Quick question, I tried separating a mixture of water and methanol using freezing point, I cooled the mixture to -15 degrees Celsius and still the mixture remained a liquid, , what do you make of this?
You're not cold enough. Remember to make the container airtight. Either way. Freezing isn't a very good way to seperate the two. Freezing will also seperate everything differently. Distillation is whay you should do. You can freeze it, but you better be able to hit -50°C. But creating environments that cold for a peocess that's not going to do what you want isn't practical...

Acetone is also used as a solvent for Acetylene in Acetylene tanks. Pressurized Acetylene gas is dangerous due to the less stable triple carbon bond
