the charity is contra productive.
As to ASAN - there were some issues surrounding it, namely, they plagiarised the work of Autistic, Typing (an indigenous creator on FB). There was supposed to be a stream held by some TikTok autistic creators as a fundraiser for ASAN. It was cancelled later based on this and generally a bad behaviour from the yt creators who organised the stream. The involved BIPOC creators felt unsafe and unheard (it is a long story and as I was not involved, I don't have the details; if you can check TikTok, I recommend blackautisticking or resident_cryptid; they also made some videos on evelynjean's account). Autistic, Typing, said they wanted people to continue supporting ASAN as it is better than AutSpeaks and NEXT fA and later expressed their support for the BIPOC creators who were dismissed while preparing for the lifestream. In the end, it isn't my place to decide. Hope this helped!
