I get that you are trying make the deck a little more of a midrange beat down deck so that the deck doesn't just fall apart if our commander dies, but I think that the cmc is just way too high at almost 3.9. I feel like wolverines double damage ability is just screaming to be built around.
My worry when I make decks with super unique commanders is “What happens if the commander isn’t around?” The deck could always be tweaked to protect him more or throw equipment on him, but putting all your eggs in one basket is risky
@@Ultimalight I think with the everflowing amount of better and better removal that we are getting, espcially exile removal, it makes it very hard to be able to have a commander that you need to keep around to win.
@@Ultimalight Nothing wrong with this. Arguably the better way to build the deck anyway. Big stompy gruul fight deck that just so happens to have a really good body in the cz. If he dies a few times, just pivot to another big threat.
Don't forget he's running Skullspore Nexus, Ghalta and Great Henge. Those three cards skew the curve of the deck a lot on paper, but they're like 2 mana spells most of the time. Accounting for that, the curve is about 3.5. Still on the beefier side, but way more reasonable.
I’m going to see if I can build this as Gruul Mutate
PREDATORY URGE!!! - ZENDIKAR
Does his ability only double the damage he does to opponent's creatures? Is the ability applicable to other wolverine creatures you control as well?
he doubles ALL damage he deals. Combat to players, creatures, planeswalkers, etc. He is sick when you use fight spells because he deals double damage
Vigor only has that effect for other creatures.
Very true. Shouldn’t have used him as the example

I agree with this. This plays like a typical gruul deck with Wolverine in it. Not a Wolverine deck.
