Thank You doc. This was a great insight provided for 2nd year med student like my self who is trying to decide between plastic surgery and OMS. Can you please share some more info on your residency training in Oral surgery in comparison to general surgery in Medicine please.... Thanks in Advance
@Truth Talker , it depends with the program. Some universities will admit either an MD or DDS e.g. www.dal.ca/academics/graduate_programs/oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery.html
Hello. Dr. question. how can you make a gap between the bottom (inside) of the lip and the bottom (front) of the teeth or ( gumline) . my issue is that when i push my chin using my thumb the frenticulum moves the lip downward and away from the gumline creating relief from the closed in mouth feeling that i have at the present time. ( pretty much pushing the chin downward). this issue is creating thermal regulation issues. the action using the chin creates enough space and relief to eradicate the symptoms im experiencing. how can my ENT mimic this in a office procedure or surgery.
I am curious with regards to when and if I take the medical boards (step 1, 2, 3 etc) as a dental student and eventual resident. I know this is an old video. Hopefully someone watching can chime in. I’m sure I’ll find my answer soon via google.

I believe in order to even begin to take the "steps" you have to be affiliated with a med school.
